He was a bit clumsy before and used to be a massive hot head, now Lionel Scaloni managed to get the best out of him again and now he is a veteran beast.

He show up and played just like 2014 Mascherano. The guy was a brick wall. Average 4.75 out 5 in the whole 2022 wc tournament which is the highest of all CB. He was the best CB!

I remember lots of Argentina fans wants him to be replaced few years ago, but he played in last 3 Copa America finals and Argentina conceided zero. In Finalissima, Argentina also didnt conceided. Against France, he made one bad mistake near the end but he has been solid in all previous games including against Croatia. Another WC winning players such as Ramos and Materazzi also had tons of clumsy moments, doesnt makes them bad defender.

He was the reason France scored as well as recently against Uruguay and Costa Rica
He is short, slow, old, clumsy, no iq, horrible passing and too offensive which is why Nunez scored on Argentina in November. We need to replace him now and Scaloni called up some young cb that is better than otamendi ever was in Leo Balerdi. He is faster, stronger, taller, more technical, better passing, and tackling/defending. As well as we need a new cdm cause Enzo is not a cdm, he is like Toni Kroos and paredes is horrible just like otamendi. Paredes is clumsy and makes horrible decisions that will cost the team. Alan Varela will bring a new dimension to the team
