Great advice about not blaming the other person which only makes the situation more stressful. Work together to solve the problem at hand. Blaming and/or fighting only makes the solution that much harder to get to. Wonderful attitude even in the midst of an emotionally draining anf frustrating experience.
Same happens on Greek ferries btw. You book it online but then you have to get on some small kiosk to pick up an actual paper ticket with that reservation letter and that's all they accept to get on the ship.
Thank you for showing us this raw part of travelling. I've been watching you for so many years and I feel that a lot of youtubers show that travelling is so easy. I realized this year that one of my biggest fears is travelling alone to a foreign country just because everything is totally different.
I had a rough day today because I got a positive test and I have to isolate from my family and tomorrow I would have gone to a summer camp each I was really looking forward 😭😭.
So seeing you having a bad experience and than shifting your mindset really helped me see the positive things were I wouldn't.
Thank you for being so honest and open about everything that happens to you and your relationship. You two are a real reminder that there is kindness in this world.💙

Omg I hated seen that man right away starts yelling at Raya how rude, even if they didnt speak english very well that's not excuse to be so mean and ugly.
Even though that was a tough day for you both, you still have each other and a bed to sleep in. You both made the best of it. The tunnel screaming was so funny.

I think it’s really important for your viewers to see it’s not always rainbows and sunshine. Traveling the world, taking trains, ferries, cars, navigating foreign signs, other languages, currency, etc can be stressful! Not to mention passports, safety and the health crisis right now. Hopefully you can come to some sort of resolution with the ferry company. Continued safe travels!
Loved this vlog! With watching you guys travel for years, it’s sometimes hard to believe that you guys get upset at situations like this. It goes to show we are all human and nobody is perfect. Glad it all worked out ❤️

I am so impressed with how quickly you guys processed your feelings, cried, then immediately went into acceptance mode, Raya saying it might be an opportunity for something good to happen. I'm only halfway through the video, great coping skills. Jim K in Nashville, TN PS I was taught years ago in a 12-step program my serenity is inversely proportional to my expectations, and that the battles are always within. You guys ID'd expectations so quickly as something to let go of.

When your travelling and something like this happens, and especially for people our age where that money is precious, seeing it fly out the window because some jerk is waving a tiny blue slip of paper and saying that's the only reason your denied is soul crushing in the moment. Sending you both so so so much love omg. Keep living the adventure, even when the road gets bumpy.

I appreciate you showing the reality of traveling and showing that things could definitely happen and not go according to plan but to just roll with the punches. You guys let yourself feel frustrated but also shifted your mood into positivity (which I’m sure was difficult) but I love that you two pull through every time. I feel like this was a great bonding experience for you guys and it shows that you two work extremely well together. I loved everything about this video❤️

This is Italy, every single facet of life is full of nonsensical bureaucratic garbage void of any logic. But I respect you both for filming the highs and the lows and admire your ability to handle adversity with such grace.
Honestly, I'm wondering if the boatman were expecting bribe money to let them on. Wouldn't surprise me in the least... after all, as you said, "this is Italy"...

@@GiuseppeLeopizzi I've lived in Italy for years, and these types of disorganized illogical rules permeate throughout the entire country - Whether it's obtaining residency, getting a codice fiscale, buying a car, buying a house, or even simply recycling your trash, etc. Every single expat or local I've encountered here says the same thing. However, this aside, Italy is absolutely amazing, with great people, great food, and amazing architecture and nature. All countries have negatives, and the positives of Italy definitely are plentiful.

Louis.... I don't know how you do it! Sightsee and work during the day , then drive 8-10 hours at night. INSANE! I am glad you guys are safe. And you are right, sometimes we are not denied, but rerouted-- never know what bullet you may have dodged in those situations. You guys are troopers!
When these things happen - and they do to those of us who travel - we cope by trying to smile through the tears and saying "it's gonna be a great travel story". Everyone loves laughing over a good travel disaster at a dinner party down the line... Big love to you both

The thing that we're most grateful for at the moment is having a smooth border crossing from Nicaragua to Costa Rica. It was our first border crossing since Covid and we were freaking out that we might not do something right and be stranded at the border. Thankfully we're in Costa Rica now and we can see why you've decided to make a home here ❤️

Wow. I’ve had a lot of travel challenges over the past 25+ years making movies on the road, I would’ve been challenged to stay as calm as you guys did as you were AT THE RAMP OF THE FERRY!
Nice rebound, my wife and I never blame each other in those tense moments, just try and find the best solution and laugh it off as soon as possible. It really does work over the long term, we promise. Safe travels, looking forward to your next chapter.

I've had an experience similar. Coming back from West Virginia, the bus I was taking was late by 1 hour and that made my trip back up north late too. I missed the connecting bus and had to go west to Tennessee State 🙄. I travelled through Kentucky and Ohio before arriving in Pennsylvania State to the Canadian border in Ontario. I got home 12 hours late but also pushed a complaint to greyhound for their terrible customer service and time management.

I want to thank you for what you said about switching expectations and making the most of the new situation. My fiancé and I are getting married in France and we've been counting on doing it in two years, for lots of reasons. Now my dad is getting stressed about waiting that long (since he's 80) and we're having to move the date up a year. It's really, really overwhelming and I've cried a lot. I've been trying to switch my mindset like you said. Hearing you say it out loud was exactly what I needed to hear. And then seeing you dance it up in the car made me feel like that will be us, dancing it up at our wedding, and everything will be okay. ❤🙏🏻
On my way back to Taiwan from Finland I miss the transfer flight in Shanghai, and I totally cried out of so many emotions.. exhaustion, frustration... the feeling of "I ALMOST MADE IT!!". Even though looking back it totally wasn't a big deal... The emotions are really there!

Don't blame yourselves for something that wasn't even your fault, you got to the port early with time to spare. The disorganization of that port was out of your control, and I've never seen a ferry port as disorganized as that one. And even in an awful situation like this, you still found the light at the end of the tunnel and made the most out of the journey with FRIENDS, showers, spaghetti, and treating yourselves to a five star hotel in Zagreb. But I completely understand the feelings of not seeing your family in a long time, I haven't seen my family in NJ in person since the pandemic started. Nor have I ever met the family my abuela left behind in Cuba

Also, if you can’t get a refund easily, see if your credit card companies can help fight it for you.

Correct, as I've done a few times the last year they can simply ask the bank the reverse the credit card transaction, that way it puts the onus on the company to demonstrate they got the services they paid for.
Honestly this can be frustrating but I’m sure many ppl will learn from ur mistakes so u are helping many this is the whole point of sharing ur experiences on video

Though I wouldn't be comfortable riding a ferry named Moby anyway so maybe that long way around was for the best
