Shenron really *can* fulfill wishes according to his own interpretation, but he is actually more likely to interpret in your favor, cause he's a bro
Well if he interprets wrong then they have to summon him again to fix it. And he hates being summoned for prolonged periods of time.
Shenron usually gets wishes right, but the one time he got it wrong, at least to my memory, was when the Pilaf gang wished for their youth back.

The reason Turles looks like Goku is because he's a representation of what Goku would have become if he never hit his head. The in-lore reason is... he just does.

I just love the reasoning TFS had to make this movie. I forgot if it was Lani or Kaiser, but the whole schtick is that one of them was thinking on how to make an Abridged on Tree of Might and it was close to the holidays. They then thought... Tree of Might... Christmas... Chrismas Tree of Might! After that, they contacted the other creator who asked him what he wanted and the response was "Shut up and listen... What if we make the movie... Christmas Tree of Might..." "...Shit that's good."
Shenron is a enjoyable character in both and has the most hilarious moment in the entire franchise with the cat

I think Turles explained that his class was so low that they looked the same, not that they were brothers. Still all the Abridged movies are based off of DBZ movies or specials, the christmas recurring jokes continues onto many a movie too

Yeah, Shenron has been shown before but I think the issue is that you don’t really get the scale of him except for in this movie and the dead zone, where they went all out drawing Shenron.
PS as far as Turles's hair: it's much less a non-canon nod to potential extended Kakarrot lineage, and much more just a weirdly vague implication that Saiyan hair follicles have a limited number of pre-set formations.
Of which I'd say, the latter is arguably MORE left-field of Toriyama lol

3:00 there are some examples of "monkey paw" wishes like that in the series though. Pilauf and his gang wish to be young again, and get turned into kids, fairly certain they also make the distinction between immortality and invulnerability with a villain once who wishes for the wrong one too.
What about the Shadow Dragons in GT? The reason they existed is because of the constant wishes on Earth's Dragon Balls.

Did you guys skip the dead zone movie? pretty sure that takes place before this one, I also think worlds strongest does but they abridged that one later.
Also the reason that they explained away the look similarity back in the day, I'm pretty sure them saying something about most low class sayins have a gene or something that gives them a similar look. Hence, goku, turles, bardock. May have been retconned away by now.

Team Four Star made Tree of Might first even though it's movie 3. World's Strongest is Movie 2 but TFS did it 7th. So they're watching things in the order that Team Fourstar released them.

Well, as Vegeta said "This is so non-canon, it hurts". But it's absurdly funny how TFS just turned this stand-alone story about space pirates and a life-draining tree into a Christmas movie.

Shenron was always a bit ominous with his booming voice. But TFS obviously enhanced it. You guys saw Shenron being summoned by Roshi & Bulma in episode 6 (in words of TFS by the characters who actually did something in previous series, but not in this one) to wish Goku back because Nappa and Vegeta were approaching Earth.
The explanation for Turles looking like Goku is that they were both are low-class saiyans, and the the low-class don't have many distinct physical looks.
LOL people normally miss the "Melon Farmer" joke @16:20 Its a reference to Die Hard being set during Christmas and the tv edit version said Yippie Ki Yay Melon Farmer instead of Yippie Ki Yay Motherfucker. Plus Goku doesn't swear.

I believe some dubs did change turles to be Goku's eldest brother because they didn't like the explanation of the lore but essentially Goku's genes are SO average he basically has a jhon face, like Saiyans would have said he looks like he left the character creator in default (which is why vegeta is so pissed that he's behind the low class, hyper average "jhon smith" looking ass that is goku) but they don't explore that at all, they just wanted to have evil goku, so they basically merged the core concepts vegeta and raditz so they could recrete some beats from the saiyan arc

The reason Turles looks like Goku is because they are 'low class warriors' level, brother Radditz is middle class why he got to be with vageta's squad when planet vageta blew up, if there was another elite Warrior class like vageta they'd look similar, its like if Saiyan's had templates to pick from then customize the look slightly

DBZ movie 9, Bojack, is the only one (of the original 13 1990s movies) that could be in continuity, but Team Four Star never got to it despite setting up Bojack as a character (he's the pirate at the core of King Kai's planet). They said that trying to write it broke them because they just couldnt come up with funny material and were burned out from the main series and decided to end it where they'd ended things with Cell.
The one with Tapion could also fit in the continuity I think.

Oh yeah, Turles being Goku's brother is a misconception due to a few dubs that made that error. In reality he just looks like Goku since there wasn't a lot of diversity among low-class Saiyans (in the movie-verse)

Yeah I don't think the original Ever explained why Turles looks like Goku, but he definitely wasn't his brother. Hopefully you guys watch the Bardock Father of Goku special next
So, a couple of quick points.
1. As many others have stated, the only reason given for why Goku and Turles (pronounced Tur, like turtle,-Less) look the same is that low Class Saiyans are facially consturcted to have the same face..... despite the Bardock special showing that is not true in the slightest.
2. Turles in Japan is known as Tullece. This continues the Saiyan naming convention of being named after vegetables, Tullece=Lettuce, but it was changed to Turles because of the classic L and R overlap in the Japanese language.
3. This is actually DBZ's third movie. But the first two movies were abridged for TFS's one million and two million subscribers specials. As such the first two movies are much higher quality than this one.
I always thought Turles was Goku's uncle for some reason.

Turles isn't directly related to Goku, but they are the same race, and there's so few you can count them on your hand, so I guess calling them cousins makes sense.

Dude, Turles HD to have been Goku's twin brother. They're the same age, and given the unusual genetic attribute of Goku's family of the second son of the father always look JUST LIKE the father, but the first son doesn't comes true here, as well. Think about it. It started with Bardock, Goku's father. His first born son Raditz, looks nothing like him. But then Goku was born and he looks like Bardock (as well as Turles). Then Goku grows up and has a son, Gohan, who looks nothing like him. When the second son, Goten, comes along, he looks EXACTLY LIKE GOKU!
So that particular genetic marker must be true all the way down the line.
That explains Turles' appearance way better than a clone, or "just another Saiyan that just HAPPENS to look EXACTLY like Goku, except for his grey coloring."

The reason why Turles looks exactly like Goku is that low-class saiyans only have a limited variations of how they look. Meaning that before Freeza wiped out their planet, there was a bunch of saiyans that just looked exactly alike. Turles in no way related to Goku, Bardock or anyone else.

The plots of the movies before Broly are all just rip-offs of the regular show arcs since Toriyama was too busy to right new stories or do anything beyond provide character designs, so animators had to fly solo and played it safe. Before Broly and Cooler's Return these were just being made to promote the show at trade events since there was no internet at the time to market.
This is just basically the second part of the Saiyan Arc when Nappa and Vegeta come, Deadzone is the first part Goku and Piccolo have to team up to fight a powerful foe to save Gohan.
World's Strongest is most like the OG dragon ball Red Ribbon army arc, but it's not 1:1 this one is somewhat unique
Slug is the whole damn Namek Arc, but just on Earth this time same shtick as Frieza though, evil tyrant wants Dragon Balls to be immortal/have eternal youth
Cooler is alt universe Freeza arc where Freeza instead died to the Spirit Bomb and Goku didn't go SS, he even has his own mini-Ginyu Force
The Android 13 movie should be really obvious, three androids made by a mad scientist to kill Goku, they didn't even try here lol
Fusion Reborn is the alt. universe Buu Saga, where Buu got killed by Gotenks so Goku and Vegeta stay dead, villain even goes from a fat childish demon-monster that likes to eat sweets/souls to a skinny serious demon man that needs Goku and Veggie to set aside their differences and fuse to be beaten
Like bottom-left guy said if you didn't see em you didn't miss too much, I have a soft spot for a few like Broly, Cooler's Return, Fusion Reborn (obv the best), Wrath of the Dragon and Cooler's Revenge. The rest are pretty bad until they start making feature lengths when Beerus comes into the picture. The last four especially the Broly reboot and Super Hero are REALLY good and must-watches.

if you are going to react to abridged movies in order then you should also see the movies "dead zone" and "the world's strongest" , as both are before the frezzer saga
We aren't yet in Freeza saga, that 's after Ginyu saga. Both part of the Namek saga, so seeing Vegeta sitting on Dragonballs in Tree of Might would be correct 2-3 episodes ago.
@@embran8486 I was referring to the fact that the two movies I mentioned are before the frezzer/ginyu saga (that is, during the sayajin saga). I take the frezzer saga as everything that happens in namekusei as the ginyu forces are just more frezzer soldiers.

Shenron is pretty inconsistent on how generously he grants his wishes. Usually he grants the spirit of the wish in addition to the letter of it, but he has been maliciously compliant on a few instances.
