- Description : This is my new recumbent trike I had built. Its been built more for reliability than outright lightweight and speed. I've done about 400 miles on it so far with no problems at all. Best fun I've ever had, although you will get some strange looks and questions.
I’ve had 7 surgeries on my spine. 7 fused vertebrae and titanium knees. These trikes are awesome
thank you so much! that was a great vid! im from the states and looking at how everyone outfits their rides, im currently building one from plans, its nice to see quality vids that help!
Thanks, Ive now got a Magnum Big Wheel as well. Ive done a walk around on that one too.
I've been informed by Micheal who built this trike that the "T" in MRT (the model designation) stands for TOURING. So MRT stand for Micheal Rogan Touring. You learn something new everday !
In the process of building a similar trike now, hopefully will be complete in a few weeks.
Just curious, what trike were you originally looking for that nobody had in stock? Just bought a 2nd hand Greenspeed GT3, looks like a copy of my frame but with direct steering.
Sweet, but HOW does she RIDE???
Thanks for the vids and your thoughts on this trike - same one I was looking at a couple years ago and still intend to buy in the near future. I've got the Skipton Rail Trail around Ballarat which is quite nice but I really want to ride one of these up to Reid's Lookout in the Grampians - and then a fantastic downhill trip back to Hall's Gap
How 'safe' have you felt on the roads on this compared to a conventional pushy? Thanks - John
+quedecree Hi John, sorry I took so long to get back to you. I'm not far from you, just near Bacchus Marsh. I've also now got myself a rotovelo velomobile. Two different beasts, if I was hillclimbing, I'd be taking the MR trike. I feel quite safe on the road, and I don't use a flag, I hate the look of them. People tend to give more room because they are so different. I do use very bright lights, day or night.
Tim
Hi John, have you bought a recumbent trike yet? Compare the "cross-over" steering on a Greenspeed trike with the "direct" steering of this trike. Greenspeed is a more natural "push-pull" action, whereas the MR system is a "side to side" action. I enjoy your kite and kite buggy videos, by the way!
If you don’t mind me asking, how much did it set you back? Some of the US models I’ve been looking at, run around $12k... are they still this expensive in Australia?
You ca n buy a Greenspeed or Ice trike for under AU $5000
Nice set up be better with small gas engine on it like my 20 inch wheeled bike my kit from Bike Motor Parts now trading as road bug moters
Looks like the trike is built based on the plan sold by greenspeed.
Size of tire 2.00 or bigger?
They were 1.75. I have also had Big Apple tyres which were 2.1 from memory
Oh look! A thumbs down from someone who can’t afford one!
Lol
Really useful video mate do you still have this bike?
Not any more. Wish I still did. Like a lot of things, you always think newer/bigger/shinier etc. will be better but realise often it's not. I'm still in touch with Micheal at MRRECUMBENTTRIKES.COM and did some videos on his latest build. That's a nice trike as well.
Hay Mate don't call yourself Fat Tim! change it to Big Tim sounds cooler!
