  • Whats up guys! In this video we install a M50 intake manifold on my 2001 330i E46 beater car! We got this swap kit from Pohlman Autosports and our tune from Chaos Calibrations. Do you guys think the swap is worth it on your E46? I will try to link all of the needed parts below. If you have any questions please leave a comment below and I will try to answer and help! - Jack

    Your camera man needs to show what your talking about instead of your face when your showing details. The PS bracket, the gasket matching, the porting.. he goes closer when you go to show detail but then leaves your hands and the parts off screen.

    Can you go over the vacuum lines you installed separately? I wa shopping to see the connections you had in order to better understand why my install left my car running poorly.. A lot of videos are more close up with everything done but your set up is closest to mine! Please and thank you! I’ve watched this video maybe 30 times already trying to see how your vacuum lines are routed! Please!! And Thank you!!! (((:

    Hey great video bro wish I’ve seen it when I did my swap.
    What have you done with the purge valve that vaporized gas ,does you just keeping it open and letting it vent to the atmosphere, and the tune deleted the check engine light for it ? Or have you connected it back to the manifold? Thank you

    • @jack_davis_
      @jack_davis_  Před 5 měsíci

      Sorry for the late reply!
      Our tuner was able to tune it out of the ECU functions and the delete the CEL as well. For me I wanted everything as simple as possible but if you wanted to keep the factory operation, you would need to tee in the purge valve to one of the intake vacuum ports.

It’s like the engine flooded at 1500/1700rpms and run very rough. Do you think that the problem could be the DISA valve not removed from ECU? Thank you 🙏🏼

    • @86_E30_Blondie
      @86_E30_Blondie Před 2 měsíci

      Better to make the ports match to the manifold for the best results. It can be done without porting but if you have it open than it can easily be done in under an hour.

    • @jack_davis_
      @jack_davis_  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes I just cut the factory E46 booster hose and made it fit on the M50 manifold. I deleted the purge valve and tuned it out in the ECU via Chaos Calibrations. If you wanted to keep it all you would need to do is route it to one of the vacuum ports on the intake

    Bro i cant find m50b25 manifold i only find m50b20 manifold is it going to be ok to install on my m52tub28?

    • @nord4610
      @nord4610 Před 7 měsíci +1

      the m50b25 has bigger ports so its not gonna be the same with an m50b20. But yes, you can put a m50 intake on m52tun28 casue ive done that. But the kits the sell for m54 dosent macht, throttle plate is diffrent so you have to craft your own one, and also u need injector specers for the fuelrail.

      @nord4610 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@jack_davis_ its a bit different but not so much harder. The only thing is that there is almost no tutorial or information how to do it on the m52tu so you have to figure out some stuff by yourself :)

    • @nord4610
      @nord4610 Před 7 měsíci

      @@petarbaleta5514 yea there is gonna be a problem with the throttlebody because they are diffrent boltpatterns, and the adapterplate they sell for m54 engines are not gonna work correctly for m52tu. And on the m52tu you have the fuel pressure regulator sits on the fuelrail which its not allowing you to get the fuelrail on correctly on the m50 intake. So you need to buy injetor specers to make it fit

    • @TomoReso
      @TomoReso Před 7 měsíci +1

      no. It is easily one of the most overrated manifold ever. Ive literally dynoed more horsepower with m54b25 manifold on m52tub28 engine then with m50b25 intake manifold. Tune was adjusted too. Its funny that a lot of those videos tell about gains, and yet no1 does maf logs or dynos to support the claim. Apart from great intake noise, for stock engines, dont do it. M54b25 manifold is great. No choke point for your engine even at 7000rpm.
      Only if you opt for better cams, and 7000+rpm go m50 manifold.

    • @jack_davis_
      @jack_davis_  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@TomoReso I totally understand what you’re saying however for our needs or a racer / mechanic / or just enthusiast I think the M50 and a tune simplifies the engine bay a ton and makes the car easier to work on when at the track. No more vacuum lines to break or fall off, no disa valve to break or start leaking, etc.
