“Baby, do you love me?”
Those were her last words to me. I sat in the driver seat, parked at her house m, she was about to get out. I couldn’t say anything, I was trying to figure out what to say. My voice was going between spats and sputters of nonsense as I tried to come up with something. She got out and went inside. The next day, I called her and she didn’t answer, I tried again two hours later, same result. I knew I fucked up, it was bad, really bad; it’s what started my lifting journey. I swear I could’ve married her, if only I said yes, maybe my life would be different. I wouldn’t have the gym, I know that. So, maybe it could’ve been worse on myself or maybe I could’ve started lifting; I’ll never know.
Things like that happen. We are human, after all. Sometimes, you can never understand what's going through your head. Some minds race faster then others, and either could be seen as a gift. I've been in the same boat. I tried my hardest to fix our relationship after the day I died in her heart. I never got to know how she truly felt. She was worried about my mental health, so she lied to me. It took a long time to accept that, and all I ever wanted was for her to be honest with me. I never got answers to the questions I always wondered. Even to this day, I still ask myself, "Why?". I realize now it's not about knowing the answers, but accepting that you'll never know the answer. Her mind was racing probably just as much as mine was, and I forgive her for acting the way she did. After all these years, forgiveness is the answer. I'm currently going through a breakup actually, and today was the day she decided to end our snap streak. It sounds corny, but a snap streak means the commitment of trying to see each other everyday, even when we were apart; at least, to me that is. I messed up. All I am is sorry. I still love her, but going through my past experiences, and running from all of my mistakes all the time, it's time for me to accept what has haunted me for so long. "Relationships are a two-way street". No relationship is either one's fault. We live in this world, experience things, and feel emotions afterwards. We can experience them either the second it happens, or decades later. The final thing you should takeaway from this; be honest with yourself, forgive yourself, and be content with know the way life truly operates. This is everyone's first life. Nobody knows the correct way to live. There is no correct way to live, or right or wrong answer. Live as you please, and tread softly.
