There are millions of alternate reality timelines where Big Shot Chronicles went platinum...
Those would be the alternate realities where talent is recognized, excellence is rewarded, and justice rolls down like a mighty river. I'd like to visit one of those, even if it's just for long enough to see Game Theory still packing stadiums on their 2021 world tour.
It warms my heart to see a comment here that isn't 6 years old. Amazing music.
unbelievable that this band was so overlooked. some of the most melodic and genius songs i've ever heard.
Scott Miller. (April 4, 1960 - April 15, 2013), Game Theory + The Loud Family + Alternate Learning.
Gil Ray. (September 17, 1956 - January 24, 2017), Game Theory + The Loud Family + Rain Parade.
The most awesome band that never.
This song is as good as possible. Upbeat, dense with melody...gold.
The last second says it all, with Donette jumping up in the air like a rock star and Scott holding forth like a folk troubadour. That band wasn't big enough for both of their aspirations.
God bless you Scott, we could use you now more than ever
This is the greatest music video of all time. RIP Scott.
And RIP Gil too...
I won a copy of "real nighttime" from WCWM (William and Mary radio) in '86 or '87 .It was a cassette I',m pretty sure, and it blew my mind. Those songs had a profound impact on me musically and also turned me on to lots of other great music that I wouldn't have come across as a 14 year old kid from Virginia.
Real Nighttime might be my favorite GT album. And “24” might be my favorite GT song.
an artist like Scott Miller is always far ahead of the audience.
We miss you Scott and Gil.
This is wonderful! I love the video. I recently completed my Game Theory/Loud Family collection with the amazing FROM RITUAL TO ROMANCE, and I've bought every Omnivore vinyl re-issue. Scott Miller was a musical genius. I know that word gets thrown around too often, but Scott was different from any singer-songwriter that I had encountered (or ever will). Scott Miller pumped out the pop hooks like a madman, and had a truly extraordinary gift for lyrics. Miller never failed to blow my mind with each and every album that he released. Scott also had a great ear for talent, and I have great love for each and every person who has ever contributed to Scott's music. There's nary a bad nut among the lot! I'll stop gushing about SM now, but seeing this video for the first time got me stoked.
Miss Scott ❤
If anyone wanted a quick taste of what GT were all about then I'd play them this. Perhaps their finest rocker. Great riff and very cool lyric.
Holy shit! What a fantastic surprise! Back then, and definitely now! Thank you!!
If you haven’t heard it, check out the song “Scott Millar Said” by Irish band The Revenants. It’s a masterpiece.
Arguably GT's finest rocker. Some days it's even my favourite GT song of all. Certainly a good one to play to potential new initiates.
Scott is the Guitar Gangsta.
Loved this album when it came out, and had the good fortune to see this lineup on tour. Scott and Game Theory remain peerless, timeless.
He really loved that shirt. 🙂
brilliant crafty
No Game Theory, no Big Star, but we got Smiley Virus? Think it's time to pack it in.
I was thinking the same thing.
Great vid. The analog Nan Becker face distortion is a real treat.
Nan isn’t in this. That’s Shelley LaFreniere.
oops. Thanks ILT
Insert matpat joke here
That Matthew Modine singing?
Yeah, not him. That's Scott Miller, as in this guy: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Miller_(pop_musician). Sure, I see the resemblance, now that you mention it.
Is it just me - doesn´t Mr. Miller even look like LX Chilton?
