  • In this video, I changed out the sway bar end links on my 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer. The car has been driving fine and hasn't has much of a need to be repaired. Needless to say the car had been making a front end clunking noise and was from the incorrect bushings being installed. A while a ago, I had discovered that one of my end links had been missing while out of town and my friend had some extras that went to his Honda. This was good for a temporary fix, but I decided to fully mend the problem. I had ordered some new links from Moog and proceeded to install them on to the vehicle. It was not at all difficult to do with some more "proper tools". As normal don't forget to comment, like and subscribe as well as check out my channel content and playlists for more as I have many different videos from cameras to cars. Hopefully the summer in Michigan opens up enough to have fun while staying safe!
    Helpful Tips!
-Installing the new sway bar bushings, to compress the bushings use a trans jack, bottle jack or something to apply direct pressure to the bottom on the bolt. Using a pry bar from above, I stuck the end of the pry bar into the control arm slot on the subframe to press down on the sway bar allowing me to thread the nut on lust a little before fully tightening it down.
-Removing the end link can be somewhat challenging, if the bolt does not spin or present its self as coming off than don't be afraid to just cut the link straight down the center as kits include most if not all the hardware needed for the repair.

Moog makes great suspension parts I replaced all my sway bar end links on my 4Runner with Moog & they have grease fittings.
Don't forget to chalk the rear tires.

Thank you for making this, helped a lot with replacing my links on my '02. I used from a brand called suspensia, it didn't come with the washers though so I ended up reusing the ones that came with the OEM sway bar links. Come to think of it, I may have installed them slightly incorrectly unless your links came with an extra washer to go right under the nut at the top lol.

22mm is the correct measurement for the original part. But as you mentioned, the part you installed is way different. Those bushing are thicker, while the bolt is about the same size.
I fear you might have heavily over tightened those...
How is it behaving on the road?

If it is made from aftermarket or oem, I tend to always torque to manufacture spec unless otherwise specified. Currently I have not had any problems with the parts or the bushings wearing. It has felt much better as it now has the correct part vs the Honda bushings I threw on there and removed.

Jacking up the control arm doesn't help. C clamp the bar to the control arm if you're having issues getting the top nut on.

Do you still have this car? I keep my Mitsubishi Lancer 2006 until I can. The cheapest repairs are underchassis ones.

For the time being, it is being destroyed by the rust. I plan to keep it in service until it has catastrophic rust caused damage. I do have a vehicle that is in the process of being the next to take on the hefty task of being my vehicle.
