CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The prom is stepped up a notch as the students launch into a choreographed dance the campus D.J. (Usher Raymond) taught them.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
If Hollywood can shoehorn William Shakespeare into the teen-movie treatment with Romeo and Juliet, and Jane Austen with Clueless (from her novel, Emma), why not George Bernard Shaw? While his Pygmalion has been staged and filmed endless times, most famously as the musical My Fair Lady, here Shaw goes to high school. This time around, a Los Angeles' school's most popular guy Zack (Freddie Prinze, Jr.) loses his girlfriend Taylor (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) to television star Brock Hudson (Scream's Matthew Lillard). Zack then vows to his friends that he can take any girl in school and turn her into the prom queen. With five weeks until the prom, his friends pick weird, art nerd Laney Boggs (Rachael Leigh Cook). Zack predictably gets more than he bargained for as he falls in love with his "creation." Eldon Hudson and Kieran Culkin, stars of The Mighty, play Laney's best friend and little brother, respectively. Robert Iscove, director of television's Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, makes his big-screen debut.

Needless to say I was wildly disappointed when this didn’t happen at my prom...
I mean Usher wasn't the DJ and most people did not know how to dance.
Birdie Wolf well... yeah by usher came out my senior year so you can say he was the DJ
You guys have prom?? 💀
☹😞😩
My hs did a flash mob at prom
Why does this have like way better cinematography than the remake 20 years later?
New one looks cheap
Because this one was made for theatrical release and the new one was made for Netflix so it has lower production value.
Because this dance scene you transition into more naturally then the random long dance scene in the 2021 remake. I was confused as hell wondering if we just transitioned to Stomp the Yard or something lol.
@@R7v4 There's plenty of quality looking Netflix movies. This just didn't happen to be one of them. Also since the new one was made during the pandemic, one assumes things had to be carefully maintained with both how many extras were on set and what the choreography looked like to not put people at risk.
The dance from the remake sucked tbh
When everyone turns into a PROFESSIONAL DANCER.
At 0:36 he says "alright dance club, let me see what you got" ... so I took it the people dancing in sync were the dance club.
No todos, solo el club de baile
🤣😂🤣
Ted Mosby in Not another teen movie.
Lol formal
This movie gave me too much expectations for high school.
This movie is nothing like the highschool I went to... that being said, I went too an All-Boys school... things are a bit more low key.
***** Did you get to run around with guns made out of clip-on pens, and scream dank memes?
***** Ooft, that kind of behaviour would've gotten you ostracised at my school. Everything was geared towards academic success. If you were that one guy out partying, you were going to be bringing down the ATAR average of the year group.
ATAR is the Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank.
TyTimeIsAwesome mines was high school musical I thought it would be fun and have great food no
Given these actors are all older than 18, this is more like a College formal. And yes they are fun. Not choreographed but still a lot more fun than high school
.
"Funny isnt it? You would never suspect that everyone in this school is a professional dancer."
+Eamon McGillicuddy I was gonna say that........ but you beat me by only 4 months lol
it's called choreography
+Eamon McGillicuddy we do this at my school all the time at least 3 songs half the ppl break out into a choreographed flash mob bc we've performed it before or shocker it's a dance craze!!!
jennylane Jennifer Its called a joke
jennylane Jennifer he's quoting the parody of She's all that(Not another teen movie)
Just saw He's All That and they really thought they could replicate this masterpiece.
they did???
@@la_monga ywo
@@la_monga With Addison Rae of all people🙄
@@la_monga for real. I can’t stop watching the dance off in hes all that
@@la_monga they tried lol
People don't realize they actually practice this dance. When Usher says "let's do the dance I taught you" Coordinated by the dance club. I love it.
Finally. He even said, "And I know you've been practicing."
Yes! And we learnt something similar at my high school ball (I’m Australian). Not nearly as coordinated but we all did it that took the lessons
Lol still those moves were very intricate and too sophisticated for a casual line dance. Not that I'm complaining, I still love this scene lol 😆
I was just commenting that when someone listed that as a fault, he said he'd taught them the dance. It's not uncommon for schools to do that. Even in Harry Potter 4, they taught them to waltz for the ball.
@@Jorie921 I can’t believe it’s been eight years since I made that comment! Good lord!! A lot of people missed that line!
"Funny, isn't it? You would never suspect that everyone in this school is a professional dancer."

Someone commented the exact same thing a year before you
You coppied this from someone else
I just remember a group of girls trying to recreate this at a homecoming dance, only 4 people were part of it, but I must applaude their achievement no matter how small.
I hope they’re living their lives
Which year did you go to high school?
@@AllenHanPR would have been the 99/00 school year.
This surpasses Carrie has being the most unrealistic prom scene ever.
Well, telekinetic powers aside, the prom stuff from "Carrie" has happened in real-life. It happened to a girl in Texas a few years ago.
ERAUPRCWA Why do kids do that shit? High school is four years of your life and doesn't mean a damn thing when its over.
lkgrave
I know, right?
lkgrave For some people high school is the height of their career (as the sports jock, or popular girl). They remember those years fondly
.
Yeah but it's so fucking cool, so who cares. The 90's rules.
Did anyone else notice the DJ was Usher?
yaaa....thats my cutie (ursher) he was also in The Faculty. ..he's just so danm adorable
+Geoffrey Adams DERP!
Yes they added him to the movie, and this WHOLE SCENE during final filming, because the director decided the movie was too short (1 hour 25 minutes). So they quickly choreographed this dance to stretch the run time
.
Geoffrey Adams um... Were you seriously unaware this was him until now? Did you not watch the movie?
Not at first
Imagine being a date from another school and seeing this. You’d be like “wtf is going on?”
🤣🤣🤣
I know
lmao 😂😂
Agsfahdgahs😂😂😂
this WHOLE SCENE was added during final filming, because the director decided the movie was too short (1 hour 25 minutes). So they quickly choreographed this dance to stretch the run time
.
And it's amazing
How do you call this kind of dancing?
Good decision it’s 🔥asf
Chillness seems like modern day 1960s inspired twist
Kevin Smith can do anything he wants
The fact that EVERYONE missed the part where he literally calls out the DANCE CLUB to take over while everyone else stood on the sidelines, still annoys me 20+ years later. The whole school wasn't doing this dance. 🤦🏾♀️
IKR?
OH MYGOD THEY DID? LMAO, I NEVER NOTICED
Exactly, it was the most creative way to explain why an entire room of people would break out into a choreographed dance and soooo many people missed it. It's a shame because they finally made it make sense!
@@jonathanbutler3346 Well he did say do that dance I taught you.
*whispers* I didn’t realize this until two days ago lol
Am I the only one who always noticed how on point Gabrielle Union was in this scene? She was getting it :)
Charis Armstrong yess the original Chastity Church :)
yep also bring it on
HOW COULD YOU MISS HIM ? HE'S YELLING THROUGH THE WHOLE DAMN THING.
Charis Armstrong Both? There were a lot of hits in the 90s
dont forget about Bring it On
The choreography on this scene was awesome, I loved every minute of it
Shame they cut off the end of it like that, just for some bloody advertisements !
1:16 that dance move is so satisfying
I miss those kind of feel-good teen dance movies from 90s. We all knew it didn’t make sense but it was just fun to imagine that those high schools existed.
I miss the 90s so much..
+Alyssa Arellano amen to that
full of cheese and the last good generation of horror movies
Now they are so predictable
What a time to had been alive 😢
It's up to us who lived through it to bring back that spirit.
🙌
You and me Both. 😔😔😔
I would have rather been a teen in the 90s
I was, at least up until 1999.
I was it wasn’t that great... this is so well choreographed, an timed so everything matches
being a teen now would seriously SUCK
I was a teen in the mid 2000's early 2010's :(
Nah, I graduated the year this movie came out. Never had synchronized dances like this at any of the proms I went to, nor did we have a campus DJ for my school. So cheated.
They could've chosen any track for the final dance, and they chose this...and the result is unexpectedly awesome...RESPECT for whomever choreographed this...Theres Bree Turner @01:15, plus RIP Paul Walker...
Seriously! This dance has so many moving parts to it with different people doing different moves at the same time that compliment each other and people moving in and out of frame. It must have been so amazing to watch them film it! The only other movie dance sequence I could even begin to compare it to is the school dance sequence from "Grease" and even that would've been considerably simpler to choreograph than this (in terms of choreographing around camera movements and the sheer number of people dancing in close proximity at the same time).
Bob Fosse
Why I am still loving this in 2024?!?!
so my godd 😭🫶🏼🫶🏼
Usher says “dance club let me see what you got” Obviously they expect them to dance
Half of the kids in my high school weren't coordinated enough to do the Macarena, let alone do something this intricate.
Kids in my high school were really good at the Cotton eye Joe and the Schottish
after seeing hes all that this dance is still more iconic and not cringey haha
How’s this dance so much better than the 2021 he’s all that version? 💃 🕺
watching this to cleanse my brain from he’s all that
this is un-ironically the best scene in the entire movie
RIP Paul Walker x it is so nice to see you in these early movies dancing xxxx it's great xxxx all the love in heaven brother xxxx
Still can't believe he's gone...♡
@@Mctrexler i can't believe it was 5 years ago
yeah, I miss him too.
😭 mean
One of the best and memorable dance performances in a movie
Thumbs up to that
High school was nothing like this, I want a refund.
Lol! I would dance. 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾
I hate to break it to you but your whole life is never like the movies.
😂
I was forced to watch the horrible remake. This movie was golden!
U weren't forced stop being dramatic and stupid
I still haven't seen it yet
I'm not surprised because the remake is all about commercial gadget & how to become viral ( the millenial lifestyle)
Taylor Vaughn. The Mean Girl before Mean Girls....
She’s my favorite 💕
Kewlo Quiet Ugh.
I only just realised the movie actually contains a sort of justification for the crazy synced choreography when the DJ says "we're gonna do that dance *I* taught you". Also, this movie introduced me to Fat Boy Slim.
Do you know how they call this kind of sync dancing?
Jeremy Stillwell yet here you are
I have prom this weekend and although I know it's ridiculous, I still wish something like this would happen in the middle of it. At least get everyone to do the macarena.
prom in the 90s was not so tight fisted jeeze from what I hear, schools might as well be like footloose good lord, theres no prom king & queen or royal court, its just "prom royalty" pretty stupid if u ask me... whats cool about this scene is its choreographed so well, it looks fun and awesome...
Curious did they do the Macarena? Lol
squishymonkey0518 A synchronized choreographed dance?
My prom was the only really good part of my high school experience. We didn’t elect a queen and king. But I know who would have won. They’re married now.
Wow how old are you now
Everyone in these comments have selective hearing ! “Lemme see the dance i taught you “ he clearly said that 😒😒
Right and he even called the Dance Club to the floor. What's the problem?
@@birdiewolf3497 I saw this movie 100 times growing up and only just noticed on this watch that he called out dance club before I read your comment
I can't watch this scene without remembering "not another teen movie"...
"You never would have thought that everybody at this school is a professional dancer..." 💀Deadass
Fun fact: the director of this film still had some extra time so he put in this choreographed dance to fill in the extra time.
Yes we know. We read the comment section
Yes but the film still sucks
White shirt in the front of the group of men was killing it!!!! I think Lil Kim was in this movie too😂.
I use to rewind this literally 20 times when i bought the movie back then.everything was epic about this movie
Me and a date went to see this movie at the Berkeley Cinema movie theater. 2 years after we saw it, he asked me to go to prom with him and I did😁 And yes, the dresses were this pretty😁 And no, no one had these types of dance moves😂 Being a teen in the 1990's/early 2000's was everything😍
THIS DANCE GIVES ME LIFE, the one in ‘He’s All That’ doesn’t even come close
I like how their all like 27 playing HS seniors
90's were the best years to grow up!!! 😍😍😍😍. That's when great movies were made & music 🥳🥳🥳
I grew up in the 90s and I think this should be one of the most Iconic High School movie scenes ever.
I know this doesn’t usually happen at proms but like I’d still wanna go to school during this time.
One of the BEST dance scenes on film EVER! ❤❤❤
This was such a coming of age movie. This clip was the best dance part. I've always wanted to dance like that.
ginger4238 same I remember being little trying to do the choreography to this scene 😂
I love the part at 1:10-1:20 soooooo much!!
Me too
I miss Freddie Prince Jr 😭😍😍 Ugh so lucky to have lived the 90s 🖤
Early 2000s knew how to make a teen movie, 😭
This was so awesome. They were really getting it haha. And usher was cracking me up xD
I can't get over this scene , SO SIMPLE YET SOOO AMAZING 😍💃✨
Every 90s teen movie had a synchronized dance that everyone automatically knew, regardless of whether they were part of the "cool crowd" or not.
0:57 I love Paul in this part
I use to have a random crush on the White guy in the white shirt (the main dancer in the front). He just oozed confidence that the 13 yr old me did not possess, but so desperately wanted. His dancing as well made me ⏪ .
2021, and I just realized that Usher is the DJ!!!!!!
I watched this last night and ended up here I haven't seen it since it was made. Forgot how much of a great film this was! The dance scene especially and loved seeing our Paul's face 🥺 😇
😂😂😂😂 I hate that I grew up in this generation but love it at the same time
The choreo is so fun and timeless. It's all in the subtleties
0:38 1:35 the guy with the white shirt .... FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just remembered another thing that bugged me about He's all that. It looked cheap as hell. Like a Disney channel movie of the week. Compare that little rinky dink prom...to the one from 20 years ago. Look at all those extras, the cinematography, etc. Big difference
This is so much better then what was in He's All That.
He's all that brought me here.
I want to renact this for my future wedding.
So do I. Also, a future dance party!
I love the rich man's frugg inspired moves. My favorite part.
Too much cheesiness in this scene lol
Ahh...so this is where Wednesday's cool dance came from. All you have to do is pay attention to the entire dance sequence, and you'll see all of the iconic moves there. Just my opinion, of course.
Bob Fosse moves right there.
I watched this the other day and I was in awe at how amazing they all were at dancing😩
the first teenage movie I have ever seen and I am still loving it
Loved this clip ever since the movie came out. timeless!
My favorite is the kid in the white 🤍🤍🤍 shirt
I would have immediately transferred to a different school.
"These are NOT my people"
I would be on the side f... laughting.
I choose this dancing style over twerking and other none sense nowadays dance moves
Everybody dancing to the new crash bandicoot game:
definitely the best high school dance scene ever
Why is the dance like the Wendsday dance lol😙
Ok but the front man with the white shirt was killing it
OMG after 20 years i realized Usher Is the DJ 😂👌
No high school dance has ever been this cool 🤣
I LOVE THIS SCENE SO MUCH!
One of my favorite movie dance scenes 😍💃
The dance move at 1:15 cracks me up every damn time 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Younger me thought that move was so cool but olde me is like ummmm what the hell was that 😂😂😂😂😂… imma still hit it tho 🤣🤣🤣
This was more well coordinated and choreographed than the remake.
One of the best dance breaks!
ICONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feels like Wednesday kinda got her flow from this
I love how coordinated this dance off is....
When I was a kid I just assumed that Americans practiced their choreography really hard during the year ready for the dance 😂
Better than for final exams
Lol. So funny. We thought that about Bollywood so guess it is easy to see how things get lost in translation...cool comment thx
I love everything about the 90s. 👌
This movie makes me soooooooooooooooooooooo thankful that I'm not in high school anymore.
i love you mr. DJ Usher 💃🏼🥰🤗💖
Only came here to see Paul Walker dance! R.I.P PAUL WALKER
Not an opinion, this scene was ALOT better then the new movie scence. Still like "hes all that" slot though 😊
90’s baby ❤.
There are no words to express the amazement I feel by watching this scene....
Gabrielle Union and Lil’Kim (when she was black 😂)
Lil Kim doing this little move at 1:02 is forever burned into my mind
same for me with Dule Hill right before Kim
lol same here
1:43 the guy was so cute
I love that short black halter dress! 😂 low key mad I wasn’t a teen in this era to wear it.
I always loved her dress!!!
