This theme alone is partially why Worgen are my favorite race. The other reason? They're werewolves! Put werewolves on quite literally anything and you've got my money.
Same here, the Worgen race are my favorite too! Even my main character on WoW is a Level 20 Druid Worgen.
@@GlitchyAnimationsYT god, I remember. my main character on my trial account, Panoramix the druid worgen! I got to level 21 until I started having to pay, which I couldn't because I was quite literally around 10 years old.

I may not like the Worgen as a race, but their architecture is awesome, and the music is pretty cool too
When we know that WoW is heavily inspired by Lovecraft work, Worgens and Gilneas is really the closest thing we have to it (in term of atmosphere, the area that looks like it's from the 19th (or 20th) century etc...
For the cosmic horror part i would say the Draeneï that look like aliens, they have weird, hard to pronounce names etc...
That's why the Worgens are my favorite race.

Because of Sylvanas I quit with the Horde, now I am a Worgen
I play both alliance and horde, and I totally agree, Sylvanas is a complete asshole. Idk, Vol'jin must have been high at the time he made her warchief.
What do any of you know about Sylvanas. She made the right call at the broken shore, Greymane has been through some shit but so has Sylvanas, now not only must she care about the Forsaken but for the Horde as a whole. And while I do disagree a bit with what she tried to do in Stormheim I think she's a capable warchief.

very much inspired by the horror-haunted victorian epoch, when gloomy shadows lurked ghoulish and evilly and fear gnawed and feasted on the mens soul, like the worm devoures the corpse who´s bed is the cold, damp grave;
with the gibbous moon shining insidous and daemonically on unspoken terror, perversity, sin and vice. But what accursed, dammed and unholy things does the Moon behold on dark, old and secret places? He remains silent and taciturn, as well the trees, who gain their nourishment from certain places, where the conqueror worm holds his never ending feast.

I cannot lie I love worgen a and their city gilneas and their fancy dialect and their fancy buildings and this amazing soundtrack. Every time I am in gilneas enjoying staring at the building and the music, I wish gilneas is still a prosperous city where I can actually hearth into and do business in. I swear if gilneas is a working city now ill never make my inn another place. Never ever anywhere else. I'm just obsessed with the worgen culture. Gilneas is such a gorgeous city. Sigh, I can never express my love enough for gilneas.

I've enjoyed so much this music walking through the dark, cold and silent streets of GIlneas. Knowing that in every corner are some terrifying creatures that want to suck the esence of life out from you. While hearing peopoles cryes for help being slaughtered by horrible creatures that see only darkness. While watching the glorious and beautifull buildings of it. While wondering through the beautyness of its undying, strange and cold forests that have so many story's to tell. Knowing that darkness and heaven found me....
Thats what atmosphere and feeling gave me Gilneas and those soundtracks. Its amazing, i've never had such an experience

Robert Skarżyński really? The "Puss king" lost his fucking son. And the humans left Gilneas not to fucking die from the plaque. If someone is a puss, than its Sylvanas.
HE.LOST.HIS.SON. He was killed right in front of him and had to live through what so many from lordaron did. Watching his people get turned into monsters and beats in the form of worgen and undead by the forsaken. Even Jania hasn't been through as much hell as greymane has. She may have lost thearmore, but she didn't have to watch her people get turned into beasts and monsters and then have to fight and kill those same people she swore to protect and lead.
Its a little hard to say he doesn't have the right to seek vengeance seeing as he did NOTHING to the forsaken before they invaded for pretty much no reason other than to make more of them.

When the piano starts going is where I hit nostalgia town. This is my favorite music in the whole entire game. The music is so depressing but in a good way. This is why I love worgen so much.
Actually, (if I'm not mistaken) that's not a piano, but a similar instrument called a Harpsichord. While the instruments are operated in pretty much the same manner, the Harpsichord has a lighter -dare I say- tinnier tone to it.

@@bigleo9291 A piano strikes the strings with a hammer while a harpsichord plucks the strings. That's the primary difference in sound among general construction, and harpsichords being smaller than traditional grand pianos. This results in louder overtones which also contributes to that "tinnier" sound you described

there should be a dungeon where you take that one time machine portal in the desert (forgot the name) and you can visit gilneas before it was destroyed by the undead and walk around.

+Caillou the sxe cat Mainly harpsichord with violin trills, then later full string secion (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass) then a few duet phrases with clarinet and oboe, i imagine the darker sounding woodwind instrument is the Cor Anglais backed with a bassoon, basically just an orchestra woodwind and string section with a harpsichord ^-^

Beautiful soundtrack. I love the Worgen race so much.. It was one of the only things that actually made me play Alliance, that and Nelfs. But if Worgens werent on Alliance i doubt i'd play ally.
Gilneas to everyones surprise is under Alliance control, atleast lore wise. The Gilneas Liberation Front fended off a second Forsaken invasion, sending Sylvannas back to Undercity to recover. SO LET'S PRAY WE MAY ONE DAY GET THAT ZONE

Gilneas was originally the strongest kingdom lead by King Greymane who later also fell to the curse. He never had much interest in joining the alliance of lordaeron, so the city itself kinda isolated it self from the Alliance since King Greymane believed that his own armis could withstand the war alone. When the scourge invasion began, King Greymane, ordered his court archmage Arugal (see where this is going ;D) so unleach his secret weapon, the worgen, as a defence system.

Cata did many things wrong but they nailed the 2 new races, both zone-wise and music. Both Worgen and Goblin had among the most iconic atmospheric music is wow.

Hopefully Microsoft makes an expansion where you can go back to Gilneas after it has recovered from the undead invasion

I honestly keep a Worgen in the starting zone JUST for this music and the atmosphere, architecture, etc. I really wish Gilneas/surrounding area could be used more; it's really disappointing not to see it last longer, imo.
I just like to make multiple worgen characters, and have them go through the starting zone. Once they are done in Teledrassil, they get deleted. I like making temporary characters for all races. The starting zones are just so fun to play in. Worgen is by far the best. Pandarian and Goblin are good too.
I like the dark atmosphere of the Forsaken, but the gothic aesthetic of Gilneas got me... between zombies and victorian werewolves, I'll stay with werewolves (personal opinion for sure, you can disagree)

The song is incredible. By just listening you can still imagine werewolves and undead(both are cursed races) eat eachother in the misty old and cold forest after all those years.

I hope we'll get any decent settlement someday... Or even retake our city, I promise I'd always spend my time there.
There wouldn't be much to really to do in order to retake it. If you go there in game there isn't even anyone there anymore. I think the only mobs I ever saw there were like some sheep and horses. Maybe 1 or 2 undead, but for the most part it's empty. It would be especially easier now that the alliance have destroyed undercity. I really hope blizzard does something with that zone, it's such a shame to waste such a good place. Even if they don't really do anything other than put mobs there it would be better than it is now. Like not even feral worgen walk around there.

Gilneas starting zone was impressive , 1st time through it good memories loads of worgens hehe , cataclysm was not to bad of an exp really :)
