Are you too old for long hair? Mary didn't like her long hair. In fact, she wanted it short.
She came to Makeoverguy for her Power of Pretty Transformation Experience and got the makeover of a lifetime.
It wasn't just the long hair that dragged her down. She has a pear-shaped body with narrow shoulders. Leggings do not work with this body type, no matter what anyone would wear on the top.
She has deep-set eyes that are asymmetrical. She has a proportionately small mouth and a stronger nose that she would consider ideal. With the help of the "MAKEOVERGUY" team, all was set in balance.

She was beautiful before & after but her confidence & happiness make all the difference! The new do’ is really cute on her. No one is ever 'too old' to wear long hair down, and she would have looked as amazing in the after shot with the same clothes, makeup, and straightened trimmed hair with lift at the roots. Enough of this 'women are too old to do this now' rubbish, it weaves ageism into the mindsets of many and strengthens it. This isn't to detract from the work you have done here by the way, it is ace. I just feel it is time to flip the script regarding aging and people's perception of it. Are you in your 40's, 50's 60's and beyond and want to wear your long hair down? Go for it, and you will look mighty fine too.

Her hair was so beautiful. There was no need to cut it off. I hate the stigma of cutting your hair short because your 50 mine long and always will be. She could of got her hair done in a curtain long bang style that you can put up without just giving up on her long hair. Even though she was happy and pulled the look off beautifly. I could not cut my hair off.
I'm 72 and my hair is white blonde grey not silver, it is almost to my waist...I get lots of compliments on it , people say I don't look my age.
I have had all lengths of hair and I find that long hair is easier to handle......you can always find a style in a hurry😅
If she had her makeup done like that when she had her long hair she would have been even more beautiful and looked even younger. Notice how the makeup fixed her jaw line area to appear more youthful. Long hair is a gift. Cut it shorter if you want, but don’t play like that. Your trying to add to much emphasis on the hair when in reality it was the makeup that mattered most in this video as both sets of hair can be pretty. She’s pretty without makeup but for a younger look it was the makeup-definitely not the hairstyle. You’re never to old to have long hair- it’s a GIFT FROM THE MOST HIGH. Especially if you’re fortunate enough to have longer length hair as an older woman embrace it if you want. It don’t have to go that short to be beautiful.

As an Indigenous American woman, I will have long hair til the day I die. This woman didn't know how to take care of long hair. It's easier and cheaper than having short, styled hair. I never use a brush after a shower, only wide tooth detangling comb.
As a curly haired woman, I was shocked when she said she struggled for half an hour every day to detangle her hair. That woman needs a serious hair care education. I would like to know if she’s still smiling when she tries to reproduce the short bob styling at home every day with curlers and barrel irons.

So glad you didn't color her hair either, that transition to natural white is so STUNNING. I was really impressed by everything. She is beautiful to begin with so that helps! lol. You were able to give such a modern and clean line to her body. She looked more balanced and a little taller. She had a new confidence that was very attractive and I couldn't stop laughing at her saying she thought she would not like it. Your mom and those shoulder pad suggestions never failed a lady on there. :-) I'm 37 but already going gray rapidly. Would love to come see you some day! Keep up the great work.

Hearing her say "my husband doesn't even notice me" was so sad and irritating - I bet he sits in his chair all day, has 2 beers every night at the same exacct time every night. It's time he woke up and paid his lovely woman lots of attention.
She became invisible behind the curtains of hair, which was hanging down and bringing nothing to the table. The new hair style is fantastic and the makeup was perfect, very natural and soft ❤❤❤

There's no 'cut off' age for long hair. If you look in the mirror and don't like how your long hair looks, then it's up to you and no-one else if you want to change it.

If a woman wants to keep her hair long, she has every right to do so. And if she has long hair and wants to cut it short, that is her right, too, and it's nobody else's business if she does. Other people don't have to wear, brush, or maintain the longer hair they say they love so much on us women that want to cut our longer hair short, for whatever reason we choose to do so. She just listed about half a dozen reasons why she wanted to cut her hair and I think she made the right choice. She looks great.

Until it thins out so much you see scalp everywhere and it doesn't grow long.
I actually thought she was already quite beautiful, and just as beautiful after the makeover. The biggest difference, honestly, was how she felt about it. Beauty is only skin deep, and she was already gorgeous on the surface. However, seeing her absolutely glowing with confidence was what took her to the next level. It just proves, the way you feel about yourself really does show. I'm so glad she can feel as beautiful as she really is.

I am 72 and and my hair is to the bend of my leg. I would never consider cutting my hair. Can't imagine how or why. Thru the years I've learned how to keep my hair up and neat. And who in this world says a person is too old for long hair? Who?Not God. That is all that matters to me. It's my glory.
I agree - no one is ever too old for long hair! My mum is 74 and has long white hair, which is so beautiful! But what's important is, that you feel happy about yourself and your hair. The lady in the video needed the transformation to feel beautiful, so for her that was the right dicision.
I have hair to my waist. I'm 34 (but I enjoy this channel) and people have already started telling me that I'm getting "too old" to have long hair, and when I'm 40, it's time to cut it. There is no such thing as too old. It doesn't matter if a person is 100. I hate that age restrictions are put on personal style and preference for women. A woman's unique sense of style is what contributes to her beauty.
I'm 60, my hair is also long, and I could care less what ppl think! I think it's harder to maintain a hairstyle. I do use color on my hair because I like to.
My hair is to my waist and has been since childhood. Long is easy, plus I don't like the idea of layers. The downside may be using lots of shampoo.
I have thigh length hair and only use a small dime size drop of gentle shampoo, I massage it into the roots and let it run down the length as I rinse. I do the opposite with conditioner, start at the ends. Do you use other products that you need to wash out?
Why is it that when women turn a certain age they have to chop off all their hair? All she needed was the makeup and styling she got with the short hair. She looks beautiful both ways, but geez that long hair was stunning.

I'm 54 and have absolutely no intention of having less than shoulder length hair ever. Even my sons have long hair. One of my grandson's is frequently mistaken for a girl.

Styling long hair at any age is a chore. I used to have long hair down to my waist, and it was like having a second job! A lot of women I know spend two hours on their hair every day.

If you want long hair and can deal with it at 80, it's totally your deal and nobody else's. I could never figure out why it's anyone's business to tell others what they should be doing with their life or appearance.
They make money by telling us what to wear,hair,makeup etc. Most of us here are of a certain age. We grew up being free to be us. Don’t let them ruin it.

I was so glad that they didn't color her hair blond or brunette. I let my hair go gray gracefully 5 years ago and I get so many compliments on it. She looks amazing.

Looks to me like she was given highlights and a lilac colour wash. It does brighten the white and makes the gray more steely - and "bonus" less aging.
I'm 64 now with long hair that is streaking itself with white. I love long hair and regret cutting mine a number of years ago. I refuse to color my hair or perm it and it's still thick, soft and shiny! I look forward to when my hair is completely white and long! It will be stunning!

I am 72 and have longer hair than Mary’s. Wouldn’t change it for anything. So easy to comb (no brushing, just a wide tooth comb), can put it in a bun, ponytail or really fancy for a special event and don’t have to worry about pleasing a man, got over all that rubbish decades ago and my life is about pleasing me and my family, and they love me as I am, however I am.
Agree. I am 56. I have been told since I was in my 30s that long hair wasn't appropriate. I still have waist length hair and will not cut it.
If you are happy how you are that's amazing for you. However, I don't think she was happy with her look and she wanted to change it for herself.
Whatever length of hair makes you feel like your best self is what you should have, there is no such thing as an inappropriate length of hair.

@@kimberlybrown4284 I had one older brother and our mother had our hair cut the same, short, boyish until I was old enough to go to work and do my own thing, but cut it again when I had kids. Now it is exactly how I want it, very long, easy care, just don’t use any heat on it, ruins it eventually and make sure it is conditioned especially on the ends. Anyone can look great straight out of the hairdressers, especially with an ‘after’ photo all made up LOL, but the maintenance is a whole different story for me, I never could get it to look the same myself and these days it costs too much to keep going back to the hairdresser to have it done. My mother made disparaging remarks about how long hair is SO unsuitable for older women, but she was like that all my life and easy to ignore.
OK, this may be the biggest transformation I've seen here. You took 20 years off her and the energy that was beaming out of her afterward! The haircut is amazing on her (not what I was expecting, but what SHE wanted). The clothes fit her lifestyle and vibe, and her eyes suddenly popped! Amazing. Also, I'm happy to see this format again. Do not cut your hair just because "the world" says you have to look a certain way. Do it only because it is what YOU want. The world has no right to say whether you are beautiful or not. Only you have that right.

True, you change only when you are ready. But, try not to be stuck in your ways. One of the hallmarks of youthfulness is being flexible and trying new things. Otherwise, how do you learn about yourself. The lady in this video looked just fine with her long hair, but she clearly wasn’t happy with her looks - and didn’t really know why. Her new look is AMAZING. If you don’t open yourself up for change, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten! 😂 I love me a good makeover…

I suspect she felt like Thing (AdamsFamily) and people only saw her hair not her. It's the same with women who have a good bosom - people look only at the chest. It must be really dispiriting. Nevertheless, the majority of women of a certain age seem to be ignored as a matter of common practice. I think it's why they get a bit bolshy - the stage after "woman of a certain age" = "Careful, be cautious around Her".
