Looking forward to the install
Thanks for watching! I've gone on one ride so far and it's definitely different than mech shifting. I like it so far 😁 Stay tuned!
Looking forwards to the install and review in action
Thanks for watching! It’ll be a fun little series as I try out hydraulic disc and wireless/electronic shifting for the first time 🤙
The thing that I love is this groupset support 7-13s and does not force us to use 12s like new model electronic groupsets from Sram or Shimano (For me, 11s is enough and it saves money).
Yes! It’s genius to allow different speed/cassette ranges. They also have a rim brake version 😱
AXS 12 works on 11. No idea if it'll work on 13sp when it comes out. But once 13sp is out, 12sp will be priced like current 11sp. I personally can't stand using 11sp now that I have 12 on 6 of my 8 bikes. I wouldn't care if I lived somewhere flat and not windy though.
Can't even find this EDS below 850 in Ali. Lucky you! Been wanting to revive an old bike of mine with rim brakes with this for fun
I was really lucky that I managed to grab a set at this price during the Ali sale!
Before anyone goes to say that the charging port on the rear derailleur is bad interms of design. The port position was designed with the intent on charging once the derailleur is install on the bike where the chain will tension the rear cage away from the port so its a non-issue for anyone looking to fault the groupset.
I personally havent used the groupset but I know a guy who has been using it for months without fault.
Thanks for clearing that up! I figured it was just meant to be shipped in that position to be more compact.
I wish they did a gravel version that used the mountain bike derailleur they make.
There was another video I saw where they said they talked to the Wheeltop folks at a bike industry show, and there will be a mullet/gravel setup coming where they combine the road shifters with a wider range rear deraileur.
@@tomconway6808 oh sweet I didn't see that. I had talked to them on whether it's possible to buy the shifters and rear derailleur and pair them, and they said there is no way to pair them since they are paired at the factory, which also is a bit worrying for like an accident or something
@@JacobWilson Yeah I have heard about the pairing at the factory, and I agree that is kind of annoying that the components are not as interchangeable as the SRAM components. It seems like a huge oversight on their part.
@@tomconway6808 if nothing else than for longevity. Electronics can fail and derailures tend to break in accidents
I read of a few quality and warranty issues. I am not so sure. The New blue LTWOO edition seems more reliable. I would like to hear about your opinions.
I’d be curious to hear what kind of issues people are facing. So far things seem to be good with my groupset 🤞
I just bought a bike with it yesterday. It works great but cannot pair with garmin edge. Did anyone get it done??
Sorry I’m not sure if it can be paired with Garmin head units. Maybe someone else has tried?
Hi Henri, can you run this set with the Magene pes powermeter and a 12 speed Sram cassette with 10 sporcket? Many thanks. Kris
Hi Kris, sorry I’m not entirely sure if it’ll fit all of those. I’m assuming it should fit the Magene pes power meter, and it should work for 12 speed cassettes, but again not 100% sure it’ll work with that combination specifically. Hoping someone else can chime in?
@@henrychungfitness FTI Only Shimano will work with Magene chainset and Wheeltop. But wheeltop and Sram chainset will work well.
Did you consider the ltwoo er9/erx groupset from aliexpress?
I did consider it, but ultimately wanted to try full wireless. For the price it was a no brainer for me to go with the Wheeltop 👍
450 bucks for these sets? That's actually crazy! Dahek! I want to own these Wheeltop more than Ltwoo, because of the easiness of installation, no internal cable routing for power cable, only needing cable for brakes!
Ltwoo only has cable routing for rear shift and seat battery tube. The shifters are wireless. Similar to shimano.
@@pigupigu It still wired to the battery unit, which doesn't make it completely convenient as Wheeltop one which battery are located within derailleur itself. Both has its own benefits and cons, and i prefer SRAM or Wheelstop style more. I just wished that Wheeltop would have removable battery system as SRAM...
@@penzuugi yup, the non-replaceable battery is the only no-go for me. Even if the will do factory replacements, I don't wanna mail my derailleurs out and wait for them
Hi Henry! I assume you have been running the wheeltop for a while now. Would you recommend over the Sram groupset? Thanks for your valuable advise.
I’ve never tried the SRAM groupset, but from what I’ve heard SRAM has quick access removable batteries which is a cool feature. The Wheeltop doesn’t, but is also about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost which is why I’d choose Wheeltop over SRAM 👍
@@henrychungfitness In Europe the groupset costs about 750euros. The Sram Rival AXS costs 1250euros but includes the chainset with power meter, chain and cassette So unless the Wheeltop is better quality or lighter, I would opt for Sram..
@@kristiaandoms2822 750 euros is too pricey. I paid the equivalent of 440 euros on AliExpress
@@henrychungfitness You have been lucky. They are more expensive now, and you have to add various taxes in Spain.
So the batteries on the derailer don’t come off? So you have to park the bike somewhere close to an outlet so you can charge? Hmm 🤔
I’m sure there’s some way to swap batteries but it will have to involve tools and patience. Alternatively you can bring a battery bank, but I’ll probably keep tabs on it and charge once a month or so. I do worry that I might get stranded one day if something happens with the shifting or it suddenly dies
How did you get it down to $ 675 Cad... I search it and it is around $900 Cad
I got really lucky a month ago during the Ali sale! I think maybe sellers realized how popular they were and raised the prices a bit?
FYI, there is a company in china which partnered with Wheeltop and they sell full carbon road bikes with this full EDS kit for ~650USD (750 with carbon rims), miking it cheaper than the kit separately. I ordered mine to checkout how good they are.
@@yegorzakharov8514 holy geez they’re basically giving away the bike at that price?!
Get a new Oring before you waist the shifter. Just to be on safe side. I got sram force on my hygge but not complete groupset I am using kmc chain and 12 speed shimano aliexpress cassette. Not perfect but good enough. The EDX is more flexible. Maybe you can get one of those riro 11 speed cassettes to go with it they are so light starting at 145gr.
Agreed, luckily the seller on Ali was able to ship me a replacement set that should be coming in the mail soon! My previous groupset was Shimano 105 with Sensah Teampro shifters which worked well. The toughest thing is maintenance though on the 4 cables running through the handlebar and frame (I do all the bike work myself since I'm learning on the go). The bike so far weighs about 17.36lbs which is the same as when it was mech.
@@henrychungfitness mine is a 54CM and weighs 7.2kg pedals bottlecage and all. Wheels are tubular got tufo s33 pro on high mileage up to 4000 without puncture. My carbonspoke wheels were stolen. Would have been even lighter. But I lost 5kg training which is better. Look forward to build.
@@andrewmurgatroyd9214 oh wow that’s light! Congrats on the 5kg weight loss, that’ll go a much longer way in your cycling 💪
Your so lucky to get it for 650! 880 seems the norm now. Is this much cheaper in price than Ltwoo? LTWOO has a new blue edition which I can't seem to find online yet
If you got it for free, it would be fair with everybody to say it!
I did not get it for free 😂 I paid $650 CAD of my own money off AliExpress during the March sale
Current price for Wheeltop EDS TX is 739, stop misleading people!!!!!
Price must’ve gone up 🤷♂️ I got mine for a wicked deal at $650 CAD
Everything doesn't stay the same price indefinitely from every seller😂
I got mine for $450 USD. RIP to the people who are now having to buy these at over $700 lmao... They jacked up the price once all the good western reviews came out.
Pretty soon Shimano will drop their price of at least 50%.They have no alternative, soon other Chinese Mfg of electronic bike group device will come on the market.
If Shimano or Sram want to stay in the market, they need to bring the price down.
Otherwise they will be' history.
