Andrew Lawrence-King introduces the PSALTERY

As its name suggests, the psaltery (like the harp) was associated with King David the Psalmist. Its array of metal strings symbolised medieval music theory.
The psaltery was also heard, amidst a vast array of late renaissance instruments, in the 1589 Florentine Intermedi.
