Anne Clark :
For more than 30 years Anne Clark has held a unique place in contemporary music
Combining literary, socially engaged texts with innovative and genre-breaking music, she has covered every kind of style, while at the same time maintaining her own identity on each and every recording, whether it be the samples (before sampling became a concept) and electronically treated acoustics of The Sitting Room (1982), to the ground-breaking analogue synth classics of Sleeper In Metropolis (1983) and Our Darkness (1984).
Consistently looking for new ways of expression and communication through the emotion of music and language, Anne seeks to not only challenge herself but her audience also.

✨✨✨
Friday night, some beers, heavy metal, Thin Lizzy: 'The boys are back in town.' Then after midnight Anne Clark 'Our darkness' frightened us away. After hours.
Imagine the scene: West Berlin, 1984. Some underground club. This music is playing loud while outside is raining heavily through the neon-illuminated night. You are an undercover agent of some western country intelligence service and you task is to protect a clueless yet crucial person from a kgb assassin you know is about to strike. The scene will go on with some hand-to-fight, some bullets flying and a car chase under the rain with some high performance car (Audi Quattro, Porsche 911 turbo or whatever you decide...).
I saw her live around the time she did this video at Medusa’s in Chicago. Incredible talent that should have gotten more recognition.
Indeed.
David Harrow's music 🎵 enabled her lyrics to be noticed
✨🎼✨
#Lyrics Through these city nightmares you'd walk with me
And we'd talk of it with idealistic assurance
That it wouldn't tear us apart
We'd keep our heads above the blackened water
But there's no room for ideals in this mechanical place
And you're gone now
Through a grimy window that I can't keep clean
Through billowing smoke that's swallowed the sun
You're nowhere to be seen
Do you think our desires still burn
I guess it was desires that tore us apart
There has to be passion
A passion for living, surviving
And that means detachment
Every-body has a weapon to fight you with
To beat you with when you are down
There were too many defence between us
Doubting all the time
Fearinf all the time
Doubting all the time
Fearinf all the time
That like these urban nightmares
We'd blacken each other skies
When we passed the subway we tried to ignore our fate there
Of written threats on endless walls
Unjustified crimes carried on stifled calls
Would you walk with me now through this pouring rain
It used to mingle with our tears then dry with the hopes
That we left behind
It rains even harder now
✨✨✨
Yes, but notice this:
😶 ... Manipulating the counter of views AND other parameters of Videos&Users !!! so, is CZcams an example of "disrespectfully" behaviour ??? --- SHAME ON YOU, CZcams ! 😶 YT, reflect yourself! _showing-your-ugly-grimace?"remember:you-can't-eat-money!"_ Haha! 😁 (I'm just lovin' Music&CoolStuff) ...
☝☝☝
... and there're some "humans" who never get "enough"! ☝ those want more-and-more-and... to feel kinda "alive"! ☝Sorry, mother Earth.
So 80s. Love it 😍
STimmt, warne geile, geile Zeit.Lang ists her.
Auge in Auge. Unvergesslich.
My youth, top music . Great time and still amazing sound
Ilove this song underground music back in the day
There has to be passion... Wonderful!!! :-))
OMG / hymn of my youth --- awsome...
Freundeskreis
I just come to listen to this lyrics -
Doubting all the time
Fearing all the time
Doubting all the time
Fearing all the time
That like these urban nightmares
We'd blacken each other skies
I was flashed when I heard Anne Clark for the first time... she was the electronics drug for me...
Anne Clarc very cool Sound. .....i Love it......🔝🔝🔝80's decade best music Time.........😉nice time from germany
Absolutely great.
Watched her live in the early 90s in some club in Germany. Came back home with friends and blasted her then newest album at 2am at night until a neighbor came by and knocked on my door to complain. Good times!
my god, I love this
This is realy GREAT- love it...........
Can't believe David Harrow is not even mentioned once, he deserves credit being fully responsible for the music score on Sleeper in Metropolis. He wrote, performed, mixed and co-produced on loads of Anne Clarks recordings:
Changing Places (Red Flame) 1984
Joined Up & Writing (Red Flame) 1984
Sleeper in Metropolis (Ink Records) 1984
Our Darkness (Red Flame) 1985
Pressure Points (Red Flame & Virgin) 1985
Wallies (10 Records) 1985
Sleeper in Metropolis (Ink Records) 1987
Wallies (Ink Records) 1988
Hope Road (Ink Records) 1991
Anne Clark is great as a poet and writer, but David Harrow was the one who perfected the combination with analogue synthesized music.
Patrick Dokter You can't believe it? The frontperson artist getting all the attention and credit is just about as old as music itself. :)

Loved her ❤
It Rains even harder now!
Listening to this song during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hope everyone is staying safe
Found this on Blacklist! Just incredible!! 👏👏👏
Same 😀
This is So Good for being from 1984!! It really is timeless!

Sehr schöne musik . Perfekte Dekoration . Für jeder . Auch für mich
Marvelous
Zeiten ❤
Nádherná muzika , fantastická dekorace . Perfektní pro každého. I pro mě . 62,5 Jahren alt
Best Song ever.My First Love ,on this Song.supet
Still a banger 👯♀️
////___ Vanguardista y super Cool...
merci !
- Excellent Track ... ... . .
First hear this song a few days ago. Masterpiece. Rammsten's song "deutchland" begins with similar keyboard sound.
When watching this video, I was totally fascinated with Anne's work. Many newer songs are not really my taste, but the first three albums are great. "Hopeless Cases" also has its top songs. Maybe my taste changes, so the albums after Hopeless Cases could come into focus in a few years.
Genau so ist es !!!!
einfach nur kult
Freitags, 21.45, WDR Fernsehen: ZAK mit Our Darkness als Titelmusik!
Yess! 😎
musica maestro
hey Anne! i saw your live video from 2009, wow! i did not know that you are still on tour... COME TO DÜSSELDORF, please!!! the very first and very only time i saw you live was 1985 in AACHEN (metropolis disco if i remember right?) as a teenager :-) your voice and sound still touches me...
Great song and video, thanks for posting this video.
anne going on girl!!!!!!!!
I love it for ever in my Life...!!!💋❗
Diese Frau is mittlerweile Legende
Legende
Cool
Love is gonna save us?
Be strong !
Through these city nightmares you'd walk with me
And we'd talk of it with idealistic assurance
That it wouldn't tear us apart
Qu'elle nous séparerait jamais
We'd keep our heads above the blackened water
But there's no room for ideals in this mechanical place
And you're gone now
Et tu es parti maintenant
Through a grimy window that I can't keep clean
Through billowing smoke that's swallowed the sun
You're nowhere to be seen
Nulle part tu ne peut être vu
Do you think our desires still burn
Penses-tu que nos désirs brûleraient toujours
I guess it was desires that tore us apart
There has to be passion
Il doit y avoir de la passion
A passion for living, surviving
de la passion pour vivre, survivre
And that means detachment
Et cela signifie prendre du recul
Every-body has a weapon to fight you with
To beat you with when you are down
te battre avec quand tu es parterre
There were too many defence between us
Doubting all the time
Du Doute tout le temps
Fearinf all the time
De la peur tout le temps
Doubting all the time
Du Doute tout le temps
Fearinf all the time
De la peur tout le temps
That like these urban nightmares
Comme ces cauchemars urbains
We'd blacken each other skies
Nous nous noircirions les cieux
When we passed the subway we tried to ignore our fate there
Of written threats on endless walls
De menaces écrites sur ces immenses murs
Unjustified crimes carried on stifled calls
Would you walk with me now through this pouring rain
It used to mingle with our tears then dry with the hopes
That we left behind
que nous laissions derrière
It rains even harder now .
♥
yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Avanti anni luce...
ALTERA HISTORIA DU ROCK
This got played alot at Chicago underground house partys.
Yes! She played at Medusa’s around the same time she did this video. Great show!
@Julien Arbor That must have been cool. Medusas was good times.
@Antonio Howard Indeed it was. I was good friends with the owner (Dave Medusa) , manager (Rodney Rushing), and several of the DJs (including my ex-husband, Bud Sweet) and worked there at the front door and juice bars for a few years. I also bartended at several of the clubs for about 10 years during that time period and wouldn’t trade it for anything...the club scene was awesome in the 80s!
I'm sure I would recognize you If I saw you. Medusa's and skateboarding was my life back then. If every city had a Medusa's the world would be a better place.
World!
☝️ Awesome! this banger was part of the PUNK scene back then! 😎💥
✨ Ah! the great .INITIAL Version! Unique! ^^ ✨
Geil!
This is life in house 🙂

INSANE
Ciao e liberi fino all'ultimo respiro ♾️
Wow! That's a very precise keyboard player!
I'm struggling to understand, as an Englishman and very interested in synth-based music since I could pretty-much walk, how I've slept on you for the best part of 40 years. Sorry for that, but glad I found this video now!
wowowowowowowow
👏✨🔝👌💙‼️⚡😇
Wtf? That sounds exactly like KLF - What Time is Love 😲
it´s probably the other way around i like anne clark and the klf btw
Exact !
Immer
The Start remind me 100% of RAMMSTEIN - DEUTSCHLAND Song. I love Rammstein & Anne Clark ♥
2:22 ! cool synth move... lol
Epic
"it reigns even holland now" hab ich damals rausgehört und mir nix dabei gedacht
Was bedeutet es?
Sie singt ja statt:
- "It reigns even Holland now"
nur
- "It rains even harder now"
@@petermeyer6873 omg Achso 🤦🏽♀️
After 18 years I'm still listening to this I know it came out almost 40 years ago so please don't attack me
