  • I've been meaning to do this hike in Normandy for the longest time. I've always been a fan of world war 2 and the Normandy D-Day landing beaches of Operation Overlord have always been fascinating to me. I met up with my friend Chase (also big into history) in Paris and together we took the train to Cherbourg to being our hike. Our plan was to visit all 5 D Day landing beaches along with a bunch of other World War 2 sites.

    WOW, this channel is a box of surprises. After the fantastic videos about the Portuguese empire, a fantastic expedition through Normandy. As a veteran paratrooper, it is a place that tells me a lot where an extraordinary generation sacrificed itself to free Europe from Nazism. I will be eagerly awaiting the next episodes.

    I am so jealous of this experience. We did a WWII trip to France and Belgium last year and started in Normandy, went up the northern coast to Dunkirk and then over to Bastogne. We only had a week but it was awesome. We spent 2 days in the Normandy region with a guide and I got to learn about my grandfather's experiences there. He was wounded just outside of Carentan. We went off the beaten path and explored the hedge rows. Definitely going back and look forward to seeing your experience to get a better idea of what to explore next.

      @FlashPointHx  Před 24 dny

      That sounds like an awesome trip too! Always wanted to see Dunkirk. We walked through Carentan - it was a crucial city. Your grandfather helped to liberate a town that made D-day a success. Amazing!

      @@FlashPointHx I'm glad we stopped and did a guided tour of Dunkirk but we found that an afternoon was all the time we needed. It was April, so that may have been part of it, but there wasn't a lot to see and do. If you're traveling to Dunkirk, be sure to stop at the Museum of the Atlantic Wall to check out the massive guns that were used to shoot shells at England.

    1 - I had no idea you'd done so much epic stuff, but I'm wholly unsurprised 😅
    2 - having been to Paris a couple times, I have yet to encounter a single rude person. TBF I think it mostly comes down to Americans not knowing how to act overseas. I got a great idea 💡 Start in Lisbon and document the point at which the Portuguese set sail. Then you can make your way to Ceuta and all the other ports they discovered/founded along the African coast… finally finish in Calicut and Cochin … I think that would be the most epic IRL vlog experience & it’s coincides with your videos. This has never been done before you can even link it to your Portugal age of discovery videos.
