Generally speaking Hollow terminology is inspired by Spanish, Quincy terminology is inspired by German, and Soul Reaper terminology is inspired by Japanese.

@@bluemonger I know it's just a funny comment and I hate to be that guy, don't take this as an attack or anything. Just trying to be informative. I don't think there's any pattern here. Unlike the Arrancars, Spain stayed mostly neutral throughout the entire conflict. And while Quincys and Shinigami are sworn enemies, Germany and Japan were allies alongside Italy forming the Axies.

When I say pattern it’s more because we saw shinigami as « enemies » during the Soûl Society arc, then the arrancars as enemies and Then the Quincies. But Obviously that’s not how Kubo wanted to make us feel. If I recall He chose the names in different langages because he really likes foreign cultures and langages

Ichigo is literally traumatized for not protected his mother, then he carries in his shoulders the weight of proctect his loved ones. Rukia knows it very well, thats why she already knows what Ichigo would said, but it'doesnt mean that she agrees.
8:32 This apology isn't important to Orihime. It's for Ichigo. It's so he can let go of the situation and move on. He's used to taking things on himself, so he feels a lot of responsibility. Because in many situations, he's one of the few people who can make a difference and win.
The Arc is Spanish themed. Arrancar means “to rip off or take off” which is what the arrancar do to their mask to gain soul reaper power. Espada meaning sword. The ost in this arc is heavily Spanish inspired and it’s amazing.
I think your POV on the rukia/ichigo interaction makes sense.
I think ichigo felt ashamed of not being able to protect Chad and Orihime, and was reluctant to face them, so Rukia making him confront that “fear” was probably good. But she also reinforced the idea that everything does fall on his shoulders, which is not healthy for him.
Some call it toxic, I call it inspiring.
I believe not acepting the apology in that context and for those reasons is not good, dude is showing kindness and you shouldn't diminish nor punish that.
Well, I mean you need 2 to tango, so while it is true that telling Ichigo "I don't hold you up to that standard" doesn't really matter, he knows, it's his (impossibly high) standards that he's not meeting, and yes sure, if he feels that need to protect you it's because he considers you one of the people he loves
But he also fails to consider that his way to express love hurts people in ways they might not be willing to accept. if you expressing your love for me is what leads you to beating yourself up when you inevitably fail how do you think it makes me feel knowing that one of the people I love puts themselves in unnecessary, terrible pain because of me (when it isn't because of me but is impossible to not to feel that way)
So while I agree that it shouldn't be diminished I do however think it should be addressed and therefore technically punished, maybe not in the moment, the guy is beginning to stand back up, he probably couldn't take that conversation right then and there and while he IS using his trauma as a driving force rather than dealing with it, which is absolutely not healthy, aizen is probably not going to wait for Ichigo to get his shit together with a therapist for all you know
Which is why later on tatsuki and Rukia are 100% justified feeling frustrated enough to smack Ichigo, like, he's trying to protect tatsuki (which is how he shows his love for you) from the impotence he's feeling not being able to do anything about orihime, and how does that make her feel? Not only impotent bc she knows something's going on with her friend inoue but also like she's generally inadequate and it makes her feel like her relationship with Ichigo is not one of peers who can look at each other eye to eye, as if they're not friends, because even if you understand where he's coming from it still means you're not peers and is patronizing regardless of his intent. That is a direct example of Ichigo's mindset being detrimental to everyone involved, that's what we call toxic (not to mention that this scene from this episode is what compels orihime to feel inadequate and makes her take Ulquiorra's deal hoping and praying Ichigo wouldn't put himself at risk again)

6:00 No, I totally agree with you. I assume what they're going for is to make him feel okay with his past mistakes, in the sens that he wasn't able to face Orihime earlier, but then he'll just feel bad if he loses again imo. It's just gonna reinforce that. Especially Rukia phrasing it that way.

You’re absolutely right about everything, but still. I feel like the way Rukia sees it is. If you didn’t back up for a single second while trying to save me, why would you now? Rukia of all people knows what Ichigo is capable of. If he’s not able to defeat or overpower someone, he WILL go ahead and be the first one to go on with a way do so. If not he’s more than willing to die in the process, because Rukia herself did that for him back when they met. It’s not that people expect him to do so. 😂 I bet they all wish he just kept himself out of trouble but this is Ichigo we’re talking about.
Rukia herself told Ichigo to stay back and not to come into soul society to save her, and what did our main guy do? He showed her he wasn’t just going to sit back and hope for things to get better. He went ahead and did whatever he could to save her knowing full well his chances were almost none. He’s more than willing to put his life on the line for the people he cares about, and that meant, if he had to die while trying to save Rukia, so be it. That’s why Rukia won’t allow him to just lay down in bed. She obviously knows Ichigo has the right to do that, but she also knows first hand Ichigo won’t take that.
Ichigo is hesitant to apologize for his weakness (not because it is expected of him or some intersectional bs) but because he promised to himself that he will protect everyone he cares about. Even Rukia knows that Ichigo is absolutely useless if he remains in this weak-minded state.
Man...I love Rukia so much...she's such an awesome character. She is literally Yoruichi's only rival for best girl of this anime.

I know others have said this, but you have to understand Ichigo. The dude literally wants to protect everyone. It's why he took the powers in the first place. It's why he fought. It why he trained and regained his powers. It's why he refused to lose to Kenpachi. It's why he learned Bankai. It's why he stood up to Aizen.
And it's not just Orihime. It's literally the reason he and Chad became friends. He literally said that older brothers are born first to protect their siblings.
Ichigo wants to protect everyone. Especially those he loves.
And that very same instinct to protect others is what got his mother killed. Which probably only made that instinct worse. Since he failed to protect anyone that day and one of the most important people to him died as a result.
Rukia was telling him what HE needed to hear. You're upset because you couldn't protect others? Because you think the Hollow may hurt them? Get stronger, then.

I think Orihime herself is dealing with her own feelings of powerlessness, especially fo help Ichigo. So she definitely doesn't think he needs to burden everything on his own or that he is weak, but Orihime is relieved he regained his confidence at least. She didn't care about getting an apology so much as seeing him doing all right again. It's ironic because Ichigo feels responsible for not being strong enough and couldn't face them and all that, but at the same time Orihime herself feels responsible too for him ending up in that position.

The thing about Ichigo is that he knows nobody would hold him accountable for failing at things in general and if someone did he wouldn't give it any extra care, but he does hold himself up to that (impossible) standard, not because he thinks himself as so grand he should be able to clear those standards but because he feels like he HAS to, because the only difference between orihime, Chad and himself compared to Ichigo's mom is that help arrived on the last possible second for them, had Yami talked less or Ulquiorra stepped in they'd be all dead, so Ichigo feels he has to be the safety net under the safety net just in case today there's no safety net and I don't see a way you could talk someone like Ichigo who defined who he is at his core Based on his trauma, and because of his uncompromising nature when it comes to his beliefs not even friends telling him "my guy, I know you're not trying to but you feel incredibly patronizing, I feel we're not friends who consider each other pairs and this cannot go on any longer" could break him out of it, The most that can accomplish is him cooling it a little bit
And his sulking is not much as it is being afraid and forcefuly paralyzed, he's afraid to be the cause of death of his people but he's also paralyzed because the thing that he uses to solve most of his problems has a very real chance to explode on his face, training is a sort of a "oh no, the jaguars ate my face" conundrum which leaves him having time to process his situation, which isn't helping because he probably does that AFTER solving his problems not while he has them and he can't see the way out
Only after having one of his friends telling him "wanna get stronger? Get stronger then, do not hesitate" is that he decides to ask for help from his best bet, the vizards, a group that could put him at odds with the soul society (and the people he likes from there) but most importantly uryu, orihime, Chad all the people who are diametrically opposed to hollows, on top of all the other shit going on
It's a bit pertinent that you talked about the whole toxic masculinity thing. For its time i think this show does a pretty good job with it, especially in certain moments. It is over 20 years old. To an extent it gets with the times a bit too. The new anime changed a few things which may have offended some.
In this case though its not some male macho thing. Its more to do with ichigo particularly. He sorta talked about this to jidanbo but his name means "to protect one thing" or "number one protector". something like that. So its kind a curse. Add that to the fact his mother died when he was young and he blamed himself for it and he had to protect his sisters growing up its like a mental illness he has to protect everyone and hes a failure if he doesn't. Its a lot different to when other main characters want to protect their friends.
The menos grande classification stuff confuses everyone so i wouldn't worry about it. Through watching the series and learning over time and people constantly correcting you in the comments you'll get it eventually.
Quite frankly, without spoiling, I can just say that you don't really have to remember the Arrancars hierarchy (Gillian < Adjucas < Vasto Lordes).
And yes, the Hollow terminology is (and will keep being) based on Spanish.
I think the reason Rukia forced Ichigo to say sorry isn't because weakness is the problem (although Soul reaper culture is pretty toxic about strength) but the problem was Ichigo was internalizing his regret at "failure" and had been avoiding Inoue since then. Sometimes vocalizing your emotions and feelings, even if they aren't logical or even the healthiest, can do wonders. And it forced Ichigo to confront what he'd been avoiding.
I don't think what you said was wrong but I just have a slightly different take.

We don't know how many were Vasto lorde befor they Turned into Arrancar.
And like Toshiro said only few Vasto lorde exist and again average speaking A Vasto lorde is stronger then a average captain.
He didn't say they are stronger then all captains who are around.

Don't know if you were explained this but the anime is severly censor compare to the manga that sometimes was close to gore with the amount of blood there is. Also, Orihime becomes really annoying in the anime (not the character but the way they use her sometimes). Hopefully TYBA will fix her up. 😅

@@nkosinathisibiya600 yeah I know, that why I wrote the way they use her. The character of Orihime is really good. She is pretty deep if you follow her journey. The shines in the last arcs, after she witnessed some of the strongest beeings in the world, and she, a mere human with no power (compare to them) still dares to stand up against them.

Orihime actually said the thing that you want her to say here but later on in the arc. It's about her character development and how her dynamics with Ichigo changes throughout the series.
I get your prospective, especially since older anime had this tendency of making female characters so have this princess helpless vibe. And Orihime is not helpless, she ws just outmatched severely.. Why didnt they she ask him to apologise to chad? Like Orihime is part of the squad, as a fighter too, shes not Ichigos daughter. Would have been better for him to simply stick to worrying about her injuries,not feeling like he should apologise for not being her knight and shining armor. Tatski and Chad got hurt too, why do we have tor treat her like a fruit cake. Shes a field support warrior, everyone knows the dangers, now the forcing her to play princess.
I think the reason he apologise is because Orihime gets hurts AFTER Ichigo's arrival. It was the fact that he came and did nothing that was killing him. Also the fact that he knows what he is capable of, but the hollow scared him of using it probably makes him feel pretty impotent.
