I joined the Army Reserve a few years after coming back from Vietnam. After weekend drills some of the guys would go down to the American Legion. It seems like all they did was drink beer and smoke cigarettes. I stopped going as I was not a real drinker and did not smoke. Welcome home brother and may God bless you.

I got off the civilian airliner in Oct of 68. I remember the heat being a bitch but not the smells. I immediately saw plumes of smoke in several places and thought the place was under attack. I found out the smoke was just guys burning barrels of waste from the out houses. The next day I ended up being one of the guys burning that stuff! Welcome to Vietnam cherry!

I was a RTO. Did not want to walk point. At least with the radio you knew what was going on.
