I never listened to any of these bands anyway, except for The Mammas & Pappas.
Yes!! I could careless what the band members do or believe as long as I like the music. I love Dissection, Emperor, Gorgoroth & Mayhem despite the controversy
The fact that Anti Flag is missing is a disgrace
I´ve never heard of one of these bands before🤔.....this had to be scrapped from the bottom of the barrel🙄
Nope!! I stopped listening to LP as soon as I heard about Ian and his abhorrent actions. I also stopped listening to Mindless Self Indulgence and Marilyn Manson for what they have done too. MSI is a band full of p3d0s and Marilyn is a narcissitic abuser. I will not give money, time, or energy to people like this. I do not support abuse, harming children, nazi shit, or anything of the sort.
We all knew that Ian Watkins was going to be number 1.
Honestly, none of these picks are more heinous than Ian Watkins.
And class with a capital C on WatchMojo for saying his acts were so heinous that they couldn't mention it.
Indeed! I'm ok with Mayhem coming second to that P.O.S. even though they are pretty heinous as well
Because we all know what he did ..... Absolutely disgusting. 😢

I already loved Corey but he now has a special place in my heart for that comment.

Im on the fence here, jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris toured hospitals and abused the vulnerable kids and disabled sexually and they had no voice for their trauma also. Was like a shopping centre of choice for them, people involved knew what was going on, covered up and those that tried to speak out were silenced and careers ruined, those brave souls deserve an apology, the BBC knew what they were doing. These facts are brought up in many documentaries on these evil pedos
I'm disappointed that Ian Watkins isn't called out for what he did in the video. You don't have to describe what he did, but not calling him a psychotic pedophile is pretty weak in my opinion. That guy is a monster!

I just read the Wiki article and I wonder, does the guy come from a very influental family or something like that?
Cause the fact that absolutely nothing about his family is mentioned and that he had to get reported countless times before anything happened makes me think there's important information missing.
Ivan and 5fdp are still good, he’s gone sober for multiple years now and is working to better himself and the band
The community just doesn't know people can change
I don't know what's worse, Ian Watkins' behavior or the fact that police knew about it for years and did nothing.
It’s the courts and judges. Cops can’t do anything without a judges signature.
That the police/courts/attorneys/judges knew. So not only was the monster allowed to continue knowing he was getting away with it, but those whose duty it is to protect the innocent + defenseless let it it keep happening.

In my opinion Euronymous from Mayhem should have also been included on the list since he himself was so deranged that he coerced his bandmate Dead into committing suicide, then photographing his dead body and turning it into an album cover.

At least we can rejoice in the fact that Ian Watkins is repeatedly under attack in jail and recently got shanked because of a drug debt
He isn’t repeatedly under attack in jail, he was attacked once due to the celebrity status he seems to get in jail and the fact that people were getting guitar lessons off of him and woman still wrote to him as fans, not due to a drug debt.
He gets released in a couple years
@@neil420alldayWrong. He was shanked the other day over a drug debt. He got spice off of another inmate with a prison value of $150. Because he's a rich, psychopathic pedo, they demanded $900, and he refused to pay. That's why he was shanked.

Thank you for acknowledging Ian Watkins. So many people outside of the UK don't know about the horrific crimes that this thing committed against children. Sadly, rock stars who are genuinely kind and all-around good people like Chester Bennington and Kurt Cobain are dead and people like Ian are still alive or on the verge of dying and committing horrendous crimes.
Actually lots of people all over the world knew about Ian Watkins’s crimes.
Those so called good guys all killed thrmselves. If they were so great even to a child toucher… they didn’t value themselves as much as they should. So in a way Ian is a better man than both of them

@@Bfratman good
29 years isn't long enough for Watkins
He should never see the light of day again.
In fairness, a number of other inmates have tried their best to make his sentence as short as possible 🤷
agreed
My dads killer was sentenced to 30 years. That was a bit less effed up situation
He got another six for hiding a phone up his ass and he got stabbed last year
Many things make me angry and sick about Ian Watkins' case. But what makes the situation worse is that his ex girlfriend spent FOUR years trying to bring attention of this to nearly every police department in the UK and was ignored. Even getting responses that she was just a bitter and jealous ex. She even got Watkins to send her disgusting content so she could get evidence to show she wasn't lying.
Watkins only got busted in the end because of drug possession. You would think his ex got an apology, but you'd be dead wrong. In fact, police tried to charge her with possession of content with the snapshots and images she had to use as evidence against Watkins. Thankfully the charges were dropped.
She should of sued the police
Yup
"...While the charges are way too awful to relay here..."
And that is still an understatement regarding the things Ian Watkins did.

There has to be a reason. Her own sister said it was false. Why is that? Maybe it is false. Maybe it is true. But because she waited until the man was dead to come out with anything makes you wonder. If she would have said something sooner it could have been proven, but as it stands. Take the story with a hefty helping of salt, because there is no way of proving it.
McKenzie Phillips: The thing with abusers is that they often abuse in secret and they don't always abuse everyone. Some abusers use the non-victims to build up their reputation in order to facilitate the abuse and to create deniability for the abuse. Also, some abusers simply have a 'taste' for who they want to abuse and who they want to leave alone. It further isolates and traumatizes the victim to have their family say, "You must be lying because nothing happened to me."
BTW, check into author Alice Munro. Authors who have their reputations re-evaluated?
What happened to McKenzie was so terrible. It explains so much to her substance abuse. Her story broke my heart.
Hard to say five finger were ruined since they still went platinum multiple times after the incident
These are the same type of people that would call a guy like phil labonte a failed musician.

2 years for hiring a hit man to kill her ex wife. Smh.
And the Scandinavian guys actually committing murder and getting out in less 10 years, in two separate stories.
What's funny is that the hitman was a cop undercover 😂😂
because no hit man was actually hired, and no one was hurt. And it was that short as he was paroled for clearly not being a further risk, his sentence was longer at 6 years. Which lines up with attempted direct murder would be that starts as low as 5 years in the US.
More disappointing is how easy it was for him to continue with his career afterward because there was money to be made.
Judge must've known she was a b too😂

I have always said that if Ian was not the front man of LP then it would have been easier to carry on. But when the voice of the band is the identity of those songs there is no way to recover.
John Mellencamp's former keyboardist Eric Rosser was convicted of those types of crimes. He was even of the FBI's most wanted list alongside Osama Bin Laden for a bit. It doesn't seem to have tarnished Mellencamp's music, even though the guy played on some of his biggest hits, like "Jack and Diane." People don't pay attention to the keyboard player.
I read the entire court report for Ian Watkins and when I tell you, it made me reconsider having kids, I'm not joking
Well, he's not going to do anything to them now. Besides, those mothers willingly gave their kids to him so he could do that (apparently they were so in love with him, they couldn't see that was a horrible thing to do) and the mothers got locked away for 15 years. As long as you don't do that, you don't have to worry about him.
Doesn’t surprise me that three black metal bands appeared on this list.
As a metalhead I still listen to them, but let’s keep our religious beliefs to a non-extremist point.
Four: Gorgoroth, Dissection, Emporer, and Mayhem are all black metal
It's not the extremism concerning "religious beliefs" that's f*cked up - it's the xenophobic ultra right extremism...
I can't stand Burzum but I'll throw on Emperor often and occasionally Mayhem. I just find Burzum unlistenable
whats up with black metal band people killing queer people? no big difference from church people sadge
@@NicoDoesLP 'cause burzum is atmospheric/ambiental black metal and emperor/mayhem are just black metal..big difference.

Finally someone has the balls to add Lost prophets to a list like this!
And of course, Norwegians will be all over this... I use to love black metal, and their influence and evolution, musically, is incredible.
As a Canadian, I stopped listening to Hedley after what happened to the lead singer back in 2018.
That's your choice. I can understand your stance and respect your decision and right to have that decision. But I still love Hedley and still listen to their music. I feel like one person should not be punished for the criminal actions of others.
@@jenmck23Multiple band members were accused of doing horrendous things. The whole damn band is problematic. Stop defending them.
@@jennifergreen6510 I don't recall hearing of other criminal accusations. Unfortunately enabling and before aware of questionable things the front man was doing is not in itself criminal. I'm not saying they are great guys but in my opinion their is a difference between rock and roll drugs and lots of sex versus criminal actions with underage fans. The only accusations I could find in a quick Google search as a refresher were pointing to "rock and roll behaviour". Not illegal acts by other band members but certainly not respectable ones. I also am more defending the fact that their music can still be good without liking the individual themselves. But my understanding was Jacob was the problem and not other band members who as gross as it is, turned a blind eye and enabled him which isn't necessarily illegal or criminal. But I feel like the other members shouldn't be held to the same wronged name if they are talented individuals who just happened to be in the band with a creep and problematic front man. We are each entitled to our own opinions. I also may be on the controversial side of things with separating the music from their everyday lives. Like not liking an actor but loving their character in a movie or TV show. Appreciating the talent and skill without condoning the actions of the individual.
@@jenmck23 I think unless a person themselves is a victim of a crime that has been perpetuated by an artist, then it becomes less ambiguous on whether or not to differentiate the art from the artist
It should be noted that while Tim DID return to As I Lay Dying, 3 of the 4 other members all left within the next two years, so it's not as if everything was just fine and dandy.
He also already went through 3 different love interests that left him too
But they didn't all leave because of Tim. Nick more or less left because of him, but that had more to do with what the band was and wasn't doing in terms of moving forward. Jordan, well we may never know, all we know is that he only corresponds through his lawyer and sought a monetary payout. Josh left to pursue new musical endeavors, ie. he joined Spiritbox, which is not different than Eloy Casagrande leaving Sepultura to join Slipknot.
What's crazy is how many of these people got slaps on the wrist for murder or attempted murder. Watkins should have gotten life.
You forgot Anti-Flag who lead singer is accused of multiple counts of rape on several women.
I think because these are cold cut closed concluded cases, and Justin Sane is just on the run instead of on trial. Like everything here has been proven, and nothing alleged.
Is it several women? I only heard about the one. I am not defending him I think his actions after it was revealed show he is guilty
@@ronjames4151The fact he ran instead of faced trial and fought it doesn't help his case.
@@ronjames4151 more women came forward after the 1st one.
I came here to say this! I saw Anti-Flag open for Flogging Molly a couple of months before the news broke. I'd heard of them, but never heard their music before (I didn't end up liking it).
The lead singer was pretty much preaching about loving everybody, caring for the Earth, etc. between songs. I agree with these sentiments, but it felt forced coming from him for some reason. Like he was trying too hard?
Needless to say, I was surprised by the news when it came out.
Also...the fact that the band broke up IMMEDIATELY after the news came out leads me to believe that not only do they believe that he did those things, but they KNEW he was doing them.

Guns and Roses, one of the most iconic hard rock bands of all time, is a band some have come to hate because of their frontman, Axl Rose.
Axl and Slash (lead guitarist) allegedly had sex with a 15 year old girl back in 1985; which lead to statutory rape charges.
In 1992, Axl was arrested for his involvement in the Riverport Riot. He then recieved a lawsuit from an audience member who was attacked during the ordeal.
Axl committed numerous crimes, and was hit with numerous lawsuits throughout his career. These were just his two most infamous misdeeds.
It honestly does not surprise me that Ian Watkins was on here, like what he did was undeniably fucked up and has no redemption whatsoever
What is with Scandanavia and releasing murderers/attempted murders in like 5 years? Like that is a fair trade not even a punishment
This is exactly what I thought. Obvious hate crimes on top of it.
I think their court system etc is based a lot around rehab of criminals and letting them back into society. They dont really believe in locking people up for life etc. Bt i could be wrong. Jst going by what i have seen in the past
Gotta love Europe and their easy on criminals sentencing
In general, Scandinavia puts more emphasis on rehabilitation than they do retribution. There's some logic to the idea. The American prison system and its lengthy sentences has an insanely high recidivism rate, thanks in no small part to the way ex-cons are treated when they eventually get out. Without some sort of external support network, a lot of them end up reoffending out of desperation. That said, the Scandinavian model tends to fall apart on the more extreme end of the spectrum. While they're pretty good about setting up ex-cons for success upon release, it's hard to argue that the punishment fits the crime when someone serves only a decade for murder and a string of arsons, especially if they clearly hold extremist views.
@@gatling216Capital punishment has a 100% rate of prisoners not reoffending.

I've torn up the pic of me w/ ian watkins tht was back in 2006 & tossed it in the 🗑 because of this
One of the things about Tim of as I lay dying that they didn't mention here is as I lay dying is a Christian band. Which made it more shocking that he'd do something like that.
How so? Christians aren't exempt from heinous crimes. They aren't even less likely to commit them. Religion just seems to be an accessory for many of them.
I love that he tried to blame his decision on steroids!!😂😂
They never really were tbh, Tim detailed it himself post arrest. Saying they kept the act going because they said they weren't really saying anything that was inherently wrong in their music. They just weren't the true believers people thought them to be. And justified it being ok because a number of the other christian acts they toured with acted the same way as they did. But they eventually stopped doing so all together.
@@anarchy030oh gosh I forgot about all of that
I think something to be mentioned about Mayhem is that no one liked Euronymous. When their member Dead committed suicide, Euronymous went to a store bought a disposable camera and took a photo of it before calling Necrobutcher and said 'Dead has done something really cool! He killed himself'. He literally gave away pieces of Dead's skull afterwards and was the one to encourage Dead to kill himself. Even Necrobutcher had plans to kill Euronymous, he was just beaten to it.
"This is no laughing matter"
As I sit here laughing about the guy who talked to an undercover cop. "I love ot when these evil people get got" 😂
I’m glad none of the bands I like are on this list
I used to feel bad for the other Lost Prophet members. Now I'm not so sure. They were around this scum every single day. They had no clue that he was a monster? No suspicions? 🤔🤔🤔
You got my like by even including the mayhem. when that happened shit hurt everyone in the scene at the time as hard as dead death. i still listen to them and have seen them live quite a bit
To say Ian Watkins is a deplorable monster is an understatement. I’ve always felt bad for his former bandmates, whose 15 years of hard work were tainted by the actions of 1 bad egg. If anyone wants to check out his former bandmates’ projects, Lee Gaze and Stuart Richardson are in No Devotion with Geoff Rickly of Thursday, and Luke Johnson is in Lowlives. All the non-criminal members of LP were originally in No Devotion, but Luke broke off for a couple years before forming his new group, and the others have seemingly left the music industry
Check out and support No Devotion and Lowlives!
You left out the part where Mayhem/Varg went on to use a photograph of their bandmate Pelle's unalived body on the cover of one of their bootleg albums.
That's just vile and disrespectful
Another thing about Tim Labesis was that he got his Masters degree in social work, became a certified addictions treatment counselor in prison (and after release), and actually came out a better person and made amends with each band member. He didn't just rejoin. He asked their permission, and they unanimously agreed to let him back in. That's how a person changes for the better
Mac Saturn may be too recent or unknown, but its an absolute tragedy for a band that was about to break through. Needed to be on the list
After the news broke about Ian Watkins it gave a whole new perspective to the video for Town Called Hypocrisy
I almost thought you were gonna miss Ian Watkins. Lol good lord what a wacko he turned out to be
I’ve never heard of these bands (except for the mamas and the papas)
The title should’ve been called 9 metal bands ruined by one disgraced member
Not the only one,
In what universe are The Lost Prophets metal?
Watkins did some horrible things but what will always piss me off is the fact that 6 peoples contact the south wales police for 3 years (including someone form the US and Australia) and they did nothing. They finally arrest him three time for drugs and got bail out all those time until the police look at his computer for another things related to drugs and find everything. Took them almost 5 years until they arrest him for the atrocity of what he did.
Ive jist read the whole court proceeding about Watkins.. oh my fucking goodness, extremely disturbing, should be locked up for ever
Vince Neil is a big omission from this list especially after he killed someone because of drink driving.
The thing with Ghaal assaulting people is really a two sided coin.
In both cases court determent that Ghaal acted (more or less) in self defense.
Seeing he lived his whole life in a small Norwegian comunity. He was the odd ball for most of that time.
Yes this man has some issues and some demons to battle. But imagine on top of that, you constanly get bullied.
In both cases ppl threatent Ghaal with violance first. He even did get beat up in the past.
In those two cases that went to court, he told himself no-more, and made sure they would not even think about starting with/against him again.
It was self defense, he just outragesously overdone it in both cases.
And the law punished him for it accordingly.
I was in a band that had something like this happen. A band member was up to some really bad shit behind the scenes and all of that good will we built up went down the drain because of him.
Got tickets for As I Lay Dying for there concert in Copenhagen. Never been more excited for a concert.
#1 could only be Ian Watkins. I will never, ever listen to Lost Prophets again.
I think everyone knew, who will be on #1.
Ian Watkins is a monster. Plain and simple
I always wondered what happened to Lostprophets. Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja immediately caught my attention and bought the album that had Rooftops on it. I was young back then so it makes sense why i never heard about his demise. High digress, the guitarist throwing his guitar around him in the Shinobi video is LEGENDARY still to this day!
As a Canadian who used to love Hedley, I hate that they turned out to be such scumbags, especially Jacob. Their music was such a big part of my life for such a long time. Now I feel guilty for listening to it, but sometimes I just need to get it out of my system.
I understand. I too still listen to Hedley. Their music is great. To me it's no different than an actor, you can dislike them and still enjoy a show or movie. It's controversial but I still listen to Michael Jackson as well.
Heres a fun fact:
Nobody gives AF if you're "First" or "Last"
So true. Waste of time.
THIS! So sick of people commenting "First" on YT videos. Absolutely nobody gives a fuck, including the person who uploaded the video.
.......
I agree
@@markalexander3659 exactly. They don't even get anything for it. You know what's sad , there is some one named black hat who gives pointless medals to those comments. He is also some one who bullies people and make false claims about others being someone else when they weren't. He doesn't have anything to prove it. Also I have seen him Bully people by making false claims about them being mentally handicapped or low IQ. That is uncalled for if you ask me .
that’s true
except for the people who are first and last
their the only ones who care
personally it’s childish and petty to try to get attention in that way
Video suggested right after I listened to As I lay dying new song🤣🤘
Its a shame that black metal bands (often extremists and posers) give Satanism a bad wrap. I despise extremists and there should be no room for any of that in this world and especially in music.
