Kent Survival yup was about to say it’s AD not BC. But what a great place. Lovely views!
What a beautiful site! Very nice video and I enjoyed your music selection as well. Your videos are so peaceful and I love how you put them together. Thanks Andy ♥️
I love your exploration videos.. they're as great as the Bushcraft and get to learn a lot from them.. thanks for sharing
I absolutely love the videos you do at old ruins and historic sites.
Great vid, great history and fingers crossed for many more :) ....... p.s i'm sure you meant AD and not BC lol
CJ Hobby Fly ...... I think you're right, but we'll forgive him 👨🎓👩🎓👍9 out of 10 for the history exam
Doh.. knew Id do that, I think its because I did 2 takes on that one haha, thanks for watching
Another winner Andy + Tom. Always full of interesting facts, always looking forward to your next vids and always a double thumbs up to the both of you, cheers guys! Take care, Steve.
Thank you Steve, much appreciated buddy
Awesome video Kent! What an epic place to camp. Thanks for sharing
Thank you :) good to mix it up a bit
Awesome guys.... this is exactly why I miss England!
you don't see things like this in many other places for sure, great place :)
another great video brother. shot nicely and it is very clear as if you're there. i love historical monuments and its structures, so much stories behind it. thanks for the history lesson and taking us along for this "stealth camp". that was great andy. =)
Thanks buddy, much appreciated, Im loving doing these 'historical' camps, so much to show in Kent and makes a change from the bushcraft :)
Great video Andy, I live just along the coast near Birchington, I have camped many times just along a bit from the towers where there's a big expanse of grass, really nice place thanks for what you do 👍
Amazing place to spend the night I couldn't go alone either man. Keep the great content coming good sir and hello from Dallas, Texas USA
That brings back memories I was stationed down the road at RAF Manston
What a beautiful site. Thanks for sharing!
It certainly is, thank you for watching
Great video again and a great spot too.
Thank you very much, and yes, loverly spot indeed
Looks like a great location so close to the sea and in a historical setting makes a change from woodland camping thanks for sharing ♠
Thanks for watching Norman, I do like to mix it up a bit haha :)
Great video" loving the music too:)
Thanks Candice :) looking forward to seeing Toms half of the story
I always enjoy your video's and have been subscribed for quite a while which is why I'm so surprised I've never seen this video before. This one is especially close to my heart as I grew up in Herne bay which you'll know is about 1 mile from Reculver. It's that close that we locals always view Reculver as a part of Herne bay itself. I've often viewed that exact spot you pitched on and considered spending a night there. I have the Phoxx II and as you've shown it fits lovely in there. Might just go there now and have a night.
I used to play in those towers as a boy in the 80's as the doors used to be open and you could freely walk about inside the towers. The council had to close them in the early 90's as the addicts were starting to use them and were leaving them in a dangerous state. Such a shame. The river you walk along at the end of the video is a part of the Wantsum and I now fish along their regularly.
Keep up the good work Andy. Maybe i'll see you on a wild camp sometime.
Super cool dude, inspired me into some camps I thought were not possible! Keep you posted, atb Kev
Thanks Kev. good to hear :) the worst that can happen is getting moved along :)
Great historic spot! Awesome! Thanks!
Thanks buddy :)
Brilliant video nice day for filming nice and peaceful quiet place for one night camping
Thank you Andrew, much appreciated :)
What a lovely peaceful camp X Great location too X Take Care X
Thank you Jennifer :)
Really enjoyed that,,,, really nice chilled out camp,,, and a nice little wander to cap it all off,,, atb Mike
Thanks mate :) good to do something a bit different now and again :)
Nice one mate well done. Memorable weekend. I'm editing mine today. Should be ready by the weekend hopefully. Nice shots you got. Thanks for inviting us along.
Was a great camp mate, thanks for joining me and keeping the ghosts at bay haha, look forward to yours, ill link it when its up.
Kent Survival cheers pal. I've had a few people subscribe from you off the back of this.
nice one :)
I enjoyed the little history piece and your camp site.
Thank you Craig
hey Andy great little short vid, nice to see you in a completely different scenario with kit needed only for that, just goes to show the versatility of wildcamping 👍👍👍👍 atb WMM
Thank you Moose :) yeah, its a completely different kettle of fish to the bushcraft but I like to mix it up :)
Another great video Andy.
Thanks Art :)
Great video bro
That is one of the coolest stealth camp spots I have seen and wish we had something like that here in the states to enjoy. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks buddy, much appreciated, The states has some great outdoors though which I am envious of haha, I went to st Augustine in Florida a while back.. had some great history, almost felt like being in back Europe, you definitely have some interesting history of your own :)
Great vid Andy mate and another cool place for a wild camp. I will look out for Toms vid to see how he got on with his new bivvy. Thanks for sharing bud. Atb Sconja 👍
Thanks Sconja. was definitely something different.. Im liking these 'Historical' camps.. few more in the planning stages. ATB - Andy
I live just up the road in Herne Bay Andy..when i was a kid in the early 70s the towers were always open so you could walk to the top..sadly vandels forced them to close the doors for good.
I would have popped over to see you....the power of stealth!
Thats cool, I see they still have a trapdoor on one of the towers and what I assume is a spiral stone staircase with a metal door so I guess they still have access when they need to, would be cool to get up there.. I popped to hearne bay for fuel after haha, thanks mate
They open the doors sometimes for visitors day..great views ..narrow stairs and then wooden stairs at the top...Thats a good little cafe on the corner just near the pub.
ill keep my ear to the ground thanks
Even bashed by time and the elements, still an impressive structure.
Great video guys
Thank you very much :)
Thanks for sharing mate interesting place 😁👍
cheers Carl :)
Interesting place for a camp, nice one lads 👍🏻🇬🇧
Thanks mate, another ticked off the list :)
Proper little camp mate, lovely setting to wake up too. Atb, Trev
Thanks Trev, its was indeed, I was surprised to get in as close as we did, super stealthy haha
Awesome place for your over night stealth camp, Andy. Let's hope that with the clocks going on an hour that it's a sign for Spring and better weather to come. I agree with what you say about keeping campsites clean and tidy, if only the rest of the countryside was treated the same respectful way, but we see many places that would put a local council dump to shame. Great video and very enjoyable. Take care...
Hi John, well, its definitely spring because the showers are here, don't think its stopped raining since this camp haha, but having the extra light is going to be good for morale on the solo camps :)
Nice camp and history. I wouldn't figure you could camp there..
Thanks :) you're not supposed to but if you leave no trace I see no harm :)
It looks so much fun.id love that.
Its a great spot :) Thanks for watching
Did you know Barnes Wallis tested the bouncing bomb just off the coast at Reculver? Over the years there have been several located when the tide has gone out.
Hey buddy. loved the video... And a mention from Joe Robinet on his video today.. Ba Bam son .lol... I wonder if he got the spork we did for him haha..... Cheers Kev.
Thanks Kev :) yeah.. I just saw that video tonight, amazing to have Joe watch my videos with so many good channels out there. ATB - Andy
Andy must be doing the right thing mate. Keep it up. I thinks as Joe said be yourself and don't perform.
Well done fella.
Andy comes across as a genuine nice bloke and hopefully will grow his viewership.
Awesome site.
Your photography is improving !
Thank you Claire
I sought if come across your channel by accident low and behold I've watched all your videos hi 5 bro keep on rolling
Thank you for watching :) much appreciated.
Your a nice man. Keep it up pal 👌
Thank you Andrew :) I will do
One of my favourite places :)
me too :) thanks for watching
Nice spot Andy - the towers featured on something I half watched on ‘tele the other day - one show? Can’t remember!! Look really cool though and a nice bit of history! Thanks for sharing mate, Atb, Simon.
Hi Simon, thanks. another person commented on that, I watched it on player :) quite a coincidence. I've sent you a PM by the way mate, I know yt isn't very good at notifying messages.
Kent Survival - Cheers Andy, got it, sent you a reply - I’ve had trouble with yt messages not sending from my end, so if you don’t get it through let me know. 👍
Another great video thank you Andy Addicted 2024
All that history there. Some day I plan to visit.
Its a loverly place :)
Great spot for a camp. 👍
abe frohman ...... I'm dyslexic, I read it as 'Great spot for a crap'😂
Thanks Abe.. Chris.. thankfully didn't need one haha
Nicely done. I like the exploring and camping out in ruins angle you've included in the channel, also nice to see a ruin that hasn't been vandalised with graffiti! Did you say the church was built in 669 bc to see who was paying attention?Coz I want a house point if ya did. All the best mate.
Hi, I did say BC but I meant AD.. doh haha, thanks for watching buddy
That looked fun Andy. On your recommendation I will check out your friend Tom. He probably won't replace you in my viewing schedule but I could do with more stuff to watch. It looked like a nice trip you two had there anyway
Thank you Conrad, much appreciated mate. Tom does a ton of wild camping and adds in a lot of history too :)
cool location...I can't believe you were able to camp that close without visitors hovering around you guys in the morn! 😃
Its a very remote place and you do get lots of mainly dog walkers this time of your
The grass is keep short by all the rabbits that live there on other side of bank right near the pub (King Etherbet) which serves really good food
If you watch the dambusters film you will get a quick glimpse of reculver towers in that film as thats were they did the testing of the bombs
The acutal towers have one solid wooden door which is locked most ot the time and they open them once a year
Good place for foraging from the beach if your very lucky you will find wild oysters also popular with fishing
Thank you... There was also a drone in the morning whilst we packed up.. buzzing around the towers haha
For a moment i thought you guys were going to camp out inside one of the towers, looks like they would be really warm to sleep in for the night. Cool video :)
That definitely would have been cool :) Thanks for watching
They're locked. Would've been good views though.
Beautiful area
It is indeed, thank you for watching Steve
That was a cool idea, glad you didn't get moaned at, I'll go check out Tom's page
Cheers mate, by evening the place was empty, got exactly where we wanted to :p
Nice spot lads 👍
Cheers mate, was great to get so close :)
Your content is better than those bigger youtubers these days
Thank you Scrooge, much appreciated, thats pretty high praise :)
My Manor! Great.
Thank you :) great place
I hope the Reculver ghosts behaved themselves in the night. Come back soon man!
Nice camp guys , in late and away early atb Dave
Thank you :) super stealthy.. parts from the 3 early risers that saw us haha.. also got on someones drone footage whilst packing away :p
You remind me of my friend Jed. I don't get to see him much. But I love your channel my friend.
Thank you very much :)
Good little video looks a bit eerie
Thanks mate, the sounds of the crashing waves echoing around the ruins as I went to sleep were definitely eerie haha
You know that place is haunted right? The local folk law is that back in the Roman times a bunch of babies where murdered there and apparently, you can hear them crying at night. Spent a night there once with a local (im local myself) ghost hunting group and it was a very creepy night.
well there was some spooky noises with the waves echoing around the ruins but I didn't see anything ;) thanks for watching
Love all your videos but this one in particular. What made this video extra special was the music. Very English music it was.
Thank you :) its a break backdrop to have for a video
Nice spot bud.
Thank you mate :)
Pucker mate...I've camped there a few times many years ago...is the pub still there?
Looks like a chilled camp out 👍
ah cool, so many great spots along the coast there as well. Yeah, we ate in the pub and had some loverly grub, cheers for watching mate
The night light on St. Mary's?
Looks awesome.
Thanks, a great place, and looks amazing lit up, didn't notice when the light went out as we were the other side, guessing it was around midnight.
I ride my bike up there all the time
Never knew you could camp there.
Whitstable-bushcraft
well, you're not supposed to haha, but I don't see the harm if you set up late, pack up early and leave no trace :)
Nice camp Andy I liked the look of Toms bivvi will have to check it out. Cheers Karl
Thanks Karl, think he had a nice warm night too, be good to see his half of the story :)
I slept on that fort over 40 yrs ago spent a while fishing but no luck, didn’t hear or see any ghosts
Nice just chilling near the wall. A reasonable spot for an over nighter. Very interesting history - Roman and Christian combined as well as a navigation aid. Did you notice the camera go out of focus when you mentioned hearing voices czcams.com/video/qz6gu3Qgbig/video.html ghostly goings on maybe. Then again you might have meant real human voices. Well, good going - an early morning walk to. All the best. Mark.
haha, the ghosts don't want me to talk about them :p it was a bit odd them people turning up before sunrise, especially with the clocks changing that night. Thanks for watching buddy :)
You should do the Dover tunnels Andy 😊
Hi Heather, Ive done a bit of exploring around Dover, sounds like an idea for sure, would like to get back down there. Thanks for watching
Kent Survival where are you based? Kent is a perfect place for doing what you do! There’s lots of old war time tunnels, they’re quite spooky!
im NW Kent, but used to do a lot of 'Urbexing' as they now call it haha, enjoying going back to some places I visited many moons ago :)
lovely spot! any ghosts?
haha, not this time but the sound of the waves crashing echoing around the ruins almost sounded like voices as I went to sleep.. bit creepy, thanks for watching Geoff
Can someone please tell me where I can find those cadbury hot chocolate packets in the US?
Went to the pub for dinner? OK iv'e done that 101 times when cycle camping in my younger years.
nice location and interesting bit of history.
Are you and 'fell wanderer' in competition camping in historical spots this month?
haha, pub dinner then camp was a new one for me, I liked it :p I've only seen a couple of Fells videos, does he do historical sites too? I have a few more planned already.
Yours and his came out on the same day. remarkably similar theme.
he didn't wimp out and go to the pub though.
Kent survival are you sure you did not have a motorohome hidden some were as well ? lol
haha, everyone ganging up on me aye! ;) I regret nothing... burger and chips all the way haha
Do not blame you for having food in the King Etherbert as they always do very nice food same with cafe when its open in summer season
Good spot! Did the pub make you breakfast? :-)
haha, no, they didn't open for breakfast, kind of skipped it but I ate well when I got home :) Thanks for watching
I believe at that time the deceased were buried vertically, the original dead standing
Wouldn't have been my choice, but pro-hobo is that. Hats off to you both.
Thanks buddy :) definitely a few more of these coming, mixing it up a bit
For sure it's different! Look forward to more of your stuff. I don't sub or watch many channels but your's is a quality one. Keep it up.
Was it uploaded in a Harry u splet riuns wrung ?
Thanks Roy, just missed the typo
👍
👏👏👏❗️leave no mess or damage & take only photos, video and memories. See? If no harm's done, who really gives a monkeys if you fellahs were camping 'on the fly'? 😎👍
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Have you just coined a new expression? "I'll/it'll be ready in a Kentish second!"
haha, Im going to have to re-watch now :p - I try to ignore what I say when editing haha
Kent Survival Wasn't so much what you said as the length of the second:) Have a good 'un. Ps: good spot for a wild.camp.
🤗
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks buddy
when will a collaboration between you and carlisle195 happen???
Love johns videos, It would be an honour, he is very far away though haha :)
oooooo
B.C .. your kidding me..
659 B,C, Well I don't know about that, It's Ano Domini, But I will go back to the video, Because I'm interested in that Church. The visitors you had in the morning, They probably thought you had been dooing sum night digging, Or holding a ritchul, May be smuggling Brandy from La Fronch, Then they would want their share. Not much go's in those places with out the locals knowing. They most likely decided that you had just come out of jail, And were sleeping rough. You could have pute white bed sheets over your heads, Then they would have gone home and locked all the doors. So what's your next plan. Over.
Hi Jack haha, they were definitely early risers, before light and the night the clocks changed, gave me a spook haha. and yes, I missed that in editing when I mis spoke.. doh, It took my 3 takes as well, probably said AD in the others ones haha, As for the next one, im not sure yet, various camps planned if it ever stops raining and a couple will be this 'historical' theme for sure.
Kent Survival, Yo Kent, When you used those mag lightes on the church, For your photography the whole country side could have seen it, The home guard would have been alerted, Did they have any weapons with them, Like pitchforks or any other lethal farm tools, So much for stealth camping, You need a little more training. Don't give up your drill instructor will guide you. Over.
haha, my little torch didn't do much compared to the massive lights the trust use to light the front of the towers :p though there was a drone hovering above us in the morning whilst packing up.. think Tom got that on his video.. maybe they were spying.
Kent Survival, I did think you had one of those meger mag light's, So the Trust does the elimination, Impressive, And you get a merit point. Over.
Love Reculver, it’s a shame they added the extra car park and playground though, I always enjoyed going when no one else was there!
I do most of my bushcraft at clowes wood's if you ever wanted to come camping.
If you do just message me on instagram whitstable-bushcraft
Thanks Tommy, - im not that local, im on your instagram now though, great stuff mate, thanks for the offer, ill bear it in mind
How wonderful it must be to live in a land with so much history! Are you near other Roman ruins?
