But that verse doesn’t mean we just take abuse, we can stand against it if we need to defend ourselves, we just can’t abuse others in revenge. Jesus is trying to get us to understand that revenge and unnecessary violence (physical, verbal, etc.) against another who has wronged you is wrong.
