    Hi Mercedes, I’m so happy you came to love Living libations once again. A few months back I Asked what you thought about the line because I believe that the whole line is so elegant and when I apply their oils I really do feel like a queen. I also agree with the companies philosophy especially when it comes to the sun . Can’t wait for your review. Another like than is an OG and agrees with the micro biome philosophy is Dr. Hauschka.

      Dr. Hauschka is such an OG!! I didn't know, actually, that they have an explicit microbiome focus but I'll explore more. I've only tried a handful of skincare items over the years from them. All very nice, very vintage green beauty. I picked up a few things from LL so I'm looking forward to revisiting :)

    Glad to hear you've come around to Living Libations. I admit I kind of rolled my eyes at the whole aesthetic until I tried the products and then I was all in. They were my mainstay from about 2010-2016 when I fell hard for Earthwise. I use both now with very little need or desire to look elsewhere although I treated myself to some Live Botanical products this winter that I also really like.
    I've never used probiotics in supplement form but the goat milk kefir I make is a staple food for me. I also use it to make masks that my skin loves.
    Thanks for the video. Great, as always.

      I've been culturing my own milk kefir all summer and agree it's SUCH a game changer! If I can get reliable access to raw milk I'll transition the culture over to raw milk totally but for now just using low temp pasteurized whole milk and we make smoothies regularly now and everyone loves them.

    I love your perspective! Simple, consistent skincare has been so lovely! I agree with you on probiotics - there is so much out there. And even skin not “needing” anything, which is probably true, but you’re right - our environments are hardly ideal, meaning our skin may need some help in order to function as it wants to. I read an article in Outside magazine a few years ago (they also have a short podcast episode on it) that completely changed my perspective on sun exposure. I love that you touched on that topic!

      I just quickly scanned the article and need to read more closely but this seems to parallel everything I'm reading right now in Andreas Moritz's book on the sun. It's really quite mind blowing, and yet ANOTHER example (very similar to the nutrition establishment) of just how corrupt and misguided a whole industry can be (in this case dermatology and the sunscreen industry).

    Really liked this video and information. I’ve definitely been on a path towards minimal skincare over the last year or so. I had been considering an oral probiotic recently but was wary as I had a bad reaction to one a couple years ago. Trying to start with diet changes and healing the gut that way first. Thank you for your insight. I too was curious about living libations years ago when I first started looking into skincare alternatives. I never bought any products but this video peaked my curiosity into that brand again. 💚

      I did end up buying a few things recently! Reflections to come I'm sure. I stopped taking an oral probiotic quite a long time ago, and I've been culturing my own milk kefir all summer and it's SUCH a game changer. Highly recommend home ferments!

    Great video as always! This is such an interesting topic and one that for years has peaked my interest for me personally. Most recently I have been working on trying to help heal my sons skin and gut from being on an antibiotic for an awful toe infection. He is autistic so having gut issues is nothing new for him. I have been incorporating ION Biome back into his routine after taking a month off to see if it was really making a difference for him and my daughter and all I can say is there was a huge difference for them both but that is a whole nother topic in itself. I also have been using Briotech and Mother Dirt in his routine and the healing is slow but coming along well. I do wish my skin would allow for me to be minimal but with being 42 I am seeing the signs of aging progress and with peri menopause I need something a lot more complex. Again thank you for this video and as always your views and discussion I live for. ❤️

      @lamouretlamusique  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh you brought Mother Dirt back into the front of my mind, I've heard of that line before and now really curious. We still love ION Biome over here, I try to get it into toddler L'Amour at least 1x per day but ideally more. Thanks so much for the kind appreciative words, means so much to hear and I'm so glad this was helpful and interesting!

    I thought your review was perfection. There’s so much we don’t know but if we stay open minded and tuned into our intuition, we eventually come to our personal truth. I ended up giving away the biophile products- they did not agree with me at all - no bad reactions but no resonance at all for me. Ayuna has not been a total win or loss for me though for the price i expect more from the line. I’m super curious about living libations - at the moment specifically their elts suncare product. I’m quite fair and noticed that by completely removing vegetable, nut and seed oils from diet, I don’t burn nearly as quickly. Makes me think about topical effects as well. Thanks for another thought provoking review!

    • @lamouretlamusique
      @lamouretlamusique  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes I've heard of this connection, eliminating PUFAs and having that make a huge difference. I did pick up the LL sun oil product so I will keep you posted on how it goes! I really have been loving the sunny balm from the Wild Woman Rising Co. shop - similar idea, a sun attenuator.

    I totally forgot about the 2 bottles of best skin ever I went through. I remember enjoying them too but but just got sucked into sexier packaging and empty skincare promises lol.
    I just checked out their site and am curious if their darker lip balm will be a diabolique replacement 🤞🏼
    Great video xx

    • @lamouretlamusique
      @lamouretlamusique  Před 3 lety

      Yes that Maidenfoam something or other? Maidenfern? Lol. I think I know what you're talking about. I was eyeing that some years ago and then never got around to trying it. I have a feeling it would be pretty sheer and not as pigmented as Diabolique but - you never know!

  • @naturalbeautywithmelanie

    Interesting. Micro biome focus is definitely the buzzword now. I actually saw the following recently: “Beekman 1802 has become the first and only skin care brand at Ulta to be officially certified as microbiome-friendly. “ my reaction was-oh that’s a thing??! So I guess we may be seeing that more…
    Side note: I got the recent beauty heroes box of LILFOX and was thinking “oh Mercedes definitely won’t be using these ones this month” due to the active products and your pregnancy. 😀enjoyed your video, as always.

      LOL correct, I addressed this (the LILFOX products) on an IGTV. Basically they're getting tucked away til fall :)

    I have loved everything I’ve used from Ayuna but was underwhelmed with Biophile. And when I say underwhelmed I mean disappointed and left with bad skin that needed to heal. I do think about his topic often. Like the used of surfactants on the skin as the normal daily routine or over exfoliating…
    On a side note, I wish I could gush about oils the way you do. They just don’t work for my skin. It’s weird and sad. My skin (face and body) gets clogged, dry and flakey whenever I use just oils. I can use emulsions fine. Water based skincare just works for me. Id love to try to get down to the root of why.

    • @lamouretlamusique
      @lamouretlamusique  Před 3 lety

      Very interesting...have you explored Marie Veronique's work on the skin barrier? That's sort of what it sounds like, but obviously I'm not a skincare professional. I also think the idea of a "skin detox" can potentially be very helpful. Jessica DeFino has covered this in depth.

    The essential oils in the Living Libations products burn my skin, even the lip balm. It's too bad because I like the concept behind this super clean indie company. I do, however, have several of their perfumes/scents and they are *lovely.*
