    Gel-X or any gel extensions go cloudy if you go over them with alcohol so use acetone instead unless you plan on painting over the whole nail. Once it goes cloudy it's hard to make clear again but you can try to buff and go over it with acetone. Generally as soon as you attach the tips cover the underside with top gel to prevent the alcohol from clouding the gel extensions.

    I love the texture look for the gold chrome it make it look like gold bars but in a different color I would prefer the smooth flat look as well. Your set came out so beautiful and neat. This definitely made me want to give this a try.

    Beautiful, clean job! I find what works best for me is: buff the nail, draw the smile line in non-wipe top coat, cure 30 sec., chrome powder, cure rest of the way, carefully dust off chrome from rest of the nail, top coat over the whole nail, cure.

      Great tip! I also do this if I want to the shade of chrome to be more subtle. Black or white gels can sometimes make the chrome pop a little too much x

    Im going to try applying the top coat over the chrome with a stamper tool. It makes great smile lines, but I haven't yet seen anyone do this.

      @@Zebrafroschify The stamper tool works great...but, it tends to apply the product a bit thickly. A bit of touch-up with a brush to perfect the corners and also to take the thickness of the top coat down a bit is sometimes required. But I also noticed chipping within a week or so. Hmmmm....it still seems to be best to brush it on by hand, cure, and then remove excess chrome powder with alcohol. Whatever I do, I think this look is just wonderful and it's worth the effort.

    • @Nikkyia
      @Nikkyia Před 2 lety +8

      I found a fix for that. Try adding builder gel on top of the colored gel as the next to last step. This makes it smooth enough to conceal the bump before you add the top coat. Complete game changer!

    wow. I like both for diff applications. The original way looks “gold plated” so it could work well when youre playing with textures or organic designs & u want less perfect mirror finish. Whereas the new version without the art gel is a seamless look, it would go well with more typical/clean/simple designs were u wants the contrast to Just be between the base color & chrome finish.
    The new way also seems harder on the eyes to do, at least for me and as you said is harder to fix mistakes with without starting ovee

    Hi they look really good! Did you use 2 coats of the chrome ? Also do you ever get peeling of the chrome after a few days?

    • @memnailss
      @memnailss  Před rokem

      Thank you! I used one coat to keep it flat but you can always do two. I have experienced this and it mostly comes down to residue pigment still on your nail surface - it can affect the adhesion of your topcoat and cause it to separate/chip. I sometimes get around this by using a makeup sponge to go over the whole nail, after dusting away but before top coating. Hope that helps :)

    • @memnailss
      @memnailss  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for watching!!
      It depends on the formula of your topcoat, sometimes you might need to go in with a layer of base coat before topcoat if that’s happening, as the topcoat may need something to grip to.
      If I’m using gel-x I generally don’t need to cap the ends, but I will do when applying gel to my natural nails. Hope that helps ✨
