  • This is my second Freewing MiG-29, the first being a 1st generation, non-thrust vectoring version. While getting the most out of that model, I wanted thrust vectoring (TV). When the latest Red Star version came out with TV already installed and upgraded motors, I began saving up.
My model is only an 8CH set up with TV always active. This video is a combination of the maiden and the 4th in-flight towing ribbons. It has the Spektrum AS3X 8CH receiver and SMC 6S 5300 LiHv batteries. I get approximately 5 mins of flight time with throttle management.
I learned to put approximately 2 degrees of reflex in the main wing from the original MiG model which allows for a nearly neutral elevator setting. The center of gravity is approximately 15mm aft of the C/G markings with the batteries located in the rearward and forward battery bays.
The model lifts off and establishes a positive rate of climb at just under full throttle. Model required no trimming and cruised at 1/2 throttle.
This latest version is a clear winner. While not a high speed demon, it is a flexible and stable flyer. Next is learning all the TV tricks.
