i don't remember the exact event but there was a hindu guy who said a line that still stayed in my heart truely, "Kya tumne kabhi Gita aur Quran ko larte hue dekha hai? aur joh unke liye larte hai, kabhi parte hue dekha hai?" as a muslim this line really touched well and a perfect reply to all Hindus and Muslims extremists.

@@ArtHubAcademy nope...u r wrong..in india historically voting rights were there only for those who had "matriculation"...that is only certain "educated , privileged sections" had right to vote...so mostly it was the upper caste Hindus who were educated at the time, and only few muslims and minorities had voting rights becoz education was very less in Muslim sections...so most of those who voted for the Partition to happen were the upper caste Hindus by sheer majority...Muslims had very lil say as only a very few muslims were educated and hence had voting rights then...Only the Muslim league leaders n few muslims, but majority who voted for partition were Hindus...so stop blaming Indian Muslim's of today for the partition that happened long time ago...we don't blame Hindus for it..it is the British that played the "divide n rule" card to polarize both sections at that point...not Hindus or Muslims of India are at fault.

My family are Indian Punjabi Sikhs. My dad's side was from Lahore, and they fled to India after the Partition. My great-grandfather passed away with a lasting wish that he would get to see the city he grew up in before he passed on. Truly, India wasn't divided. It was Punjab and Bengal that were divided.

In ancient times people of many religions and cultures lived in our Bharatvarsh happily. How harmonious, rich culture we had! We were united by the country and it definitely made us powerful. On 15th August, on India's Independence Day, the *tricolour*, our national flag is "hoisted", whereas on the 26th January, that is, on our Republic Day, it is "unfurled". What is the difference between hoisting the flag and unfurling the same? Well, on 15th August, the flag is kept folded, down at the middle of the flag pole, and is pulled up at the tip of the pole before it is spread out. This is hoisting of a flag. It signifies the country was freed after a span of colonial domination. On the other hand, on 26th January (since 1950) the tricolour is unfurled, that is, the flag stays high up at the tip of the flag pole, (not at the middle or lower height of the pole) folded, and is spread out with the pull of the rope. This is unfurling of the tricolour. It signifies that as a flag of an already free country, it cannot stay hung at a lower height, but is held high above. Partition was a foolish move: before partition my great grandfather was one of the elite muslim(who opposed partition) after partition my grandfather was not able to complete his studies reason being don't have enough money.

The referendum was taken in Bengal, but no one was allowed to vote except party members of muslim league and hindu mahasabha. 95% of the people were against partition. My grand Father was a doctor. When we left East Bengal and came to India all the neighbours (who were muslims) repetitively asked us to stay back, giving the assurance that they will give their lives before anything happens to us. But we were so much frightened that all left in one night.

I was watching Heeramandi, which spiked my interest in the British rule over India. And this video is just perfect to summarize everything. As Pakistani, we are only taught about a one sided story, but this really helped my horizon to understand the full picture. I wish us Muslims and Hindus were still together, we would have been so strong. Good for India to be emerging really well economically, proud of them. I would only like to note that unfortunately a majority of Muslims in every province of India - Madras (Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh), UP (including Uttarakhand and Haryana), Bihar, Bombay (Maharashtra and Gujarat) and Central Provinces (Madhya Pradesh) BACKED Muslim League in the 1946 elections when it was openly calling for Partition. The Muslims of today must recall and repudiate the errors of their ancestors.

Later some muslims returned to india and bangladesh got seperated from pakistan with the help of india despite being a muslim majority country due to discrimination done by pakistan.

It signifies the country was freed after a span of colonial domination. On the other hand, on 26th January (since 1950) the tricolour is unfurled, that is, the flag stays high up at the tip of the flag pole, (not at the middle or lower height of the pole) folded, and is spread out with the pull of the rope. This is unfurling of the tricolour. It signifies that as a flag of an already free country, it cannot stay hung at a lower height, but is held high above.
This is a small but very significant aspect of how our tricolour is honoured with the country's history.

I was watching Heeramandi, which spiked my interest in the British rule over India. And this video is just perfect to summarize everything. As Pakistani, we are only taught about a one sided story, but this really helped my horizon to understand the full picture.
