What I love about this is that you get the original and then you see everything Elvis added to it to make it his own which shows off Elvis's skills as a producer and one of the many things that make him the King and the greatest entertainer of all time. Elvis's version is just much better all around in my opinion.

Robert, I shave to agree with you 100% on your comment. You have the original performers and they maybe be really good, but a songs that is already good and a hit, then Elvis records or performs his way. It becomes known as Elvis’ song and to me they are always better.

@@1madlad I'm sorry...and I am a huge Elvis fan (my favorite singer of all time) but when you talk about You've Lost that Lovin Feeling" you think of the Righteous Brothes......even if Elvis' version is equally good, you dont think of him when you hear YLTLF. Again we need to jump out of the Elvis bubble and be unbiased when saying stuff like what you said.

@@johnclaba1457 Not being in the " Elvis bubble" and I still say I now think of Elvis when I think of this song. I 1st heard it by The Righteous Brothers and loved it. They both have fantastic voices. When I saw that Elvis performed this, I didn't think I would like it as much because I loved the original that much. However, I was wrong. What Elvis brings to the song that goes beyond vocal ability ( they all have that ) is emotion. You feel everything Elvis is singing and that puts it on top for me. It's all about how the song makes you feel and Elvis really makes me feel the song.

Elvis's stage presence, his demeanor, all coupled with his voice and expressions are unsurpassed by anyone past or present. Bill Medley, the one with the low voice was shocked once when Elvis showed up at his performance. He said Elvis tried to be descrete but no luck. Ha. Elvis asked him if it was okay for him do his song. Of course, Bill agreed with pleasure. He later said Elvis was one of the most respectful and nicest guy he ever met. Just thought I would throw a trivia in there.:) It's not a good thing when you lose that loving feeling.:) You're awesome, love you.

The biggest differences between the two versions are that Elvis slows down the tempo and makes it a grinder...as well as using a very original arrangement and complimentary backing vocals, the opening base line and funky bridge "baby, baby I'd get down..." are key. Elvis did two shows a night, seven days a week for a month, 2x a year while in Vegas in 1969 - 73. Polk Salad Annie usually followed this song in his shows.

Elvis and Bill Medley were really good friends. Bill tells the story that on his first run alone in Vegas he didn't know if things were going to go well. While he was singing this song and in the middle of "I'd get down on my knees for you", Elvis and his crew walk on stage and just keep walking. Elvis walks by and says hi Bill. Bill looks stunned and a really WTH moment for him. Night number 2 comes along. Wouldn't you know it? Elvis does it again. Bill was smiling telling the story and was thankful Elvis did that for him.
Bill sang a song call Old Friend for Elvis after he had passed. It is sad. He came to realize (too late) his friend was in trouble and that he might have been in a place to do something about it.

Lol,
P.S elvis made sure Bill's show was always opposite his when he was in Vegas, bill was told you've always got a show here, by the Las Vegas Hilton management. When you were a friend of Elvis he looked after you.

Both performances are outstanding. Elvis puts more soul into his performance. My vote would go to the Righteous Brothers for this particular song; I think they own this. The primary difference for me is I get the beautiful harmonies - and contrasts - between Medley's deep baritone and Hatfield's high tenor voice. Particularly in the bridge where the two go back-and-forth with each other, which is a highlight of the song for me. But I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone voting for Elvis, it's just a matter of personal preference.

I saw a CZcams, Wings of Pegasus where the reactor analyzed Elvis’s vocals. I think you would love it. He has only done 2 or 3 on Elvis, 1 was analyzing his guitar playing and this last one, his singing. Song is from the ‘68 Comeback Special. He goes into depth, breaks down elements that even as a singer I think you will enjoy. Next, 🙀 Bill Medley and Elvis were friends and spent a lot of time together while working at the Hilton. The 1970 Vegas version is OMG!!!
It's the "he has everything" version in my eyes! I always loved the original song by the Righteous Brothers!
It's on the soundtrack from the movie Top Gun and when i heard it for the first time i only thought, "i wished Elvis would have sung it"!
There is a God for sure! 😂
When i heard it by Elvis singing it

    What a charisma!
    What a passion and emotion!

    Did i mention his voice???
And the icing on the cake, his humor:
the suit can't be tight enough in
my eyes! 😁 Of course Elvis made it!
I would like to hear a life version of the RBs to compare both versions.
Would be very interesting i guess.
Don't know if there is one.
The guy with the high voice was the one who sang the original version of "Unchained Melody".
And the one with the deeper voice is Bill Medley, he sang together with Jennifer Warnes the #1 hit "The Time Of My Life" from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.
A great reaction video again Dani!

Coming from someone who's been in that ring so to speak well let's just say it hits home a bit more and in my opinion gives us viewers some substance with your experience and knowledge as an Artist.
As for my humble opinion in this comparison it's difficult for me because mainly you have 2 vs 1. On one hand the song is done as a duet which has a set of entirely different dynamics. On the other it's done solo and that " solo " is Elvis friggin Presley in his prime. So ultimately there is no comparison in my respectful opinion 😃.
I will say this, Elvis's ability to connect with a song his emotive connection to his voice is unlike anyone it's unmatched simply brilliant.

Elvis hands down. Theirs has harmony so that’s kinda two against one. Lol. Elvis, solo, is best to me. If you haven’t already, please put I Just Can’t Help Believin’ from the 1970 Vegas performances.

One thing Elvis doesn't get enough credit for IMO is that he had a vision of the kind of band and arrangements he wanted. He started as a 3 piece band and ended up with an orchestra. He knew what worked. Love watching the rehearsals in the early 70's. He was so tuned in the the sounds.. TCB!

The Righteous Brothers are amazing, beautiful, and powerful vocals. But I think you made an EXCELLENT point about Elvis and the CONNECTION.
Elvis always seems to live and inhabit the lyrics and connect with them, but also somehow this and something in his voice that seems unique to Elvis is his ability to connect the listener to him and the lyrics as well, he really feels the songs and gives so much passion.
So for me to Elvis shines, but both are legends.

    Hi Dani🌻
This song is so beautifully sung by
    both Elvis and the
    Righteous Brothers.
    The reasons I pick
    Elvis version as my
    favorite is 1. His
voice always pulls me into his music
    Immediately.
    2. His dramatic flair
    when interpreting
    his songs
    3. His emotions
transfer from his heart to his entire
    performance which
    for me is irresistible.
( it is a very powerful
    feeling that is hard to
    " explain").
    4. I can't take my eyes
    off of him either..
    sigh......💓😍

Elvis ‘ manager signed him up to do two performances per day for a period of five years!!! I do not understand how he could perform the way he did at the pace he was expected to. However, he never allowed his fans to see anything but his best. A wonderful performer and human being who never stopped adoring God’s exquisite creation, Lisa Marie.
