  • This solo dance tells the story of Gathotkoco, a character from the Mahabharata epic. He is a knight-handsome, robust, dashing, extraordinary powerful, and able to fly. He is in charge of maintaining security of the state. He is stunned by the beauty of Goddess Pergiwo, daughter of Arjuno, and falls in love with her. However, Arjuno does not accept this development. In despair, Gathutkoco commits suicide by dropping from the sky. His body shatters into pieces; fortunately, Krishna is available to bring him back to life.
Gathutkoco Gandrung illustrates the distinctly male style of dance, while also including inner nuances such as grief, happiness, and love. The dancer must be able to incorporate all of these dimensions into his performance
    Dancer: Baghawan Ciptoning
