Great song. Had only heard it once, 24 years ago before watching this again last night. Still remembered half the words! Thanks for putting the show up.
24 years?!?!?!?! I'm not doubting you now that I think about it. But, it seems only like last year I watched this on TV. I'm probably a bit older than I pretend to be ;)
because one of the famous cast didn't like the lines they had to read so they bought it out and now the film doesn't officially exist it was destroyed except for one recording from their tv in 1999.
I have an idea for a prequel series. The band are as they are now in the present day. They are all being interviewed for an 80’s fan site on the internet. As they are being interviewed about the old days in the 80’s the story flashes back to the 80’s with younger lookalike actors playing them. It could be a series with either 4 or 6 episodes. The final episode could be back in the present day with the release of a new single and being booked to play a retro festival.
Gary Numan pissed on his shoe...LOL... The first....and last...time I saw this film was over 10 years ago. Such a shame it has never been shown on TV again. Its one hell of a film, and Neil Morrissey playing...a WOMAN...?
Great affectionate pastiche of New Romantic/Synth cliches, and a decent tune in its own right And doesn’t Jane Horrocks look gorgeous with the bleach blonde punk hair?
Great film, really loved the actors, loved this song, feelgood finish. Never quite understood what Neil said at the end of the song though. I watched the film on You Tube, it is labelled Hunting Venus (Gary Numan). Length 1:31:39 Link below. czcams.com/video/awempMyjAFk/video.html
There is one thing they got wrong with this TV movie. When Martin Clunes said something about using a drum machine and not there drummer for the gig, one of the 2 girls who ran the fan club said it has to be the complete original line up. But after the Venus Hunters play it’s Human League up next. But that line up with the 2 girls is not the original lineup. The original lineup was an all male lineup.
True…but most of the viewers and indeed the record buying public would have only remembered Phil and the girls, and maybe Jo Callis of the Rezillos fame
Watched it tonight, brought back some memories

We headed for Saturn, inspected his ring lol
Never thought I'd see this again till it was on TV last night ❤
Brilliant, light-hearted tribute to the 80's. Love it!
This was great, only a shame they only showed it once and never did it on DVD, why not that's what I want to know.

I know this is a very old comment, but the reason is likely that it would cost more to licence the soundtrack than they'd make back in DVD sales.

There has been a DVD out for years
@@horrorfan7148 Not an official one. I have a bootleg myself but.
The wonderfully strange movie "Hunting Venus" is on AcornTV
Not gonna lie...I loved this!!!!
Brilliant track. Brilliant film.
Shame this wasn’t a 80’s track. It’s brilliant
My dads got a copy of the film because he filmed it off the tv decades ago. Qualities so bad but we’re lucky to have it
You can still get it on an unofficial DVD, Many sites do it

Er, early 80s pop lyrics weren't about space travel.
+Mole Town I'm not entirely sure this one is, which is why Martin Clunes is smirking all the way through it!
No more or less than 'The Final Coundown'.
Nor is this one, you sweet, summer child.
Space Age Love Song by A Flock Of Seagulls?
You're absolutely correct, Bluey G. Plus the classic hit single "I Ran" by A Flock Of Seagulls is about a UFO abduction. Rock on, everybody 🎸😃🎸😄!!
Hunting Venus was rubbish. It mocked some of the best bands. This song itself being a bunch of crap.
Oh fuck off 😂😂😂
Then why are you listening to it?? Daft prick
I rarely even watch movies, but I really liked this one.
