Good day and welcome to another scene walk.
In today's video i take you along the Vanhankylänniemi nature trail, which roughly translates to 'Old Village'.
I waited a long time to film this walk in the snow, so i'm glad i had the time to film it.
The trail is about 4 km long and takes you through the peninsula in Lake Tuusula.
Highlights on this trail include the Manor House and the scenery of lake Tuusula.
Foundations of the Manor House were laid in the first half of the 17h century.
Today it is used as a cafe and craft shop.
It is located on the shore of Lake Tuusula, now in a frozen state and accessible on foot.
The days are very short in December, the walk started at 14.45 and within an hour darkness fell.

The trees are SO pretty when covered in snow.
I appreciate that you pause and bring the camera up to show us the tops of the trees. If I were walking, I would be looking up because I love trees.
Vanhankylanniemi !! That's quite a mouthful.
Then, when you got to the lake, I'm wondering if that's safe.....images of people falling through the ice in my mind. But this was December, and I saw people skiing in the background. It's probably in the Springtime that the ice starts to break up.
About the 27:30 mark, it sounded like an American talking about snowboarding.
I had actually been thinking that there probably aren't too many American tourists in the winter. If you ever come across anyone from San Diego there in the snow, that would be a rarity!! ☺️ We would be like aliens in your world, but it really IS a beautiful world. 🇫🇮💙🇫🇮

Good to see you Robin. Yes, i also try to focus on my surroundings and take short breaks every now and then while walking.
The ice on the lake was already very thick, even vehicles to create the skating rinks drive across the lake.
If it's your first time on a frozen lake, it will definitely feel weird and scary, but you'll also get used to it fast.
It can take a very long time, even well into spring, for the lake to completely melt again.
Most tourists would spend time in Lapland, enjoying the ski resorts and admiring the beautiful Northern Lights (which i am patiently waiting to capture in Southern Finland)
I also film walks in the summer, but less intensely, because i prefer snow and darkness.
I'm going to visit family in Belgium again for a few weeks, so i'm trying to film places outside Finland during the summer period.
