We are from the Netherlands. My sons are the same age as Joost and went at the same school. He was bullied. See him now. 12 points for Joost as he is an artist.

First you look at Joost his background, his father died on cancer when he was 12, his mother one year later due to cardiac arrest. Than look at the lyrics, they are really sad. At the end he is putting all his misery behind him, the burning, but doesn't forget them. In a nutshell...the song is a letter to his late father.

Joost lost his father when he was 12 and his mother a year later. They always used to watch the Eurovision Songcontest together and Joost always told his father that, one day, he would be on stage at the Songcontest singing for the Netherlands. The music is called Happy Hardcore and is a typical Dutch product.

:"The real scoop (at the end of video) is that Joost Klein's tune isn't about geopolitical fires-it's about the blaze of his own memories, scorched by the loss of his parents at a young age. He's just globetrotting through Europe to douse those fiery thoughts. Simple as pie!"

Why don't you turn on those subtitles.
It is included in all languages.
Because you are not familiar with the language, you miss the entire essence of this song.
And because of this alone, the non-English songs often lose a lot of points. While they all say that more action should be taken in their own language and culture.
If you turn on subtitles, we give non-English performing groups a fairer chance compared to all those English-speaking groups.
This Song is not only a work of art musically, but also a work of art lyrically.
Showing an entire life with all its wishes and sorrows in three minutes, ultimately ending in a conclusion in which he ends the same past and present by burning it all for a new beginning.
But unfortunately, because of that, this Song will end up with the jury members who have no knowledge of art and forget to include the translation.

All I know is how I feel. This is garbage. A joke. I wonder if it is a joke about a joke about a joke? I don’t have mental space for that. Netherlands, I love you. I feel at home there. You do art and culture at high levels. You have truly nice, open, accepting people. I admire that. But this… what happened!!!
