Costs of airplane ownership vary widely from owner to owner. This video takes an average of the various expenses from existing owners and boils them down to simple to digest numbers. Your ownership experiences will be unique.
These are so good. You are criminally under subscribed.

It's a new channel, just give it time
The good content and dedication will speak for itself. Just give it some time.
A more honest comment has never been made.
+1 to this comment.
Love Diamond, they are really ahead of everyone else in terms of what they're producing. If you think about it, it's kind of crazy that in 2022 other manufacturers want 500k-1MM for a plane with the same blue and red knobs that have been around since the 50s. Kudos to Diamond for pushing things forward. Now if only I had the cash for one haha....
long wingspan = good glide = safety; also, add up the savings due to using jet fuel over 1800 hrs and you get tremendous amount
Only 9 of best glide
First, these videos are so beneficial to the GA community and I greatly and highly appreciate the streamlining of information among all the Walkarounds. This is probably the most critically important aspect of what youâre doing.
Second, are these dollar amounts in terms of USD or CAD?
Finally, I put in a vote for a Walkaround of the Cherokee 6, preferably the 300.
Thanks! USD
Just flew 15 hours in this airplane. I love the NG version. So easy to start
I was just looking over your videos and I just wanted a new one, so I refreshed and boom. Here I am
Presto!
I don't even want to buy or own any aircraft, but is fun to see the economics of aviation. :)
Also, did you know that used prices of aircraft have increased due to the current world situation, cos people bought up a lot of general aircraft as a hobby during the lockdowns. My coworker flies a Cessna 152, and will be a certified pilot / flight instructor soon, so we have cool aviation conversations. We talked about supercooled water, and how that can freeze on the wing, sending the plane into a stall. Best not to fly in those conditions, lol...
Spot-On about the 38â wingspan being a big problem for hangar space.
The Cirrus is about 39â. đ±
Is the center line not marked in a hanger? I imaging once you have it perfectly in place you can mark the floor with tape if itâs not already.
These are awesome, concise, fun and chock full of insightsâŠthank you. Any chance you can do Robinson R22 & R44?
Do Piper Comanche 250. Probably the best high performance, bang-for-buck 4-seater ever produced. 155 knots at 14 gph with great useful load. Shame they don't make them anymore.
One thing I experienced flying this cross country across Australia is the seats, it feels like a plank of wood that they stuck foam on.
Love these videos..
The Da42 & 62 are just beautiful.
can confirm the hangar part, we have 2 standard DA-40s here for the flying club and putting their planes back at the end of the night always makes me a bit nervous and im not even the one towing
Twins not in vogue?! I go to bed dreaming of a DA-62. Gods, what an amazing airplane! đ€€đ€€đ€€
Hey, love your videos man!
Could you do a light sport aircraft like a JMB VL3 or a bristell b23?
What are your mission goals?
Iâm also interested in the two but based upon support and the b23 being EASA certified already that would be my first choice.
Tons of diamonds flying around near my house, they're nice little planes, I really like them!
Diamond DA 42 would be a great video too!
Do their twins?! I'm curious on your take on the DA42!!
Awesome video! Do the PA-30 Twin Comanche next please!!!
Chances are, if you can afford a DA40, you don't really have to worry about pocket change like operating costs
Thank you for the DA40!
I heard from an owner that the cost of insurance is like $2,500 really, $4,500 is on the higher side.
I am looking on buying a DA40D with one of those Thielert engine as a flight school is winding up business. Maybe with diesel I can save fuel cost for quite a lot.
My hangar neighborhood pays 700 for his da40 insurance. There is a link in the description describing how these numbers are derived. Good luck with the purchase.
F35 possibly? I've heard they're too expensive for even the US government and I'm interested how that scales down to me
You should do a 737/747/787 and/or 319/320/350 for funsies.
Been looking for this content since starting my PPL! Great. Keep it up!
Thank you
Canât find one with 900lbs payload though most have ac and electric everything so yeah more like 750
Diamond DA20 please
Yeah. Im a car guy, im gunna watch all these tonight
One magical day there will be a BD4c video like this
Thanks for doing this, definately my personal favorite!
Love it, straight to the point and a bit funny
Yes, exactly. I want to but a DA40 đ... Safety is why.
Pls do 1 on Daimond DA20 that's the 1 im flying
Torn between this and a Sling TSi. Flown a DA-40 TDI (IO-360 powered), the Sling-2 (Sling TSi's smaller although older brother), and three different C-182.
The C-182 I didn't like at all. Heavy, poor visibility, burns a ton of gas, while is not THAT fast nor THAT good of a useful load.
Sling TSi haven't flown but it's a sized-up Sling-2 and the Sling-2 were super easy to fly. The only thing specific to them - reduce the cruise speeds Sling boasts by about 15%. Sling-2 do NOT cruise at 120 TAS, more like 105. And I do not believe the TSi will cruise at 150 either. More like 125.
DA-40 are fast (140 TAS for real) and sleekest of the three. BECAUSE of the long wings you hate on here :-D They aren't heavy to move around and I can draw some guidelines on the pavement to push it in precisely, even if that means only 6" of wingtip clearance... Great visibility. And damn - IMHO they are just the sexiest-looking of the three!
I love your videos, they've been extremely helpful being that I'm new to the world of aviation, if you have time would you be able to do a Fairchild merlin lll
Hi Sir, greetings from Argentina. I just found out your chanell and already subscribed to it. I pretty much like these short and comact videos with relevant information. I saw them all in a roll. Here is a question for you: would you consider on doing a review of the Diamond D62 bi-engine airplane? As an aviation enthusiast, in my modest opinion, it is one of the most elegant modern airplanes reacently developed. Thank you.
I tend to agree. I will
Great Video!
Iâve been looking at getting a home built Aerobatics plane, leaning toward the Vans RV-8.
Any chance you would do a break down if costs for dreamers like me?
Yup, I love RVs.
@@CompleteWalkaround if u have time rv12iS as well?
RV8s are very great and fun planes goes fast and sips fuel!
Can you do a video on the Cirrus Vision Jet?
I own a DA40, want to get a 62, but wingspan needs wider hangar :(
These videos so satisfying to watch đ€©
Big fan of Diamonds. I'd love to have a DA-62
Maybe a Grumman AA1B next? Love the videos!
They're super new, so I'm not sure if there's enough data out yet, but I'd love to see one on the Pipestral Panthera!
Ya, just the one registered in the US. Not enough time for the warts to show
@@CompleteWalkaround I'll be sure to bug you for a video on them in 5-10 years then. Love your videos, can't wait to see more!
Hey, would you mind doing the Piper cub and/or the Citabria next? I'm just super curious because they're my favorite planes ever!
Did my pilot training in this plane, nothing flies like it.
"People who have flown the Austro engine report it has less vibrations and it's quieter"
Part of what's interesting about this to me is, it's a Diesel, and often automotive Diesel engines are marginally noisier/more vibration-prone than gas engines. But then, cars nowadays do not use engines that have more Liters (displacement) than cylinders.
That's a good point. Diesel engines in cars are more noisy for sure than their gasoline counterpart. I guess we can say that the scale of "roughness" goes from gas powered car engine, to diesel engine, to gas powered airplane engine
I can say with certainty that my 6.37L Lycoming IO-390 is a heck of a lot more noisy and shaky than my gasoline car engine đ
@@CompleteWalkaroundloved this video, but sorry didnt understand the following reply, especially your comment ...'diesel engines in cars are more noisy than their automotive counterparts'...as car is an automative too, could you elaborate on the logic implied in this statement. Thanks
@@alokswaroop3640 whoops, fixed it thanks
These are used as trainers for a reason. They're solid
This is the best You need more subs
You read my mind
Awesome breakdown
my guy growing fast! remember me!
Thanks for coming along for the ride
Love your in depth videos. Would you be able to geek out on a T206H?
Thank you. I will do the T206H at some point for sure. Thank you for watching!
So it's a diesel engine, that can run on jet fuel? Is there any long term issues using jet fuel over diesel? Or just really good engineering?
could you make a vid of cost of ownership of VL3?
Its an incredibly popular ultralight that flies as fast as Cirrus and if ordered today, it would arrive in 2023
Fast as a Cirrus? đ€š
@@CompleteWalkaround well the difference in cruise speed is like 70 kmh man, but one thing costs 80k and the other one a million.
I am a pilot myself and VL3 is the most hyped and most bought performance ultralight in my country. I saw one today actually, looks like a small rocket :D
@@90secondsofaviation86 VL3 is a super neat little airplane, no question. It is very fast though I see SR22 is 90km faster in cruise. 250 vs 340. Expensive though, I guess the 5 sets, IFR certification, and FIKI don't come cheap đ
@@CompleteWalkaround haha well if youre trying to find a dope plane for your next vid, consider this one please mate!
VL3 represents very well the high performance ultralight category.
You have a dope channel mate already subbed, keep it up!
Brilliant love your work. What about the Lear35A???
Clearly you need to budget for a bunch of pool noodles to line the side walls of your 40' hangar. (Or budget for a larger hanger.)
Do the Cirrus SF50! Fun aircraft
Can you profile a LANCAIR LX7 piston version? Also a Lancair 360 or legacy maybe too?
Loving the videos! Could you do a Cessna 206 Stationair?
Thanks! I can
Diamond really is some national pride
I'd love to see a PA-24 video. We sell quite a few and would be happy to assist.
Hi, Thanks for the offer. Send me a message on Facebook or Instagram and we can talk more!
@@CompleteWalkaround I sent a message on FB my friend
DA62 please ;-)
The prices are no longer valid. For example the engines are not overhauled currently and the replacement with installation is now north of 55K. In addition the base price as of 2023 is 549k with typical fly away (Garmin 700 auto pilot, ADSB IN/Out, Garmin visual mapping upgrade, AC and electric pedal adjustment) of around 650K.
I'm looking to buy a vintage aircraft. Specifically a 1947 Stinson 108-3. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks
Interesting pick. Should be fun. Are you close to buying? I have some data on a few old timers, donât have much on Stinton yet. Good luck with the search
Are you going to dip into experimental aircraft? Iâm think about getting the Sonex when I get older for fun.
I have Kitfox and Sling TSi so far. More to come.
@@CompleteWalkaround Nice, I shouldâve looked at your list of videos before saying anything lol! Keep up the good work.
Can you do a Cessna 414? I used to fly one and I love them!
You should mention the life-limited airframe time on the TCDS ;-)
Maybe I missed it, but I did not see a life limit on the DA40NG. Maybe youâre thinking of the other plastic airplane-Cirrus?
Iâd love to see a piaggio video
Any chance of doing cost of ownership.on Piper Saratoga!! Cheers and Thx
Please do the Beechcraft Sundowner
@Complete Walkaround sir,
is there any chance you can do for us DA42-VI or DA62 cost overview?
Definitely
Hey, can you do a Cessna 340A????
Hey Diamond, make DA40 on floats?
This totally ignores the aquistion cost and loan payment, which is can be the biggest portion.
Review on a Diamond DA60?
DA42 would be awesome. That's the plane I'll buy once I hit the lottery ;)
Do the Piaggio p.180 please!
Can you do the twin?
Awesome, can you do the pc12 ?
Do Grumman tiger
Can you do the Citation CJ3+ and the Citation M2.
Could you do Piper Seneca
DA62?
Diamond is far ahead of all of the piston aircraft manufacturers.
Can you do an a380?
Can you do Beechcraft Bonanza next? Please! Your videos are of excellent quality.
what about the DA20?!
âButt puckering experienceâ love it
Plz Cessna 210
Could you do an RV-8?
P51D cost to own as well as FK51 cost to own
cirrus vision sf50!!
kind of like 4 People Light electric glider
Could you make one for e.g. a B767 private ownership? I mean, for real - that would be a "killer"-vid for april fools'
Variable and fixed is added to yearly cost with the hours per year you fly? Or do i have to add it ontop of the yearly?
It's all added together on the last page
Next: How much does it really cost to own a Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
King air 200 next?
"That'll be a real butt puckering experience squeezing that in and out of your 40 foot hanger" --> meanwhile, my glider club play's tetris with 8 gliders in a single hanger!!! I fly the 20, have experience in the 40, they are awesome trainers
Fixed costs also need to include a monthly bank payment unless you happen to have a cool $500,000 laying around đ
Doesn't everybody? đ
DA20?
Do a 737 BBJ next lol
