"getting forked irl, not always the worst thing"
International Master Levy Rosman
Levi what you do to excite interest in chess is incomparable. The mixture of charisma, humor, relatability and teaching talent makes you unique. Appreciate a lot.
"I think that was his only win of the day"
Why is it that whenever Alireza beats Magnus it seems to curse him?
Well, to beat the Boss you have to use all of your mana, items and equipment.
That often leaves you weak and a random enemy might be able to wreck you
@@johnnyperozo2987 true
Magnus messing around and loses? Oh well.
Maybe overconfidence. Happens with me alot 😂
It drains him?
"now again you can take 3 different pawns, which one are you gonna take? 'course you're gonna take neither of them!" -Levi
Outstanding presentation. I've been a chess fan and player since watching Shelby Lyman's commentary on the 1972 Fischer-Spassky match, but never heard Hook, Clearance, or Disconnect used in this context. Great explanations - well done.
I Love how Magnus saw this checkmate and was like : yeah thats gotta be nice lets give it to him
"Getting forked irl isn't the worst thing"
Definition of forked:
"When you buy 4 packs of 500 forks and then go to somebody's house who you hate at night. Then, you put all of the forks into the ground with the handle out. When the person/people wake up, they will have 2000 forks in their front yard that they must go pick out - one-by-one - by hand."
How important is it that they come in bags of 500
Imagine being so good at chess that people want to see you lose games.
That phenomenon is everywhere. People tuned in to see Floyd Mayweather lose, or Hamilton. It's a long list

I've just recently been learning the Modern variation of the Scandinavian. Any thoughts on which is better between the Moderns and main line? I feel like the Modern is a bit better for development and maneuverability. But I'm a low Elo player.. so what do I know
Even I’ve been playing the modern. It’s pretty good, and I feel better than queen takes d5 as that’s just stupid at any non 700 and non gm level. I would urge u to learn what to do in case the opponent does something nonsensical as it happens a lot
Wdym which line?. White can do and outstanding amount of moves after Nf6. They can do d4, Nc3, Nf3.
I mean.. between the main line (QxD5...) and the Modern line (Nf6...) Of the Scandinavian Defense. Unless they are both absolutely even, one is probably generally better to play. So, I was asking, in general, especially at lower ratings, which one would be better to focus studies on.
@@AdmiralFerret I prefer Nf6. Because the scandi can be hit with tricks like Ne5. The modern is more solid in my opinion. I play the Caro or match with e5
I initially used to play traditinal variation in when i was 1100.....but current elo(1560) now i play modern variant with gambit way(namely icelandic gambit)........in my option modern will give u more fluid option than traditional one....u can get aggrasive play in modern...which is kind of tough in traditinal variant...u can improve ur sandinavian opening by adding more and more layer little by little....
This was thrilling from start to finish. The way you elegantly break it down is great. Thanks
The masvidal with the 3 piece and a soda line made me LOL
dude, you're brilliant. Just started playing chess earlier this year. Played about 450 games and still feel like a total beginner (despite rising rating). What I've been looking for is somebody who explains in this detail. Awesome, thank you. I think you are going to help me improve my game in no time.

Very powerful finish glad to see alireza playing top chess again
Slide out of there like Masvidal after the 3 piece and the soda 😂😂😂
I love that you’re an MMA fan too
Clicked for violent chess, stayed for Levy casually tossing shade at Seaworld
I feel like Carlsen must've really enjoyed this game. He played a rare opening at the super GM level looking for a novelty and Firouzja was up to the task. Through their play over the board they debated the strengths and weaknesses of the novelty. I think Magnus offered the king and checkmate as a sign of respect and because it led to a beautiful checkmate, with the queen behind the king - the queen being the first major piece to attack in the Scandinavian.
I have a feeling he'll just brush off this game as too many poor moves to be taken too seriously. At some point he was ahead by enough of a margin that in classical he would have most likely prevailed. Point is, both did not play this game up to their respective strengths.
It's really cool that he allowed the checkmate and didn't resign 🙃
I love how I know that when I wake up there will be an upload from gotham
Pawn waves ~~~~~~~~ that scandinavian queen takes line is epic, props to magnus for giving it light and also not resigning before checkmate
Few more weeks and gotham chess will be the most subscribed chess channel, all the power to you levy
It's important to see Alireza winning over Magnus, put some confidence in his mindset
Masvidal "3 piece and a soda" haha... didn't see that reference coming.
Never thought of the Scandinavian as being so sharp
Rare to see a Carlsen loss via actual mate. Typically resignations are more often seen for GMs.
It kind of surprised me to be honest. I have to doubt he didn't see the mate coming. But it's not uncommon to miss a pawn, when there's this much tension on pieces with a handful of forced checkmates incoming.
Agadmator just posted the game! Fierce competitor you've got 🙂Love you levy❤
Always refreshing to see magnus out of his end game comfort. Awesome game

Can you please do recaps everyday after the games? Your channel is the best way to keep up with what’s happening in chess.
Ive noticed magnus going for complex attacking chess more than his usual style. They have to discourage and beat him at all costs, if this man masters attacking and dynamic play as much as he has with his grindy positional game then he will be unstoppable
