I might have been living under a rock, I discovered them only a few months ago! If you don't headbang to their songs, you should take your pulse!

Japan's Black Sabbath. What's not to love. It's awesome that us older folk can still rock out.

If they had been born in the USA they would be recognized on the same level as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, or Deep Purple.

🤣 I bet that when you started your CZcams journey you never imagined that one day you'd be sitting in front of your computer reacting to 3 guys dressed as a Meiji Scholar , a Buddhist Monk and a Yakuza Gangster singing in Japanese and playing heavy metal - but I'll also bet that you're glad it's come to this .
As a follow up song I'd recommend " At the Mountains of Madness " live which has the added bonus of Shinji playing the theremin or perhaps their latest MV release " Farewell to the World "
    Enjoy

You had me laughing at your sheer enjoyment of this. 🤣
Shinji (guitar) and Ken-Ichi (bass) are schoolmates and formed the band in 1987.
You got their influences right, and KISS is also an influence.
They are such a fun band. They even do camping videos and reactions to themselves in their channel.
I think you should check out "The Colour Out of Space" next. 💪

Lovecraft is also a big influence to them a few songs inspired by Lovecraft

Welcome to my second favorite band out of Japan behind Band Maid. Such a good band! I would suggest "Namahage" by them

人間椅子 aka: Ningen Isu, translates to "Human Chair". It's pronounced neen-gehn ee-su (with a hard "g"). These legends have been around for almost 40 years and have consistently produced a solid catalog of currently 23 original albums. Their newest album, "Matter is Void" came out just a few months ago. In the interest of helping to promote it, I recommend their newest official MV: "Farewell to the World" czcams.com/video/PAHig2tFeLw/video.html

I have the album from which this song comes from and their latest album. They have been around since the mid 1980s and done it all years before anyone else. There are some great live MVs around, one where the guitarist uses a theremin. There is also a video of him and Kanami (Band-Maid) having a guitar battle. I agree- sabbath all over. I saw the Paranoid and Master Of Reality tours in 1971 and 72.

I recommend another older band that is very popular and highly influential, called Maximum the Hormone. I've seen more than a few people call them the Japanese System of a Down, but those people clearly have never heard of Mr. Bungle. Anyway, they are a very impressive band to say the least and most of their stuff is wild and often weird, so I recommend starting off with one of their best song which is a little less weird. "Yoshuu Fukushuu" (予襲復讐) aka "Preparing for Revenge" official MV: czcams.com/video/beN5ep5MrdY/video.html

Aren't they a precursor to another current band? Can't remember which one.

    • @Gideon_the_Seeker

@@RockCandy-ix3nn Well, they are a precursor to quite a lot of bands probably. HANABIE, was actually a Maximum the Hormone cover band when they formed in high school, but when Yukina, Hetsu and Matsuri found out there already was one of those at their school, they decided to just write original songs. Akane from BAND-MAID was heavily influenced by them and inspired to become a drummer because MTH's drummer, Nao, is a woman. I know there are more examples, but I can't recall at the moment.
