Purdue had Treviom Williams who was a fantastic passer as a strong big. The experience with that will be huge

Main problem with seeing what State is gonna do you really can only use their last nine games because they've been such a different team. State doesn't run one on one too much anymore, they switch A TON and use their speedy guys at the top with Burns or Diarra down low. The match up imo is a bit closer than expected.
Great insight! NC State is on a great run and they will be dangerous. Sounds like Horne, Diarra and Burns are the top threats for NC State. If they all have good games the game will be a tough one. I hope the Purdue shooting returns. We’ll need it this weekend.

Great video as usual! DJ Burns somewhat comparable to Trevion Williams game inside with the contact, spin moves, and passing ability? If so, even tho it has been awhile but it’s what edey played in practice and Purdue has developed in a big man not so long ago!
I see Edey having a "quiet" 20/20 game. 4 (or more) other Boilermakers in double digits scoring.

If we revert back to the mean on 3 point shooting this is another Utah State game. Gillis and Smith will have the biggest opportunities IMO.

They’re slightly above average. They’ll pick their spots to get turnovers but not force an insane amount of

@user-ed8gb2fq9g Sorry, genuine question, but from the stats I've seen per Bart Torvik, NC State is 138th in the country in forcing opponent TOs for the season, 200th when playing top-50, and 272th over their last 10 games. Where are you getting the top 20 number from, unless you're talking about how they rate in not turning the ball over themselves?

Great analysis as always! I noticed that Burns doesn't often get back on defense quickly and it seems like an opportunity for Purdue to take advantage of Edey's superior conditioning. Do you see that happening? You focused (understandably) on the half court offense but I see transition being big advantage Purdue in this one.

Burns aside, NC State is one of the most well conditioned teams in the country.

DJ is actually more like 6' 7" so Edey is going to have a MASSIVE NINE INCH advantage in height. Edey will also have a weight advantage. I hope NC State can gameplan accordingly. GO PACK!!

This game will be won or lost with how well Smith and TKR play. Gillis can’t guard their 4 man (whether that’s Diarra or Burns). And Smith might get bullied by NC State’s backcourt. We will also need Smith to hit shots off the pick and roll big time.

Super smart comparisons of Trevion Williams to Burns. Personally i think Williams was better, at least post moves and passing, but who knows? Regardless, Edey is not going to be surprised by Burns skills. Sorry NCS, no Valvano repeat, Purdue is more due a National Championship opportunity. Too many years, decades, of heart break. It's Purdue's time. I hope. Boiler Up.
You didn't mention that Edey basically camps in the paint for 15 seconds each defensive possession and not get called. If State gets a fair called game then they'll win.

i do appreciate the analysis. however, the nc state vs purdue game will be completely decided by the refs. every play edey (throwing elbows to create space) could be considered a foul, and prob should...but it is never called
If so then every time anybody puts two elbows into Edey, slaps him across the arms, shoved him, or pulls down his shoulder should be called a foul… but it won’t happen every time

I’m a Big Ten channel so it’ll be more Purdue focused naturally but I brought up how Burns can attack Purdue’s post double and how NC State has multiple guards that can get into the mid range against Edey’s drop coverage

@@FeedthePost u know we got another big man also, plus you also know that we are not gonna let Purdue shoot all them 3:s. We're gonna make them come inside and face the force. Of course they're going to get some threes off, but we ain't going to let then shoot 30 or 40 3's in the game. We're going to push them to inside with the big boys to take advantage of them. The only thing we have to worry about is foul trouble. If we come out on top as fast as we were against Carolina and Duke we're going to be unstoppable.
