Hey everyone!
In tonight’s video, I not only review the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show, but I also discuss exactly what Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin playing live on the show could mean for Led Zeppelin!
Was the show good? Or did it suck? And what about Jimmy Page?
Well that’s just what I’ll be discussing all of these subjects in tonight’s video!
Oh and as usual if you enjoy tonight;s video, please consider giving it a Thumbs-Up as that helps the CZcams algorithm better identify the channel to a larger audience!

Hey Folks! I’ll be on Royce in the House tonight, so I’ll be a bit behind in getting to the comments!

Say hello for me!!!
RRHOF has turned into a dumpster fire. Too many good bands not being recognized and other bands and artists being recognized that leave you scratching your head.
And when your talking about rap dont forget to add a C at the start.
@@bonscott6353 WELL SAID
Thanx James! ❤❤❤
Hall of LAME.
Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, DJ Kool Herc, George Michael, Willie Nelson and The Spinners are now in the ROCK AND ROLL Hall of Fame. The Guess Who, Three Dog Night, Peter Frampton, Blue Oyster Cult, Devo, Motorhead, Golden Earring, Nazareth, Harry Nilsson, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Procol Harum, Humble Pie, Scorpions, Slade, Annie Lennox, James Gang, The Monkees, King Crimson, INXS, Grand Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, Styx, Uriah Heep, Supertramp, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, Badfinger, Iron Maiden, etc... are not. That's just a partial list...
OMG> I knew of some of the people overlooked but, I did not know many you mentioned, thinking they were may honored awhile ago. How sad that this was supposed to be an honor to those who did impressive work in the world of rock and instead we are treated to people who are brand new and NOT in the world of rock.
I wonder if they had a R&B hall of fame if they would be happy to have people like King Crimson, Humble Pie, Iggy Pop, ect included for honors for the sake of being inclusive.
You forgot Black Oak Arkansas, the 1st southern rock band and 1 of the best live acts ever.
Great list. No, excellent list.
@canadianstudmuffin, I absolutely agree with you my friend. However, IDK about all of these great well deserving music artists you mentioned here as being snubbed by the R&RHoF. Yet you can at least take 2 off of your list that I know of who are already inducted into the Rock Hall. "Iggy Pop" was inducted with The Stooges & "Annie Lennox" along with "Dave Stewart" were inducted as The Eurythmics. 🤘😉🤘 ☮️
@@216Numbskull Yes, but I was talking about their solo careers also, thanks.
I'm SHOCKED, totally SHOCKED that the R&R Hall of Fame continues to sink into the swap. They left "Rock & Roll" a long time ago and continue to show zero class.
Boy are we in agreement there David! BTW: I really enjoyed the panel at Royce’s tonight! You were great! 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT !!!
David right! Thanks for cohosting last night, your contribution and humor are always welcome.
Those are not even rock acts they put in disgraceful !😡
They should just call it the music hall of fame , might give it some legitimacy, but I doubt it
They've made it pretty clear it's no longer a R&R HoF but a Popular Music HoF.
Woke of Shame
When I see Ariana Grande at a R&R HOF ceremony I know rocks dead.
Where's Warren Zevon, Grand Funk, Free, The Guess Who, Thin Lizzy, UFO, etc...In other words Rock Acts?
Rock and Roll Hall of Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness.
Yeah,DEI is on life support these days.
What is rock and roll? Well, the RRHOF board subscribes to this view.

Rock and Roll Hall Of Old Men Yelling At Clouds
I hope Robert, Jimmy, (and John) have the good sense to never imagine, let alone consider, doing a reunion of any sort whatsoever. I want to keep my greatest memories intact.
Yea I don't think it's gotten better since 2007.
@@BoneCK15after heating Robert perform Stairway a couple days ago, not at all well by the way, I can’t imagine this disaster hoisted on their fans . This would NOT end well.
Agreed. It needs to rest. I would prefer the Zeppelin legacy be left in tact. Such a project would put that at risk.
@@36karpatoruski Our memory of Robert singing this classic work on the album and the videos of him performing it live is enough.
He is 76. While he is active in performing he is not the man who could do this even 20 or 30 years ago. It is not an easy piece of music and he is not able to do it justice.
A reunion wouldn't change a single thing about what they've accomplished. If it's going to ruin your memories, maybe your memories are too fragile.
Missy Elliot is in the HOF, Jethro Tull is not. Case closed.
There ya go.
And that's the way the critics want it. I tell you, they're getting back at all of the suburban white rock fans from the '70s whose tastes the critics who run the RRHOF found execrable.
No comparison in musicianship
It's not 100% rock and roll. I think it should be,or change the name. Some of these people have no resemblance to rock and some great rockers are totally ignored. It's a farce.
Yes!, Missy Elliott is NOT r and r. Run Dmc is not r and r, I don't care if they did walk this way with Areosmith or what, they are not r and r.
Great episode,Michael!
When I saw that initial footage of Jimmy on CZcams a tear came to my eye. I couldn’t believe it! He looked great and he played with confidence. I watched it again properly on Disney today and it was incredible all over again. Jimmy got such a huge ovation! Elton was waiting forever for people to stop clapping so he could induct Bernie. Page was the highlight of the evening by far! He’s rock and roll royalty and the most important person in that room, in my opinion. Cheers ✌️
It put a smile on MY face OOTT! Good to hear from you! ❤❤❤
I couldn't agree more. Rock God in every sense.
I'm going to have to look up on CZcams Jimmy Page playing Rumble. I don't even pay attention to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anymore because of the people and bands they have been inducting. They need to induct, in no particular order, John Mayall, Joe Walsh, Mountain, Jethro Tull, and Grand Funk Railroad. I think Warren Haynes put his first album out over 25 years ago and I would put him in. I should write down my list because I can't always remember my picks. And Michael, I agreed with everything you said in your video.
@@paulinwoburn9680 I might add Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Bad Company, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore and many others..
@@paulinwoburn9680 I would add the legendary Alexis Korner and his Blues Incorporated.
He was foundational to the entire evolution of that early 60's London scene - and the one that followed.
The one that would come to be called the Second Epoch of British Blues - taking in the likes of not only Mayall and his Bluesbreakers (Clapton, Greeny and Taylor) but Charlie Watts, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, Graham Bond and Long John Baldry.
But hey - it took the RRHOF 30 years to induct one of that movement's greatest teenaged fanclubs - Peter Wolf and the Geils Band - so I won't be holding my breath.
The fact that it took years and years to acknowledge YES, THE greatest progressive rock band just made me very unimpressed with the organization. And the fact that they FINALLY gave YES their due after the greatest bass player in rock was dead just made me never want to go there.
This!
Yes should have been included long ago. They were an important and innovative group that did so much for rock. But, there are many important musicians and groups who have been overlooked because the RnR hall of fame thinks they need to be inclusive so they put in non rockers when there are plenty of rockers who are minorities and women.
Similar to the travesty that Deep Purple had to wait so long to be inducted, after the great Jon Lord had passed away.
Not just that but Yes split into two groups during thrir 2017 induction. First is Yes by Steve Howe as i call it and then there is the Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman version also known in short as ARW. Tensions built up so much over the years that Anderson states that Howe kept avoiding him all evening that night.
Peter Banks is said to feel angry Steve Howe cant let him perform at least 2 songs on stage at the ceremony and backstage, Howe acted rather petty by creating his own bodyguard setup
Don't forget about, ELP
It took Rush 39 years to get in the hall, while Madonna gets in there the first year she's eligible.
Anyone who supports the RRHOF or watches the show is part of the problem at this point.
I'm glad link Wray got in
Long Overdue 🙏
I am the only one who thinks the headline was supposed to say 'Not Even Jimmy Page COULD save it ?
It should be called music hall of Fame. There are so many Rock Bands that are not in there, it's so sad. 🤘😎
Jimmy Page's contribution is immeasurable to Rock. A monster song writer, his tunings, the originator of the light/heavy thing (ex: Baby I'm gonna leave you) his studio expertise, his stage showmanship and so on. However, as much I worship Zep, I'm afraid it would be a mistake for a reunion. They couldn't live up to expectations. His chops aren't what they were and understandably. Plant also wouldn't hit those notes but who can expect him to? I have nothing but love and respect for them. Every rock guitarist or producer owes Jimmy a great deal of gratitude. He's a legend among legends and deserves to retire with dignity. Just my 2 cents.
+ @gtrslinger6262 Lindsey Buckingham fall in that status. Fleetwood Mac sound was his baby. Made Cristine and Stevies's demos into gems. He has Les paul Award for it, but not the same as HIMSELF inducted rather than just some ole bandplayer on FM.
@@thevoid6818 Agreed. Sad too.
I loved how Bernie took a couple of not so subtle shots at Wenner in his acceptance speech!
I think the time has passed for any Zeppelin reunion, like Steve Perry his upper register is gone.
Any hard rock/ metal band worth its salt should avoid this sham like the plague.
I'm so happy to see Jimmy play again. He sounded great too!! He nailed link rays tone aswell
The biggest head-scratcher for me was the induction of Dolly Parton. Dolly Parton? For real?
My favorite Rock Hall moment was Alex Lifeson's acceptance speech at Rush's induction in 2013. Possibly the best acceptance speech ever! 😁
Blah blah blah blah blah blah
@@James-vx8ci 👍😁
I think an even better induction speech was given by Iggy Pop when the Stooges were inducted in 2010. The first thing Iggy Pop did was to give a double middle-finger aimed at the HOF, Jann Wenner, and the music industry execs. He then said "well here we are in the belly of the beast".
@@pbracey1 Rightfully so on Iggy's part by giving that narcissistic, ignorant, pompous prick Jann Wenner the finger, he's lucky that's all Iggy gave him. If it was the young punk Iggy Pop from back in the day it would have been a real sh!t show, no bout a doubt it my friend. (pun intended) 🤘😜🤘 I wish Iggy would of... That's dude Jann's a f%$kin' dipsh!t!
I gave up on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago for obvious reasons. I agree with your comments👍
They just need to change the name and leave out the title Rock and Roll.
It is all about who they want to be in the HOF.
I can’t believe all of these amazing people of true Rock and Roll aren’t there
I long gave up on the RandRHOF years ago. It took them, like, fifty years to put great TRUE rock bands like Rush, Yes, and Deep Purple in there, while they had acknowledged non-rock artists all the time. Like the Acadamy Awards for movies, this organization has lost all sense of reality and all credibility. Now they have LL Cool Jay and Wham????? More like a Crock Hall of Fame.
I wonder if OZZY OSBOURNE, IRON MAIDEN, KISS, BLACK SABBATH, DIO, SAMMY HAGAR, OR RUSH are going to be in the R N B OR HIP HOP HALL OF FAME?
Would be great to pause inductions if rock and roll criteria not met. They're acting as if they have a quota to meet.
That sounds about right.
RRHOF proves the old adage that there is a sucker born every minute
no "again" needed. it's always suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.
Rock & Roll has no HOF. It died many years ago. I visited Cleveland a few years ago. Was invited to go to the place but chose to visit a local pub instead.
Remember when Thor was the only one worthy of the hammer ? I do too. But now, everyone is worthy.
There are many who got to see LZ at the peak of their powers in the 70’s, and some who saw them even earlier, at the very beginning.
I don’t think anyone misses them more then me. I was lucky enough to have seen them eight times, and I’m afraid that’s going to have to be good enough….
It’s done, it’s over, and has been since 1980 when we lost the great John Henry Bonham. The legacy is there, it’s safe, and should remain that way for all time, preserved in history.
I saw them in Toronto ‘69.
Plant sang Stairway because a big spending donor (for the charity concert) asked for the song to be performed. You won't see the three members of Zeppelin playing together again. Page wanted to release more live Zeppelin but he was blocked by another member. (guess who) Also, Jason Bonham gave an interview on how Page introduced him to some "foreign" substances. Days later, Page's lawyer threatened to sue him if he didn't retract it. Led Zeppelin has been and always be my favorite band. But it's over. 2007 O2 was the last show. Plant is in two acts (Plant/Krauss and Saving Grace) and Page is retired.
I once complained to the RHF that so many "famous" bands are not in it. They replied that it isn't about record sales or popularity. I said it's like the inventor of the aluminum bat was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but Babe Ruth was snubbed.
Personally, I dont want to see Jimmy and Robert do any of the old tunes they've done many times before. I want to see them write and perform a brand new original track that represents where they truly are at this point in their lives. Probably won't happen but you never know.
"At this point in their lives." LOL. Come on, Jimmy Page will be 80 years old in January and is worth over $200 Million dollars. The guy isn't in his 40's. You really think the guy is gonna record new material???? He's done enough after 60+ years in the music industry.
They are honored for what they did, not for what they are doing now.
@@robertwheatley2471 Thank you. this is what I have been trying to say. That Jimmy started out professionally at 14. He has done amazing things for music and created, headed up and produced the greatest band ever. He teamed up with Black Crowes and Coverdale, ect. He wrote a book and lectured. He is a legend. an icon. I have thought for awhile he is semi retired and doing whatever he wants to do that day. He deserves some fun and just to mess around and enjoy the 'spoils' of his work. Just enjoy life and take it easy.
Spot on Jon! 👌❤❤
@@DianeLake-sw3ym --Correct. Page's contributions have been more than enough having been in 3 bands, 2 or 3 solo records and collaboration with both the Black Crowes and Coverdale. I doubt he would put out any new material at age 80 that might be sub-par or not as good as what he did 40 years ago and I don't think he would run that risk unless he chooses to. Just live out and enjoy the final stretch run. He certainly doesn't need to prove anything at this point.
I wholly applaund RRHOF changing its name to the (S)hit Show Hall of fame..it would be perfect for them. True Rock and Roll hasnt been recognized in that place for awhile.

R&R HOF is a misnomer.
I think the number one reason why they won’t be a Led Zeppelin reunion, Michael, is that Robert Plant simply cannot reach the notes that he could reach. If there’s anything close to a reunion, it would probably be more of the acoustic numbers in an intimate setting.
Christ, Robert couldn't hit the high notes since '74. Have you listened to physical graffiti lately? He was already struggling.

Paul Rodgers has made it clear that he wants nothing to do with the RRHOF.
Haven't watched it for years, It's a crock.
It's outrageous that they were ever even allowed to call it a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The only true minority in this Hall of Fame is Rock & Roll.
One more Zeppelin concert, maybe. Tour? Never
If they want to be taken seriously take rock n roll out of the title and call it the Popular Music hall of fame. Unfortunately R&R is no longer the dominant music, also groups playing their own instruments and writing their own material have all but disappeared. Also the album is also dead, people just download singles. It’s quite sad really .
Absolutely agree.
Hey Michael! Thanks for all the inside scoop on the ceremony itself, i wasn't aware of all this! Classic RRHOF stuff it seems, they get some things right, others...well. ELP is still not there right? I will email you soon to see what kinda program we can come up with!
Thank you Michael, enjoyed your thoughts. Hope does spring eternal in my heart but the only problemI see if it were to come to fruition is that only those with means would be able to afford such an event. I also have a huge soft spot for the underserved. See you at Royce’s House!

What I keep wondering is what makes the R&R HOF so official? Why can’t a big name, or a group of big names in Rock, start a R&R HOF that aims to be legitimate?

Rock n Roll hall of shame is a FRICKING joke!!!
The Rock & Roll HOF should be an embarassment to any rock and roll fan.

The RNRHOF has always been a joke.
How about creating a Music Hall of Fame? Then they could put Rock artists in the Rock Hall of Fame.
Some of their inductees don't even qualify as music. Is there a Noise Hall of Fame?
There is no rock and roll. It died years ago. And when The Stones finally give up, probably by death, that will be the absolute end of what we knew as Rock And Roll. The RRHOF organization needs a show to fill their coffers so this is what they do. 98% of these people have nothing to do with actual rock and roll.
Hey Michael! Thanks for the great video. Quite a week or so: Plant sings Stairway, the Beatles release a single, and Jimmy plays the doubleneck live. For geezers like me, I must be dreaming! Cheers to you, and best wishes for the Mrs! Ernie
And the Stones release an album!
Jimmy Page is looking more and more like a wise Chinese sage lol
JOKE Don't waste your time
Hey. Nice video. From the Rock & Roll HOF's inception, I always thought it was pretentious. It was the ultimate "Answer to a question no one asked". Or, Groucho Marx's quote: "I wouldn't belong to a club that would have me as a member".
Absolutely Michael
Might as well call it the every other genre besides rock and roll hall of fame now...
Why Jethro Tull has not been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?????
Nobody in America cares about any award shows or watches them anymore.
Hey Michael, great seeing ya last night. It was an all-star panel and a great discussion on Royce in the House. Always a pleasure.
I never watch these RRHOF shows. It's a bastardization of the term Rock & Roll and whether Wenner is there or not, the show still reflects his biases, politics, and sensibilities. No thanks! I do want to add that in addition to his songwriting, Willie Nelson is also a really good guitar player, especially when he shows off his Django influence. Gotta love that Trigger guitar too.
As for one final Zep reunion, How Many More Times will you Ramble On about this? We must all accept What Is and What Should Never Be. Ok ok, that's enough of my silliness for one day. You know I sympathize with your position on this. As you say, hope springs eternal. I would just love if Jimmy would stop talking, get off his arse, and go out and play again. He should have done this following the release of It Might Get Loud. The timing was really right then. I have seen nearly all my heroes live except Jimmy, so that is where my own hope lies.
🙏🙏🙏
Thanks as always for being the voice of reason and accountability with the Hall of Shame. Keep up the awesome work, my friend.
The question is, do we really want to see a Zepp reunion in their twilight years? For me, there never was a proper Zeppelin reunion anyway, not without Bonham.
Diversity and wokism has damaged this institution beyond recognition. Time to re-name it “The all music hall of fame”. Then rock purists start a true rock and roll hall of fame.
Excellent presentation! Just checking your videos out for the first time, and really enjoyed it! That performance by Page was practically the only saving grace of a lost cause known as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, and I strongly agree that the world needs at least one more Zep reunion. However, as I wrote in another comment elsewhere, the boys need to seriously get moving before the history books close. The recent release of the final Beatles song is sad evidence of that.
Your right and would love to see it!

Link Wray is probably the best thing they've done in maybe--the last 20 years? But that still doesn't save them from all their other bad decisions
Michael, breaking out the truth here, I have never seen a video from you. However, the algorithm gods are happy with me today and I really dug your take, open and honest (plus, as a bonus, I agreeded with your entire spiel). I don't subscribe to "music" related channels... but today made an exception. Thanks for your work and I look forward to digging thru what I've missed from you. Happy T Day sir.
AGREED! The Rock 'n' Roll Hall of fame is pretty much a joke! Even without Jann Wernner there! They need to seriously take off the Rock part of the name, and just call it the music hall of fame! As well, there were only two highlights for me and that was Kate Bush's induction, even though she didn't attend and that's due to her huge fear of flying!
But easily the second was Jimmy's surprise appearance! And he played exactly like he always did, flaws and all and that what makes him so great!
I'm on board if the name got changed to "The Music Hall Of Fame".
Rock and roll hall of shame . What a joke they are
Rock and roll Hall of crap
I've been to four or five of the Induction ceremonies and three of them were pretty good. But that was some time ago and the last two or three seemed so potentially crappy I didn't even consider attending. An idea I had that I thought was pretty good was to forget the "fake" fan vote and instead have a contest whereby the winner(s) could choose one or two artists of their liking to be included in the next class. I don't think they, the powers that be, would seriously consider this but maybe with some coaxing.....
Need to change the name of this building. Joke!!!
We all had high hopes for the RARHOF.
They had some missteps, but voting in Madonna was the beginning to the end.
Rock and Hall of Fame is a Joke !
I’ve never been and have no desire to go.
I think its disgraceful that Alan Parsons is not an inductee.
Reminds me of when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for a grammy in '89. That is the rock and roll hall of fame, Jethro Tull being bigger rockers than Metallica. Hell-arious
That would be so Awesome!! Let's get the Led Out!! Zeppelin. We want you Back!
Never watched the phony hall of fame shows and never will. Only Semi's would bother.
The RRHF should have their credentials pulled. It's not the Country Hall of Fame, it's not the Hip Hop Hall of Fame, nor is it the Pop Music Hall of Fame, as far as rock and rollers are concerned. Rock, Blues, and maybe stretching it a bit for 'Rhythm and Blues', should be honored here. You don't see Led Zeppelin honored at the Country Music Hall of Fame, etc.
I believe that they should change their name to the 'Something Else Hall of Fame' or the 'Kitchen Sink Hall of Fame'.
Led Zeppelin forget it.
Few people mention Squeeze. They were considered the Lennon-McCartney of New Wave at the time.
When the New York dolls beat Jethro Tull to be inducted I knew they were done.
