    Looks like Drifta discontinued selling the Oztents. So you'll need to get the Drifta Stockton Eyelet Kit to use the Supa Peg poles.

      Thanks heaps Wade. Comments like this are massively encouraging and uplifting. Sometimes putting together videos can feel like work, but this is the best payment for that trouble. Glad to have you on board.🙏😬

    Your Oztent reviews have been great in helping us choose a new family tent. Appreciate the honesty in not trying to oversell all the add-ons.

    Get an old Aluminium extension ladder (There are plenty around that have bent feet and are thrown away) cut it down to size and bolt to roof rack/bars. simple free RV tent platform

    Great review Dan, thanks. I have been a drifta fan myself for many years now and just moved over to the Oztent family, so looking forward to expanding my camping arsenal now lol. Thanks mate.

    Hey Dan , recently discovered your channel. Myself and my boss lady are recently un complicating our lives from expensive van to camping again. Looking to purchase the RV5 plus and have enjoyed your videos! You deliver videos well.. I hope someone in the industry employs your to do advertising for them 😁🤞🏾👌🏿

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hi John, Sorry for the delay I needed to take a break. Glad you are going the simple route again, most folks tend to the go the other way over time (tent--> trailer --> van). My wife would appreciate the stargazing possibilities from the RV5 Plus, and if you had the fly over the top I think you would see an improvement in condensation (although that's not an issue for us with the RV5 anyway). Happy Oztenting I say! Appreciate your kind encouragement mate🙏. I'm in for the long haul - the next video better than the last, and I'll see where it goes 😬

    Great review, much of which i agree with, except: i have not upgraded my poles, as i can prevent the guy ropes from coming off the factory pole spigot by the way i attach my guy ropes. My guy ropes come up from the ground and around the pole 30cm from top, using a half hitch, then the loop on the end of the guy rope goes over the factory Oztent spigot. I have found this to be extremely secure, not permitting the loop to come off the spigot, while also reducing the spread distance of the guy ropes, reducing trip hazard risks around camp.

      Hi Michael. Thanks for watching mate. Glad it mostly resondated. Neat idea with optimising the ropes to keep the poles secure. Cheers

    When using the snow peak hammer to remove pegs I was shown you put the hammer hook through the eye of the peg and you twist the hammer back and forth with some upward pressure this will bring the peg out without pulling the peg out directly out of the ground using your back .

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Thanks Gary, great idea. In the footage shown in the video, I had the camera rolling and captured pulling the peg out naturally - not staged! I misjudged where the hexatarp peg needed to go, so had to pull it out again - but they ground was very hard. There was about 2 mins of wiggling and manipulating before it shows me heaving it out. Great point though, work smarter, and not with your back where possible! Cheers for watching Sir😬

    I have the Drifta bag for my RV4 and it is great as well as the pole bag. I also have the Drifta poles and the roof rack carrier but I use that on my trailer. Have you tried the screw in pegs in hard ground. Pick them up in lots of places and they work well. BTW replacing the eyelets was an easy task.

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Good to know the eyelets are easy. You are the first person I know personally that has done it themself. At times (like when I try to fit everything in the garage...) I feel I've gotten carried away with canvas bags for everything, but for the tent and accessories its truly been excellent. Glad it's served you well too!

    Hey mate always enjoy the videos, took my RV3 out for its second trip, this time it was raining added the fly but failed to fold the cover over the Velcro enough and the water ran below the fly and along the roof eventually ended up leaking through stitching around the rear flap. Thoughts or experience on seasoning the tent or if you have any tips from your travels about keeping the inside dry, cheers mate keep it up

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Hi Mate, Did the water come in at the back window or around the seams? Wait for a warm day when you are hanging out at home (just tent no fly), set up the 30s part (probs just leave awning rolled up), peg down base if windy, ensure all windows and zips are all closed well. Hose tent, saturating all canvas area, but especially the stitching and around the seams and zips. Let dry a few hours, hose again, etc. Do as many times as practical over a day or two. Fully dry it, pack away ready for next trip. That is what I would do. I am surprised that you got water coming in like that. If a new tent was leaking significantly I would touch base with Oztentor where you bought it. Hey I've used it twice and it's leaking, should I season it or do you think there is something wrong with it? We have either an aluminium step, or a milk crate, to stand on to make sure the zip and velcro is nice and secure for attaching the fly. Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes ?👍

    Maybe it was just the angle of the camera, but your snorkel looks to sit well above your ròf line. Looks like you've got a periscope for deep water crossings!

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I've done some deep crossings, but haven't had to activate submarine mode just yet!😬 It's above the roof, below the top of the roof rack. Not sure why it was designed a bit high like that. Hope you are having a good start to 2024 Allan!🍻

    Great video mate. Love the tent and bags.
    Especially love the pegs and hammer. I’ve had issues with the stupidly undersized pegs I got with my swags and tents. I think I’ll head to the workshop and knock up 30 or so pegs like yours.😁
    And the hammer. What a great idea. I find myself tugging on a peg with another peg to pull it out of the ground. Haha
    Can the hammer be used like a lever to remove traditional pegs?

    • @OTWD
      @OTWD  Před 6 měsíci +2

      There he is! Was thinking about you the other day.. Wondering what you were up to! How about we go into business and you can make the copyrighted Harris Peg, and I will help sell them on the channel? ........Wish I could make stuff like that😅
      Yeah the hammer is truly awesome. It has a hook, so you can pull out any old tent peg too.
