  • In this video I am going to break down the importance of training in the correct zone. I will introduce the basics of training zones and explain what is actually happening in our bodies when we are working out or training.
Our bodies use Glucose and Oxygen to create ATP in order to move. The use of ATP creates water and carbon dioxide which is exhaled and the cycle starts over again.
But what happens when we work out extremely hard and need more energy to keep ourselves moving? We wont have enough ATP in our bodies to supply the demand, so our bodies use straight Glucose for energy. In doing so we create a waste product known as Lactic Acid.
The harder we go, The more lactic acid we create. Endurance training studies have shown that working out at different intensity levels can have drastic effects on how our bodies adapt and get better. So the idea of training zones was introduced to help athletes get the most effectiveness out of their training.
However, in my time as a coach, I have found that athletes train way too hard when they are supposed to be going easy. This can lead to too much stress, fatigue, and even burn out.

Well that was an excellent video. But how does one measure the mmol/L of lactic acid in the blood without having to go to a lab?

There are several options. You can buy a lactate machine set-up for as little as $300-$500. The blood reader is the size of your phone and only requires a small sample. It can give you a read in as little as 60 seconds.

@@BrianHalligan-USA Thank you Brian. I've been watching all your videos, I think they are great. Do you have a video on how to set up a brand new rifle and what adjustments need to be done and why?
