    I'm very mad about it being a seventh film. One through six should've been the only thing and the rest in the star wars universe was for the EU. Disney are just hungry for money.

    The reason why I love ESB was because it was dark. Also for the soundtrack too. And I agree with what you said at the end. It's like any publicity is good publicity.
    I just had to make a video responding to some more weak arguments made by casual fans. I may have kind of repeated some things you said already, but it really gets frustrating, annoying and very repetitive to hear the same crap over and over again about "continuity" and "Just keep the Thrawn series."

      ***** Hello! First off, it's important to remember that casual Star Wars fans know little to nothing about the EU in the first place. This guy sounds like one of them. Here's a few I can think of off the top of my head.
      Coruscant was named by Timothy Zahn in Heir to the Empire. Lucas loved the name so much he used it in the films.
      Maul's double-bladed lightsaber was an invention of Kevin J Anderson's Jedi Academy series, of which George thought was a wonderful idea and used it in Phantom Menace.
      Aayla Secura from the comic books was included in Episode 3 when Lucas saw her on the cover of a book and wanted to include her in the film. Even her Jedi Master Quinlan Vos was mentioned in the film too.

We INVESTED in this universe which gave momentum to the backers who supported the prequels and now these. They KNEW people were going to buy in because we were already buying into the EU.

    Thanks for the video. I like your comment that talking about the EU is what is keeping it alive at this point. I think the goal of getting a response and hopefully a positive response to continuing the now dubbed Legends timeline is a great idea. The fact is we don't know what the new movies will be like. We don't. They might be great! But the EU is what we grew up with and it has made Star Wars what it is today which is much more than a set of 6 movies. I believe many of the EU haters are just finding it easier to part ways with the EU by turning their backs on it. It's the lazy way out and it's more popular. Instead of standing up to changes it's easier to just take it. I appreciate that you have taken a stand.

    The old EU was never taken away from you. Behind you you have an entire bookshelf full of EU books. You can still enjoy them. Times have passed, the company changed hands, and SW hardcores are a minuscule minority. A multi-national corporation like Disney isn't going to cater to such a small number of people if it conflicts with their plans for their property. It's simple business management. Lucas may have cared for the EU, but it's no longer considered official cannon. These stories that have fueled your love of SW are just a few feet away from you. It's not as if Disney's going around gestapo style and burning them. Maybe it's time for you guys to mature a bit.

      Your bullying tactics may have worked on the playground my friend but this is real life. Here, folks are welcome to fight for the things they love, whether it's hobbies, sports, politics or Expanded Universes.
      No one's asking you to sing the EU's praises, just respect for the things we loved best about the franchise.

    • @tropicjohnny360
      @tropicjohnny360 Před 10 lety +2

      Matt wilkins One of my favorite films is Waterworld, a movie that obviously has a very small following. If I, and a couple friends, were to start sending mail, calling Universal Studios, and uploading videos on CZcams pleading for them to make a sequel it just won't happen. I can whine all day about it, attempt to barter with this deity or that, or just accept that there won't be any more Waterworld films. Which of those choices is the adult one?
      There is always a chance that they'll continue producing some Legends material here and there, and the EU has already had a major impact on the franchise. We've had 30+ years of EU material, it's had a good run. What more could you ask for? There's always the chance that the new stuff will surpass the old in quality, not a certainty but definitely a possibility.
      Nobody, especially me, is saying that you can't fight for what you want, but unless you can convince a corporation the size of Disney that continuing Legends is a sound, profitable, venture there are little chances of it happening. Companies like that just don't care about the fanbase all that much, especially the hardcores within that fanbase. As bad as it sounds.
      Calling me a bully makes you a bit of a hypocrite as you seem to attack those who don't fervently agree with you. Most people, including myself, considered the EU as good supplemental material. It's there if you want it, but not necessary to enjoy the franchise.
