Hundreds of videos watched on mycology, and this is the first I have seen that explains the "why" of all of this. The facts presented here have literally made months of learning all click together in one video.
Seriously, THANK YOU. Liked and subbed.
Yes! I definitely feel the same. This video is great; it's very informative.
thats why you just read forums and pirate books all videos are made to maximize their popularity and only cover surface level ideas
Coming from a bio/biochem background, this is one of the most comprehensive explanations I’ve seen! Great work on the whiteboard
Finally someone who explains all of this. Thank you!
Hey I just wanted to tell you something, I've been trying to master this art for the last 2 years and it's been hit and miss I've had a lot of success but lately things have stalled so I went out looking for more information and I want to let you know that you have taught me something that is basic 101 mushroom growing but the way you delivered it worked I understand what you're saying and I'm going to change some things up and I just wanted to say thank you so much you're a good teacher don't stop I would like to hear more of what you have to say again thank you and best of luck
Seems like the cool elementary school teacher you once had that you can't prove smokes weed and that you bet has a mushroom lab in his closet and that your almost certain plays air guitar in his boxers on the weekend. Great video good simple explanation
Reminds me of if Louis CK were a mycologist. You are a great teacher, thank you!
Really wished I'd have found you about 2 years ago You are an excellent teacher and/or lecturer Keep up the good work
I used the bubble wrap tek on a stalled tub everything looked great just no pins. Literally 36 hours after applying the bubble wrap I had 100's of 📌's.
Amazing. I wonder if any sterile cover layer would help to build high enough CO2 concentrantion? Will it has to had a Gas Exchange hole if I use like a plastic bag on a small tub?
@@Rodriastral666i was wander exactly the same, what if cut a peace of transparent plastic with a couple holes ?
@@carlosjurado2012This was 2 months ago and I have success with the pinset and actually my very first flushes and harvesting. This CO2 buildup worked. I did covered my cake with a sanitized (with alcohol) bag, this will work now as a fruiting chamber, kinda like a "bottle tek" i did some holes on it and covered them with micropore tape, I kinda tried to put the bag's highest point the closer to the surface of the cake, fixed it with a elastic band. Also This did not instantly made the cake to pin, I did my research about cold shocking for pins and on every forum I found that it does nothing for P. Cubensis but I decided to give it a try. I cold shocked by the night (about 9 hours) and then put it at ambient temperature (my room) so it did not had incubation temperature any more. After a few days I started giving fresh air exchange and raised that low level bag and stretched the height of the bag significantly up the cake covered, removed the tape so it doesn't build so much CO2 also I readed that this way now it has more FAE circulation, the holes were very small. It did started pinning and fruited very well, my little cocacola-bottle cakes fruited for almost a month, 1:1 ratio with just brown rice spawn and simple coir-only, microwave pasteurized bulk substrate. My conclusion is that CO2 buildup setup does not have to be that extreme, it might be a factor that triggers pinning but in conjunction with a small cold shock, fae, fruiting temperature (lower, about 24°C) and CO2 buildup it has a higher chance to start pinning quicker.
Almost forgot, yeah, that plastic transparent bag will work, just use whatever you have, any transparent bag will be fine
you have some killer knowledge only 273 subs?? keep going
And about 1000 fruiting blocks
@@PracticalMyco 😂😂😂 that joke was so on point
Look at you now👍👊
Look at him now he made it to 6k in one year
This aged well. He's going to hit 8k soon. Nice:)
I’m showing up 2 years after the fact but out of 2 months of researching this stuff these videos have, by far, taught me more than any other source of information. Thank you so much. I enjoy your quirky teaching style too.
I never sun to channels these days but I can’t NOT sub to you now.
Bravo!
That was dead set the best tutorial I've watched on how and why mushrooms form and grow. Thank you brother
🤯 thank you! 🤯
I was very curious about Co2 content and the correlation between pinning and fruiting!
I really appreciate the information 😊
... I'm really surprised at how simple you made this to understand!
It’s crazy how many little bits and pieces of new information you find when you’re looking
This is the first video with a "trick" I have seen or heard of. You have me all pumped up to go now dude. This was where my question was on pin set production. These little tricks is what makes growing cannabis so fun. You make it your own with all the best hints and tricks that work for you in your application and environment.
Late to the party , but I really appreciate the break down of everything and how it works . Keep this work up please
_This_ is the video I was looking for. I wish I could like this twice
This is the best explanation of mycelium and fruiting I've ever seen - coming from a MS in Bio grad. Also, love the enthusiasm.
THIS is the information I've been looking for!!!!! As soon as I decided a couple weeks ago that I wanted to grow mushrooms, I wanted to learn everything I could about their anatomy, how they grow, etc. but I could only find information about Teks and foraging for mushrooms.
Your channel is the absolute best, and you teach very effectively. Thank you so much!!! I feel much more confident with my upcoming first grow, with every video of yours that I watch!!!
I love that he draws the example. It helps my brain understand it
I watched your videos for 3 months and soaked them in. Now I'm rewatching them as I experience my own way through them.
Oodles of fun. ^___^ thanks
Beginner grower here - thank you! I think you've just explained why I had little luck making my mycelium fruit even when I was giving it what I thought were ideal conditions. Gonna try leaving them closed off in the dark for some time!
Wow, thank you for this!! Excellent video. This is a top 1 or 2 out of about 150 or so that ive watched thus far 👍🏽
What about the other top 1 or 2 video? I'm really curios about
Great to have this kind of knowledge rich content thank you so much
Best mushroom video
Thanks soo much. Great explanation. perfect timing
this vid should be spread out to ALL growers... easy to understand for ANY dumb growers (like I am ;) )
Thanks for that great explanation!
This video was so helpful. You answered questions I've had since I began growing last year. Thank you!
That is very informative. You are pretty entertaining to listen to.
love my boy Jessie!! always on the jedi stuff
Watching this vidoo was better that reading half of Shroomy. Thanks man. You are a great teacher.
hell yeah! this is exactly the info i was looking for! thank you!
Brilliant video
i would live to see a real word example shown of when you decide a tub is ready to move into fruiting, and what it looks like the day before, and the day before that even... basically show what it looks like just before and as it pins then when you decide to fruit.
Amazing stuff bro
Man you’d make a really good high school or college professor. Excellent work my friend!
Thank you so much! I like your style..
This is one of the best explanations on this topic. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼
I be watching this over and over
Yes yes yes brother, preach that knowledge my brother. This is what I have been looking for. The real science behind it in a way ANYONE can understand. Im going to bing on yah videos dude. Thank you kind sir
definitely open minded to the bubble wrap tip, but would some time foil or parchment paper work just as good? I have it laying around unlike bubble wrap. and why or why not? please and thank you.
You had me at dead shit and dog poop.
Such a good video
Surprisingly just coming across this video. It is wonderful and very informative.
omg i loveee your content, its so informative! thanks
channel should be at a million subs ,
Dude this shit makes so much sense. Goddamn how did I not see this channel before
Holy shit you just described the symptoms I am dealing with thank you for such amazing info
Tnx, man! You video helped me, subtitles forever!)))
Dude, thank you. I’m new and this cleared up or confirmed aww. Just thank u
This is a great video. Answering the "why" questions made it great, but the suggestion for the use of bubble wrap made is superlative. I could not make my fruiting chamber pin, but the bubble wrap did the trick. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like your teaching style bro. You are a natural. Thanks for the video. I'm subbed.
I know a good deal in the sector. Always wanting to hear more and more though, you sir, know exactly what you are talking about. I have no issue adding any info and techniques you present into my own library with confidence. Kudos :)
You’re Amazing man sorry the company didn’t work out
You are like a mad scientist. Thank you for helping people understand what the f is going on and in an entertaining way! You should be a teacher as well!
Great job teaching, brother!!
Great Content bro. question.. What if the environment was accidently over heated to 110 degrees for 3 hours? Since then a thermostat power block is being used. Im just worried tubs were in danger.
Fascinating, clearly explained, thanks man
Fantastic information in a clear concise presentation. Many thanks!
What an excellent video, I’m sharing to Facebook group
another subscribe based on your humor alone man.... as an established hobby mycologist your vids are a recap for me so I'd usually be bored a bit but NOPE! highly entertaining! keep up the good work :)
I like you. Your style. N you saying the things you say. Nice
best explained video I've seen, thank you dude! your teaching style is rad :D
Loud and clear thanks boss.
Absolutely did help thank you very much 👍🏻
Great comprehensive video.
thankyou professor
Awesome vid bro! I have seen many that show fruiting stage etc with idiots not even using a liner and wondering why they have pins on sides and bottom and a waste of inadequate growth. 🤦🏼♂️.
I watched your vid to see your fruiting conditions explanation and I am impressed. Take this from someone that knew Dr. Leary. 👍
killer vid man thanks!
This was very cool to learn thankyou
I appreciate you so much for this. Mush love ❤️
Thank you, i have a ton a side pins and bottom pins even on the one tub i didnt use a lid on and another tub with liner that has only one mushrooms pinning like wtf just one no other pins at all im just mind blown hasn't happened to me b4. Bags are going great, and the tub with the grain all in one spot in the center with no liner, that experiment doing well
Master Class in session... 🎓...
I'm confused, i grow mostly gourmet mushrooms so not really the same thing but mushrooms don't really want a high CO2 environment to pin, if i don't cut the bag of oyster mushrooms when in the fruiting room they won't pin nearly as fast, they will still eventually pin in the bag because they are running out of food and have no other option. What i'm trying to say is they don't want high CO2 to pin but the thing is they also need moisture and if you have great FAE in a monotube you are generally drying out the sub(unless you have a humidifier but that causes problems, contam, etc).
So in a monotub you don't really want high CO2, you want high humidity and you can't do that without high CO2 because of how mono tubs work but as long as there is enough moisture given the choice the mushrooms will try to pin in and area of as low CO2 as possible and then grow longer if the FAE isn't to it's liking.
That's because they just need a bit of CO2, around for best pinning 500-1000ppm. Inside the bag is 10.000-20.000ppm for colonization. Normal air quality is around 400ppm for CO2, so they can manage to pin. But they could pin more, faster and better with just a bit higher CO2
That helped trigger an "Aha" moment. Thanks for the share
BRAVO ! bravo!!! BRAVOOOO!!!!!!
love your content man explaining the makes it easier to learn
So informative! Thanks. I love how you do things "real fast" as apposed to just... "fast." lol ;)
What a great video. Now everything makes complete sense. Using the knowledge you explained, im thinking to stick a layer of bubble wrap 3/4 of the way up the tub with a few small bubble holes in. That way the mushrooms will produce decent stems and reach the size im looking for then will remove the bubble wrap once reached. The reason for that is the stems are what weigh the most and for "active" mushrooms they contain the most "sybin". What do you think?. Thank you so much for explaining and making this fab vid. Mush love
Hey I'm nearing the end of my 1st grow ever and I'm using the bubble wrap method...big bubbles actually😂😂 ...I've removed it twice and cleaned it and replaced it...but ya will keep updated on that....second monotub is an inflatable waiting on that to colonize then case and put in fruiting❤❤ thanks for all you do for the mycology community 🍄👁🙏👽😌☯️🌌❤️🌲
Thank you for the a clear explanation.
You get an A+ for use of that whiteboard. Feel like I'm watching a professor rn.
Bless u! Like i have been looking for good information
Dude.. you rock.. great info. Thank you. Why do I feel sea sick watching the video??
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE help. Thanks!
thank you Sweetpea, youre the man who tells!!!
Golden informations.
nice video
Fantastic video, my question is how long after you birth a pint jar before you see pinning. I can't get anyone to answer this.
Great video my man, thanks for the indepth explination!
Great information, down to earth, very understandable! Thanks for the great content! That's a subscription outta me! All the best!
This gentleman reminds me of a character from the movie Bottle Rocket 🚀
This was really good and easy to understand specially when you already have some knowledge and experience this just makes it better in increasing knowledge , great video however i sort of wish you would have mentioned the lighting and how it helps point the direction in which the cuties grow. ✌️
Question do you add bubble wrap after you mix the spawn to sub or is there set time in the sub getting colonized to add the bubble wrap?
I usually add a very thin 1/4 to 1/2 inch layer of casing after it is fully colonized
Should I add the bubble wrap after I do that or before?
Thank you for this video I didn't know about the stem growing to escape the c02 that was game changing knowledge I appreciate it.
this video helped me out a lot THANKS!
wrapping the outside of the tub for the consolidation phase is adequate, no need to put anything on top of your sub. Great vid btw man!
With no gas exchange so CO2 builds up?
happy saturday jesse, and happy new year piiiimp!!!
Well done sir
Thank you...very nice video!
bro u remind of of a mycologist version of the joker lol great stuff
