That end quote, is so inspirational, just in general, to everyone.
Glad you enjoyed it 🥰
I have been riding longer than you've graced this earth and I feel comfortable saying that you have been gifted with more than your fair share of grit and fortitude. However, I feel like you are a Connoisseur of Chaos. Saffy Sprocket, Patron Saint of Chaos.
Connoisseur of chaos 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I love it!
Oh those screams of excitement!
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
That camper at 9:30 😮😂 very slick looking conditions, looked hard but you’re such a positive person
Thank you so much 😊
As AC/DC once famously sang, "It's a wrong way to the top if you wanna rock 'n roll"! Brilliant stuff there
Ahahah so true!!!
Total, total respect for doing that, Savvy....you did brilliant, well done 👍
Thanks so much
That was breath taking, wow, respect.
Glad you enjoyed it!
the important thing is to keep the spirit going, I always pray that I will be healthy, always happy, stay focused on positive thinking that is done every day
🥰
Living life to the Fullest ! Thats what you are about. Bless Ya
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
@SaffySprocket been sat watching your vlogs all day. Inspired..True adventurer.
Well done Darlin, its bad enough in the summer and DRY. Respect XXX
Thank you so much 🥰
You chose the right time of year and the right direction. 😊
😂
you're like the stelvio pass Saffy, unbelievably beautiful! ❤️
Thank you so much 🥰
Saffy, Respect, that is a hard ride in summer, in winter, yep, a little bit mad. Well done.
Ahahah for sure, I don't know what I was expecting but I think it's a funny story that's for sure
You are an inspiration, a little darling too! Keep doing you Saffy! ❤️
Thank you so much!!
Fantastic Job Saffy 🤩🤩. That was more epic than any thriller on Netflix 😱😱👌👌👍👍
Thank you so much 🥰💓💓
Yeah, done this both ways, feel your pain. Such hard work but so satisfying. Firstly well done and secondly thanks for sharing. You did it. Respect matey. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! And thank you so much 🥰
Looking good.❤
Thank you so much
Definitely one of my favorite vids, because it is exactly what is going on in situations that are by no means easy to handle: a permanent self talk.
I did Stelvio by motorbike a couple of times, including excavators removing snow slabs. But your conditions were extremely bad and you did an exciting job. Cheers from Germany!
Well said!
Absolutely inspirational !!
Thank you so much 🥰
This was very interesting to view and enjoyable. I hope that you will do another video of this village and it’s people. Bravo
Thank you so much :D
I know the pain and joy of freezing cold wet half blind in the rain, but you squealed with joy on each strait, not many rides works out how you think I will remember this as long as you will, thanks for sharing Saffy😋😘
Well said!
Rocket is serving you well Saffy. I have had the steamed up glasses before, in similar conditions. Heat rising from the engine and insufficient speed to give a decent airflow. I found it safer to remove the glasses and manage without until conditions improved. Fortunately, it does not happen very often. Stay safe.
I ended up putting my glasses on halfways 🤣 so if I titled my head, I could see past them. Contacts would have come in handy!
That was sooooo epic, scary watching it, you did it in that weather… hats off to you. Loved the insight at the end. Much love and respect 🫡
Admirable , cualquiera no hace esa ruta ... Saludos Saffy .
Thank you so much 🥰
Really awesome scenery
Isn't it just!
how cold 🤯 Saffy but your tires are fine 👍 for that weather mine are only good for rain 😀 best regards
It was so so so so cold 🤣
what a road, great stuff
It was pretty crazy!!!
Awesome video Saffy. Definitely 1 of the best Stelvio passes I’ve seen 😂😂👍👍
🤣🤣🤣 nearly rolled down it
@@SaffySprocket you're awesome! 😁😁😁
Bravo!, well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Every minute on that bike, you inspire us all!! keep going!
Thank you so much for your support 😊😊
You done well fantastic ride all be doing for a good cause ride safe be careful we’ll done
Thank you, I will
Great job!!! Große Klasse! Du bist die Beste! Lieben Gruß aus Berlin, Ralf
Thank you so much 💞💞🥰
Well done Saffy you did it! I've ridden this road many times in all sorts of conditions and you would not be able to exit those corners on the wrong side of the road in 'the season' as other traffic would be there including bikes, cars, coaches, trucks and cycles!! The technique is a wide entry, looking up the hill for traffic and keeping a low gear and some momentum so you can use the power to steady the bike, particularly when loaded with camping gear. Now go do lot of the other ones ;)
Yeh, I just didn't see the point in tight corners when theres no traffic, you could see up the hill fairly easily :D
Well done Saffy. I rode the Stelvio in August 2018, it was like the M25, there was so much traffic. To my mind it was like doing 40 odd u turns. You coped with the weather exceptionally well, huge respect from this 70 year old biker. Try “no fog” wipes for your glasses, they work for me but you have to re apply if you are out for a long ride.
Ah man, I could not have imagined doing hill starts on my bike if there was traffic 😂😂😂😂 I'd have never gotten up it. It was painful as it was
@Saffy Sprocket The Splugen Pass from Switzerland into Italy was bad for steep hill starts. It was very narrow and sooo busy. You are a very gutsy young lady, biking needs young bikers like you to keep it going into the future. My son, who is 23, and myself had a month touring Europe in July/August on our bikes and we loved every second. Keep going Saffy, you inspire young bikers.
Love the don't give A.F. attitude. Absolutely love it!
These days I work outside all day all year, have dodgy wrists & fingers that simply 'don't do' cold & a minor bone break will take a very long time to get better. So I am now an butterfly biker.
Keep doing what you're doing for as long as you can do it ❤❤
Love it!!
Ride safe always nice view
Thanks ✌️
Your closing words could not be truer! Well done Saffy. Happy adventuring!
Thank you so much 🥰💕🥰💞
It's like you went around the same corner about a hundred times lol 😆
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nicer when the sunshines
"you're still going faster than the people that don't try" - love that sentiment Saffy - spot on! Thanks for uploading really appreciate it. Maf in Brighton
🥰 glad you enjoyed it
Another great video, always wanted to drive that road in a car well done im extremely jealous.
You should, maybe go the other way around though 😂 I went the backwards way
@@SaffySprocket if only it wasnt so fsr away oh i would do it both ways to make sure 🤣
Fair play to you doing Stelvio Pass in the rain, you did look out of your comfort zone but you did it, which you should be proud of. Looking at it, its probably a lot easier to do it downhill.
I was terrified 😂😂😂😂😂
My admiration for you goes up every time I watch every one of you're crazy mountain passes ideas
:D It only goes downhill form here, I do some very very very stupid ass things
@@SaffySprocket I thought you'd made that mistake by going upwards through all those bends???
You are a Joy Saffy. 😊
Thank you so much 🥰
For again be in the right gear approaching the turns (2nd if not 1st) also try to look up the hill as you approach the turn for approaching vehicles it avoids stalling and stop to start hill starts. The pass was quiet, if it was busy you would have been in trouble a few times. Oh and Finally WELL DONE!!!!!! Many more have tried and lost the bottle. I dont it 2 up with a pillion on a fully loaded GSA, and before Stelvio we done Gavia (INSANELY DANGEROUS)
Thank you so much ❤️ and thank you for your advice 😌
Well done 🥰🥰👍👍
Thank you 🤗
Your doing a great job
Thank you so much 💝🥰
Alpine passes are worth doing for the scenery but generally just hard work up and down gears. I did follow a big Harley up one once and noticed he had an easier time of it with so much torque at his disposal, he seemed to stick in second gear and roll on the throttle between hairpins
Ah man it was such hard work riding up! Honestly felt like I was going to fall off the back, it was so steep!
Hi Saffy it's another beautiful tour videos of you's.i enjoyed a lot while watching your video.I realize lot of energy and concentration you have put during your tour.Stay fit, healthy and be happy 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thank you so much 💝💝 I tried very hard!
Brave Biker! Total respect as you did this very late in the season, by yourself and in the rain!
Thanks a lot!
Well done your especially brave doing it on your own, keep riding safe Saffy
Thank you so much 🥰💕
Looks like you approached from the same way we did. The single lane road for most of the way through the apple orchard region, was slow. We even had a diversion through a town because of an accident. It wasn't until about Gomagoi that the road was clear.
The views are nonetheless spectacular on the eastern approach, but it's rough-as-guts to ride on!
It's the worst isn't it ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Yeah, this is life Saffy! It makes you feel alive!
Doesn't it just!!!!
....But did you die? Nope. and every hairpin turn and every slide of your wheels taught you something. You'll get better and look back on this day with pride. Ride safe and stay safe! You're doing things that many riders will never have the courage to do.
ahaahaha "Did you die doe?" - That needs to be on a shirt
Dying is ok being injured and not riding is sh1t
This is soooo awesome, every squel and come on Rocket reminded me of the first time I road Stelvio many years ago... you captured the moment beautifully 😍 ✨️ ❤️ 💕
Glad you enjoyed it!
Not sure if this has been mentioned already but I see you keep your head locked forward. I find it advantageous to check the road above me as I climb toward the hairpin. That way I can guage if it is safe to enter the turn wide staying out of those awful cambers making for a smoother turn and tighter exit. Just a thought but well done for doing it :)
You could see up the hill pretty easy to be fair!
Well done young lady that was brave doing that
Thank you so much :D
@@SaffySprocket your welcome
I’ve been riding 3 years and training for ROSPA. I hope to cover these passes and others this summer. No way in a million years I would try it in those conditions. You sound scared , makes me nervous just watching you !
I make myself nervous ahahha
Brilliant, well done, you're a brave girl, many people would not have attempted that in those conditions.
Thank you so much 💕
Respect! 👌
🥰
Very brave.
Well done keep up the good work, a little too for anyone not doing stelvio pass in the winter months….. do it in the early morning or evening, Poor conditions are not the problem then but traffic is, particularly on a bike, as saffy found out, stopping on those hairpins is not a good idea!
Ah man, I had to stop several times from fear 🤣
Amazing. Scary as anything, poor rocket. Great positive thought to end.
Ride safe! Lady J Rider
Thank you!
Great video again, water proof socks would really help out made by Oxford , you went up the hill the right way if you looked at the road
Signs. You kept laughing all the way and you still found enjoyment in it, which is all that matters. Thank you very much saffy ❤❤
I think I needed more of a giant rain overall than anything I was soaked to the bone. It's that crazy mist that doesn't feel like rain but before you know it's you're soaked through!
Very brave, rotten weather, warrior mode. Saffy you’re doing a great job…. That was properly tough
Thank you so much 🥰💕❤️
Job well done though il give you that . September looks grim on the stelvio . 😂😂. As I said hopefully it will be ok in June when we go . We going through Germany Austria Switzerland then Italy and into the dolomites and lake Garda . Love a short trip away . 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
You are amazing !!!💚
Thank you so much!
You are a legend 🙌
Thank you so much 💝🥰
You were bloody awesome. You dealt with those left hand uphill turns (my nemesis ) superbly x
Thank you so much and yeh, honestly, why are lefts the worst??????
@@SaffySprocket everyone has a preferred side, obviously ours is right. Once again that was ooooohh awesome x
On the Stelvio the right hand bends are the worst because they’re so tight you can’t avoid going over to the wrong side of the road. We did it in summer and it was busy, we took to stopping at the start of the bend, looking upwards over our right shoulders to see if anything was coming down, then going round on the wrong side of the road. The left hand bends are easy you just go round the outside of the bend. There was a foot of snow at the top (bear in mind it’s 10000 feet high) and the road was shut the day before. I’m amazed it was open in winter. Congratulations on making it , respect!!
Well done you riding in those conditions 👍….I did it in sunny August 2up and your right, it’s a bit of a workout 😀🏍👍
Thank you so much 🥰
Last comment was brilliant. Really you are going a hell of a lot faster than people who don’t try. Hey I was a Uni Law lecturer as well, great vids
Thank you so much 🥰
Epic ascent, you've got more bottle than 95% of bikers (male or female). I wouldn't have even bothered attempting that climb in those conditions, too wet/cold for me !
Great saffy , it does,nt matter which way you did it YOU DID IT . I,ve seen grown men turn around in better weather than you got but you did,nt.
personnally i think that way is harder but who cares , if you can do stelvio on a day like that you can do anything... congratulations keep em coming
Thank you so much 🥰
You did great Saffy 🤪🏍🗻
XD thanks!
you are amazing
Thank you so much 😊😊😊
Great effort, the weather was the same in summer 2008 when I visited !
I hope I can revisit on summer 😅
When did you ride the Stilfser Joch? I reckon last summer aye? Awesome video! BTW: The best rider is the one who gets home with all the body parts they left with...still attached😅 awesome XP! Cheers from Germany!
🤣 I didn't! I was a dumb dumb
I find that going down a pass in the rain is *much* scarier than going up. But this was butt-clenching stuff to watch. Mountains are dangerous, so pls be careful, and please stay to the right! 😮
Thanks! I was as careful as I could be :D
I agree, gravity pulling you down through hairpins can be butt clenching. Especially with an overloaded GS. Soft luggage and only 2 sets of underwear is the way forward.
Great work Saffy, every day on a bike is a chance to learn something new and put miles under your belt and make memories, just keep going at whatever speed you're comfortable with. People will always tell you what bike you need but any bike will be fine you just need to be comfortable on it. I did 10 days round Europe on my GPZ500 many years ago, loved every minute of it. Safe ride
Rocket was such a trooper on this trip!
Going up is always the right way.
It was certainly an adventure 😂
Love the sound effects Ooooooo Oooooo Ooooo
Having a mental breakdown at every turn
@@SaffySprocket you did great. My bike weighs 900 pounds... I probably would have turned around 😎🤠
Well done Saffy you did well. and there is nothing worse than having wet feet
Honestly, It's naff
"what am I doing with my life"? 🤣🤣 I often asked myself that question in similar circumstances. But I learned that even the craziest harebrained ideas led to some of the most memorable experiences. 😊 Great video, Saffy!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi! I found your video yesterday and I saw all these "well done" coments. It is far from well done. I know that I'll be hated for this, but I just have to say something. As somebody who works on the Stelvio and has done it at least a hundred times with motorbike, let me give you some constructive feedback. Please don't take it bad! I mean to help you. Every day I see people riding those tight switchbacks with fear on their face, feet down, walking with the bike, then sometimes fall. You less likely fall when you have enough speed. When you don't, and you can't touch the ground because the road is steep, then you fall for sure. So don't be afraid of having enough speed to take a turn, and don't be afraid of leaning the bike in! But I think the most important is to practice on easier roads and try Stelvio when you can ride with a good amount of confidence! It's just terrible to see how uncertain a lot of bikers are.
Hi Saffy, Its a real shame you had the bad weather I went to Stelvio last June 35c and not a cloud in the sky and just as terrifying
All part of the fun!
That'll do Saffy, that'll do. This might be something to look forward to. I've been riding (legally) since I was sixteen and I'm now heading towards seventy. I've always worn glasses 'cause of short sightedness and, like you, found fogging up, rain and snow a right pain. Two am in the morning despatch riding from The City of London up to Leeds on the M1 in February in the snow was less than joyful. But I went for an eye test recently and the optician said my eyesight had improved and I could now legally ride without specs! Apparently, as you get older it's not uncommon for short-sightedness to rectify itself! You handled the Stelvio very well.
It's nuts because at some points, you can actually see better without glasses!
@@SaffySprocket You might not realise (I didn't) that your whole life is seen through the Optic Nerve Cup, which is less than 2mm in diameter. You're just a spectator on the back of this. Not me but it's been said, “It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die. That is true, it's called Life.” You are living life on your bike in one year more than some people do in their whole lifetime.
I’ve rode the Stelvio several times and thankfully not in that weather you did it in. I think you did absolutely brilliant and you should be super proud of that accomplishment.
The best way to ride it is either from bormio then down the twistys or come in from Switzerland via the Umbrail pass.
Ah man honestly I wish I drove the other way around
@@SaffySprocket I lead a group of 11 Harley’s down it last June , I would not of brought them up they way you came. Especially in the summer and all the added distractions on the road. I’ve seen people tip over on those adverse cambers.
A MASSIVE, well done Saffy to do that road in that weather 👏 👍 love how you didn't hide your fear like some of us blokes do 🤣🤣 such a shame you didn't have better weather but maybe next time 😉 🤣
😂😂😂 that car appearing proper terrified me, it was a lot harder to see in real life than the camera shows
An amazing watch saffy you did everything right one piece of advice tho try rotating ur rhs mirror so it's sideways not vertical I think you might see more behind you anyway I've been riding since I was 16 62 now and have never tried anything like that just go steady and keep the power to the back wheel thru the tight right turns brilliant and inspirational and you talked us thru the whole thing ur a true ballsy biker !
Ooooh, Saffy Sprocket does philosophy, melikey!
My childhood nickname was PhiloSAFFical :D
@@SaffySprocket Haha, that's brilliant, love it!
Well done doing this in winter on your own - always more fun safer travelling with a buddy to cover each other. U might like some advanced training to sharpen up your lines stay ride safe
Thanks for the tip! 🥰
Respect, you're doing it 💪and you're getting better with every bend. Most people would have turned around. It was great watching.
Thank you so much ❤️🥰🥰❤️
That did not look fun, but well done it was an achievement.😌👍
Thank you so much 💞
For whatever reason things are never going the way you want. I love you vids. I love your clumsiness, I love Saffy Sprocket! And, whatever happends, don't forget your own words: It's all about the ride and you are doing a great great job! I watch your vids with the biggest smile on my (silly) face! If you ever are thinking about getting married.. I'm free next thursday around 2pm 😃(just kidding... it's 3pm) 🤣
Ahahah thank you so much ❤️
Think you deserve a brandy/whiskey in your coffee Saffy. Hair brain ideas, Swiss mountain pass in winter, think so, braver than the brave, more than the average level of daring. Falling off on a deserted (almost) winter pass, never to be found again!!!
Aha bravery or madness 🥰
Saffy, Saffy, Saffy! That was amazing. You have some grit in you for sure. What an achievement. Well done! Loved this ❤️
Thank you so much 💓
Another great video Sprocket Lady!, that looks like it would have been a fantastic pass ride with better weather!….fair play to you in those conditions…..rather you than me ya nutter!!! 😂🫶
ahahah yeh, its the fast top gear road! not much to marvel at the day I went over it!
@@SaffySprocket I marvelled at your grit and guts mate!…..got more bottle than me going at it in that weather!!…keep the videos coming sprocket Lady!! ….I love em!!! 🫶
I don't think I have seen a road that winding. You were successful, you conquered the road of life...not a waste of time when you learn a life lesson. Conratulations.
It was insane 🤣🤣 you're suppose to go down it
No matter what some may say about your lines etc you did it alone and in shit weather. I've done it a couple of times but only with others and in good weather. Have an honourary set of Kōnāhuanui for doing it👍
Thank you so much 🥰
Am jealous. All the time I've been riding and I've not made it to the Stelvio pass.
But since you said you were worried about the clutch - you can happily ride without the clutch, both up & down the gearbox. I knew the theory of it but had to put it into practice on the day my SV clutch cable snapped. Red lights were... interesting... but it's perfectly doable.
Also, don't worry about the luggage, the bike was designed to be capable of taking a pillion... your luggage probably weighs less (and has a lower CG) than if you had a pillion on the back. Rocket will be fine, it'll just feel weird.
Rocket still isn't talking to me after this trip 😅😅😃
Oh my days! Your words at the end were really a wake-up call, thank you!
And I hope you feel pride at your achievements as you look back on them whilst editing - you're an amazing lass and it was for a fantastic cause. Whenever the rain's lashing down hard and you feel like giving up from now on, you know that you are more than capable of keeping safe and getting through to the sunshine on the otherside of the mountain
Thank you so much for your support and I'm so glad my words inspired you 🥰❣️❣️❣️
