As an ex amateur (i.e. unpaid self financing) Isle of Man competitor I am afraid you could not be more wrong. Real motor cycle road racing (Isle of Man, Irish road races Macau Grand Prix, etc.) is a true sport whereas F1 is a business. Road racers would love an F1 paycheck (who wouldn't) but hate having to grind around an anodyne, sanitised, computer designed, bloated, kart track sitting in an armoured safety cell in accordance with computer calculated instructions from the pit box to earn it. Not a special breed or mad men (and women don't forget), just people who have an unbelievable passion for their chosen sport.
I am not denigrating F1, in fact I follow events on and off the track with great interest but there is no comparison with Real road Racing the only thing they have in common is the principal of the internal combustion engine.
