The catfish roommate story is SO horrific. One specific thought didn’t leave my mind for the entire video: If they were long distance online dating for 5 YEARS there has definitely been sexting etc. If I were OP I would have been sitting there with this man thinking „I’ve never met this guy and he’s touched himself thinking about my face and body for the last 5 years“. That feels so uncomfortable and violating, I can’t.
Also, that guy is dumb as hell and should have seen it coming. You’re in an online relationship for FIVE YEARS and you never once video chatted? Like a 5 year long relationship and you‘ve only seen pictures. Seems kinda dumb on his part.

I do agree that this guy may be in love with his homie, but it reads as kinda rude to minimize his feelings about his friend. While yes the friend didn’t die of course and he will be able to talk to them, it can be very difficult to lose that closeness with someone who was so close. I’m male and pansexual and have a male best friend who I’ve known for over a decade, and yeah if he moved I would probably grieve even though I have no romantic interest in him. This kind of assumption makes it hard for people to have platonic friends without people making assumptions. Isn’t it a rude assumption to assume two people are in love, and force that viewpoint on others.

regarding the tattoo story: as someone who moved 7 hours away from all their friends and most of our communication stopped (bc we had always just hung in person not rly texted much), grieving friendships is certainly real and i don’t wanna undermine that. it’s painful. HOWEVER, there’s def so much more going on with that guy lmao. he def had at least an unhealthy dependency bond with him hahah
yeah ngl i have definitely cried over friends moving away bc not only will we obviously grow apart at least a bit but also it makes maintaining the friendship way harder, i don’t tend to text people without reason so when ppl live farther away i have less reasons to contact them. i’ve even sobbed over friendships that weren’t even over but had just gotten distant, that’s more of a platonic love tho which doesn’t sound like what that dude had based off the song lyrics.

No for real, I think most people react that way. I remember a friend moving away when I was like 14, it was devastating because I literally lost a good friend. I think I met her once after that and then our friendship just faded away, and that was sad. Buuut this guy definitely has some issues and I 100% understand why the wife is pissed.

Yeah I felt like the intentional repetition of 'together' was because he knows he thinks that's women's work but doesn't want the internet to hand him accountability for it

Hard to say. I think she had to like her enough to admire her and recognize that she had the life that Maggie beleived was more attractive than her own, if that made sense. If Criminal Minds has taught me anything (yes, I beleive that with thse people, that's a fair reference point), it's that the human psyche is weird. I disagree, though given her mental state, "like" and "dislike" are kinda...muddy. But if she didn't like Summer, there's easier ways to catfish rather than using a person you know. So yeah, at the very least, she clearly admires her. That catfishing story is insane. Not only did Maggie lead some poor guy on for 5 years, but by using her friends photos she was putting her in danger. It's a good job that when Adam turned up at their flat that is was a nice and understanding guy. It could've gone very badly.

During my sister's wedding when the officiator asked the whole if anyone has any reason these two shouldn't be married thing our dad stood up and unrolled like a receipt paper roll across the floor and said some shit like "How much time we got I have a few" and it was absolutely hilarious. I think the right jokes with the right people during a wedding ceremony are perfectly okay and make life long cherished moments.
It all just comes down to making sure that everyone is on the same page as to what’s happening at the wedding. Jokes like this can be funny if it’s what the couple want, as was clearly the case here (and for that reason, your dad’s a legend). It’s just a shame that in the wedding story in the vid, the groom clearly went against the bride’s wishes just to have the spotlight all to himself.

I swear. We have a saying in my country "come to me, trials, or I'll come to you" which means when problems come to you out of nowhere and it perfectly applies here. I've known other ND people who have had shown those traits to a very high degree, so that's what I'm getting from that story.
Being neurodivergent doesn't entail being that type of a-hole to a sick person. Not buying it. I'm on the spectrum and have friends who are too, so believe me when I say this, he is just a straight up douche.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I’m not going to say that that IS what’s happening, but as an autistic person (who does not need a routine), many autistic people need routines and when their partners get sick that throws off their routine and can throw their whole life into chaos. If that’s the case, him continuously needing that wouldn’t be so bad, but there’s got to be some kind of failsafe for a situation like that. They should have discussed what happens when she isn’t able to stick to the routine and if he can’t deal with that then… well, fuck, I don’t have an answer because he doesn’t deserve to be abandoned for his neurodivergence but she really can’t be expected to be his caretaker if they haven’t been dating for very long, that’s a huge commitment. Ouch, him being ND really complicates that

Nah, it just gives me “Growing up as a boy in a society that sends kids to school with a near-lethal fever” vibes. I was constantly told to do my daily business regardless of how sick I was, then when I became an adult I started noticing how many adults use literally any excuse they can get not to fulfil their obligations.
I kinda understand where the guy was coming from in the tattoo story. I recently learned that sometimes our brains can't process change or very stressful situations, so you start to experience symptoms related to grief. It would make sense that going from a stable and very connected friendship to almost no connection at all could cause a lot of stress and worry about the relationship lasting. He could be, in a way, grieving the friendship he had before because it may never be the same. Although, I do think the wife may have some reason to be worried, since there could be other things going on that weren't mentioned (since it's just a reddit post).
While fair, I think the tattoo quoting an explicitly romantic song is the main point of concern for the man's wife
That second story, with the guy who's friend moved away, I kind of wonder if there are some important details missing.
If this guys friend had helped him through some difficult times in the past, if he's been a rock him for many years, he could really be struggling to deal with a sense of loneliness or abandonment. They were friends as teens, that time can be very hard for people.

My husband and I dj weddings and we've definitely seen some interesting things. One of my faves was at a reception. Best man got up to make his speech, got the mic and everyone's attention. He said, " They say the best man speech should be as long as the groom can last in bed." Puts the mic down and walks off 😂😂.

I live in Canada. My husband was deported to Australia a year after we got married. Depending on the time of year, that is a 16-18 hour time difference. Between the Panama and visa stuff, we’ve only seen each other once in 5 years. And I don’t think I took my literal husband being on the literal other side of the world as hard as this dude took his friend moving away.

I always love hearing Shayne's takes on these stories. He's a great host and he's very level headed. He can see both perspectives- even if someone's clearly the asshole he can still dissect their situation and play devil's advocate to speak on their side of the story. I happen to agree with Shayne a lot on these, and I love seeing how the different guests react to these insane stories as well!

My opinion on the LDR guy, he DID tell her ahead of time. He stated that he had told her throughout the relationship that if he got accepted overseas, he was going. She already knew his plan when they started dating. She wasnt actually blindsided here, she just hoped it wouldn’t happen

I think it's a NAH situation. They want different things in a relationship, and aren't communicating enough. She needs to find someone that wants to marry, he needs to find someone that is okay in keeping a distance and taking it slow.

Held off watching this till I had the time to enjoy it. No regrets, I’m in absolute bits over this. This is such a good series: Shayne is such a great host, and every pairing has worked beautifully together. With this, Courtney and Angela have suddenly emerged as an iconic duo; they’re so in-synch, and you could pause or rewind this video so many times just to bask in their hilarious reactions. Angela’s “Would a part of you be flattered?” during the catfishing story is the definition of “She’s out of line, but she’s right!” I’m really looking forward to watching the other Courtney/Angela vid on the channel.
Deffo want more episodes of this series - it always leaves me happy and energised.
The Duolingo one is pretty simple and I think they were overthinking it by the end. The girl just thought he lost interest in her and tried to come up with a way to break away, she was under the wrong impression and when things got cleared up she apologized. Seems fine and I don't think you can judge this one weird blip on their relationship on how they will be in the future and say they shouldn't date. That seems like a big leap for such a minor thing.
It is so nice that Shayne cleared it up that he thinks wedding ceremonies are not a place for jokes and should be held till the reception bc I was getting a vibe that he would be the one making a joke in the middle of his wedding 😅 so this makes him seems so sincere and sweet

The spanx story reminded me of the guy at the flea market that told me I should get anti-wrinkle cream for my girlfriend. I basically said, "Dude, are you f-ing nuts? You never get a woman things like face creams, vacuums, makeup etc., unless they specifically ask for them."
when angela mentioned the being flattered part it made me laugh because i actually had someone use my pictures to catfish people on tinder. i was in high school when it happened and had to get tinder customer support to remove my photos completely because i was only 15 when someone used my pictures. the way i found out was that someone dmed me on instagram asking why i was ghosting them. i was shocked and it was crazy that someone was catfishing people using my face and i was kinda traumatized because the person who reached out tried getting close to me because i was the face in the photos. lookings back at it now i thinks its a funny/crazy story and was flattered that someone thought i was attractive enough to use my photos to catfish someone akljdalksdj

The Med School one: I think it really depends on the person/people. If my partner came to me like "I finally got an offer and I took it immediately!" I'd be completely supportive and actually would be confused if they wanted to discuss with me first before accepting - I would be like "don't waste your time talking to me, accept it asap!". But I can understand why some people in a relationship want to discuss every single big decision whether it concerns just one or both of them.
A committed love wants the best for BOTH of their futures……do not forget he already had been trying but not being accepted in a program….
The deal was known, once he got accepted he was going out of country to med school. I do not blame her for ending it. a whole med degree in another country in your 20s so few relationships would survive that. but to put it on him answering an email is silly this would have ended either way.
