wow, just what I needed after working with a PT for 3 months who did not really teach me much other than told me some exercises and I need a routine now as I am kinda doing whatever at the gym, following youtube people. I refuse to run or do impact exercise as I do not want to damage my joints so anything without that is amazing:). Am doing stuff on my own now in gym but have lower back pain... I guess I need to stretch more.

We're all looking like a bunch of morons, so don't worry. When I tried using the elliptical, my feet would move backwards, and if I would try to use my hands too, I would simply stop in place. Then I moved to the treadmill, and, as I was adjusting the speed, I forgot my finger on the button that increases it, and I almost ended up on one of those CZcams fail videos. The rest of the time, I would just walk around, looking like I know what I was doing. After using the machines backwards and making a fool of myself, I did break a sweat, and it only got better in the next sessions.
The best thing, that I think that people don't realize... No one cares! No one will watch you, no one will laugh at you, and that's to a point where you're gonna feel bad because they don't do it, you'll be like "c'mon guys, at least laugh at me because I'm a dumbass..."

I’m a 26 year old who weighs 25lbs and I’ve been wanting to tone up for a good while now but I’m usually pretty embarrassed to work out around people who clearly know what they’re doing. Especially when I feel like I’m not using the equipment properly and people are standing around waiting for me to stop making a fool of myself. So this video was pretty helpful and I love that you included the starter routine. That definitely motivated me into going into the gym again so thanks! I’ll definitely be checking out some of the other vids. Also I must ad that your calm voice helps understand the video better. I'm glad you found it valuable.
Helping beginners feel confident in the gym is what I'm all about. There's so much conflicting information out there, so clear and concise instructions are key.
By the way, if you're interested in more beginner-friendly content, I have a whole playlist on my channel dedicated to getting started with strength training. It breaks down basic exercises, proper form, and even warm-up/cool-down routines.

Thank you sooo much David I've just found you!! Exactly what I'm looking for. Had an induction today and I was quite confused re the equipment. My trainer had a limited time to give me but I have the programme and it's set out pretty much like yours. I have subscribed so I'm hoping for more content. I'm especially interested in improving my bone density and general strength. I suffer from a bulging disc in my back which causes sciatica. I'm gonna be busy binge watching all your videos. I have lost 4 stone in the last year so I want to keep it off!! Thanks so much! ❤xx

It can be a lot to take in at first, especially with the equipment.
I completely understand the frustration of limited trainer time. Thankfully, there are tons of resources online to help beginners get started with proper form.
Here's a tip: Many gyms have trainers who are happy to answer quick questions about specific machines. Don't hesitate to ask for a pointer if you're unsure about something!
By the way, on my channel, I have a whole series of short video tutorials specifically on proper form for different gym machines. They might be a helpful resource as you get comfortable using the equipment

Andrew Arvelo (HW) THINGS I LEARNED:
1- The first thing that I learned is that the incline treadmill is equally if not more so effective than jogging on it. This shocked me but is honestly completely understandable, when walking and taking your time, you are always making sure you lift your foot up, and you are more controlled, and more parts of your body are being used.
2- The second thing I did not know is when doing tricep ropes, you can have multiple different positions to choose from, I always thought the frontward way he shows, in the beginning, was the only way.
3- The last thing that I learned is that it is important to do specific parts of your body throughout different days of the week, there should always be leg day, chest day, and back day. Overall it is the best way to make sure you get the best of each workout for whatever it is you may be working on.
