The Gerald R. Ford is the most expensive and largest carrier ever constructed and is scheduled to join the United States Navy fleet in late 2022. According to a 2009 report, the cost of this nuclear giant is almost $14 billion. To put it into perspective, with that kind of money, you could build three One World Trade Centers and still have enough money to buy a large collection of high-end sports cars!
🎬 Key Points:
📌 She is a super carrier with a displacement of approx. 100.000 long tons. Gerald R. Ford and her sister ships will embark two squadrons of ten to twelve F-35C Joint Strike Fighters, two squadrons of ten to twelve F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, five EA-18G Growler electronic attack jets, four E-2D Hawkeye airborne early-warning and control aircraft, and two C-2 Greyhound carrier onboard delivery (COD) planes. It will also carry eight MH-60S Seahawk helicopters.
📌 It will embark the MQ-25 Stingray refueling and intelligence collection drone, the eventual planned sixth-generation fighter to replace the Super Hornet, and maybe a new long-range strike drone.
📌 The V-22 Osprey tiltrotor is also set to replace the C-2 Greyhound in the COD role. Its two new-design Bechtel A1B reactors generate energy sufficient enough to power 260.000 detached houses!

We tend to show of our power when there are ongoing wars in the world. Nothing competes to our carriers worldwide💪🏽 🇺🇸
LOL... This ship is such embarrassment. Nobody respect this aircraft carrier. I scared the EMAL will malfunctioned when needed...
What an awesome ship...
30knots is not the Ford’s top speed, it is officially stated from the USN that, its top speed can exceed 30knots, means it could go faster than 30 knots, but how fast is classified. It is rumored that USN supercarriers in general can achieve around 40-45 knots, so they can out run their own smaller escort ships.
Like a motorboat
@@seancompton9020 but the carrier acceleration is slower but, it can sustain higher speed at rough seas cuz the carrier is bigger and heavier.
But not faster than weaponry! It might be great that it’s fast but it’s a warship not a showboat
@@Then.72 true, 40knots is meaningless to anti ship missile but it might be useful against torpedoes
@@thinhnguyenduy4099 depending on what direction as many will be around plus the fleet can’t keep up
Looks cool, but I don't know, I served on the USS Saratoga CV-60 a non-nuclear carrier, and we achieved 32 knots while crossing the Atlantic in 1980, Capt Flatley III came over the 1MC and told us so, and I believed him.
I appreciate the detailed video of the ship inside and out, thank you for creating and posting
The difference in size and striking power is significant and rated for 30 knots does not mean it can never go above this in an emergency. I didn't need to explains this to a carrier VET.
@@paulvarn4712 I was just throwing that out there because our Captain seemed proud of the fact that we achieved the speed and let the entire crew share in the success not because I would have thought the Ford could not perform at a higher rate.
The top speed is classified. I believe an admiral has said it is “quite a bit faster”
@@archer1133 Sure, most intelligence is classified, but in the summer of 1980 while we were at sea our Captain shared the moment with the crew, pretty neat
Just know an American carrier can travel 900 nautical miles in 24 hours at flank speed. That’s swift.
THE FINAL COUNTDOWN fantastic aircraft carrier movie!
"that woke "em up!"
Just incredible!😳
Heading to Gaza RN
That one ship alone could wipe North Korea off the map probably 3x over. Without even putting boots on the ground.
I had to laugh when they said top speed 30 knots I will tell u this its a lot faster than that
True. When it gets going it throws a rooster tail higher than the flight deck. They cover the "speedometer" on the bridge so no sailor can actually see how fast they are going. They can absolutely outrun the support ships in the Strike Group, which is kind of a problem since they provide the protective bubble around the carrier.
now that's a channel to follow for serious information, backed with solid research and quality presentation! nice work guys...
I believe it also has the title of being the most expensive ship ever built at $12.8 B USDs.
fun fact it was 15.8B USD
Another fun fact: The amount of money that the Biden administration sends to Ukraine can buy 3 of these carriers.
and to think you could build two Queen Elizabeth class carriers for 1/4 of the price, its full of new technology too. Something is very wrong with U.S military procurement programs.
12.8 billion is nothing now. It's a bargain if u think about it.
If they wanted to, they could save money by modifying the moth ball carriers and put their moth ball fleet of older aircraft on it and have them be the tip of the fleet.
For a Ship yes, but the F-35 Program has cost the Taxpayers over $180 Billion.
2:08 that's not an E2D....that's an E2C..
China take note if you think your one Russian carrier group can go up against 11 carrier groups like this.
That's not their plan. Most likely they are continuing to improve the accuracy of their nuclear ballistic missiles. Why? There is no real credible capability to shoot down an incoming intercontinental ballistic missile. As of 2022, no nation really has a credible capability in this respect. Whilst anti-ballistic missile technology exists, current technological advances do not stretch to a capable system to protect against even a limited ICBM attack. If the Chinese decide they have no choice but to go to war against the U.S., you can be sure that they would attempt a Pearl Harbor-type mass first strike. The main difference is that today, unlike Japan in 1941, the Chinese know exactly where every single American surface ship is located at all times, and vice versa. So, whoever goes first could potentially wipe out the other's navy overnight. The other possibility that worries our navy is that just as the aircraft carrier made battleships obsolete overnight, a new technology will someday make aircraft carriers obsolete overnight. That new technology could be the drone swarm. Drones are being used to devastating effect in recent conflicts. And that's with mere handfuls of drones flying in any skirmish. The thing is, the Chinese are suspected to be more sophisticated at managing massive drone formations better than anybody else. Hopefully, American military planners are is not as complacent about underestimating the Chinese threat as the average intenernet jingoist.
LoL
This aircraft was supposed to cost 5 billion but now costs 20+ billion and has a new issue everyday and the launching system is basically defective and the toilet costs 80,000 USD to unclog. Talk about being a joke
@@thompson7271 you must be speaking of Russia or China comrade
Apparently Type 003 Fujian has a huge crack on its flight deck. It will certainly take more time before it can be deployed.

Awesome indeed.
I just wanted to see what was deployed, this baby is a menace.
Me too
This aircraft carrier can demonstrate freedom around the world.
VERY interesting. Why are the hosing off the anchor chain in the last shot?
It's called the the anchor wash. It is done to remove any mud or dirt which might have been caught on the anchor chain, whilst it was lying on the seabed: )
Isnt washing it off also to get the salt deposits off as well? Im just wondering
Yes, anti corrosion effort.
Build 4 more asap
That's one big ass target.
All Navy ships are targets as far back as the orirginal Bonhomme Richard. Should we disband the Navy ?
I hope its got better protection for its underwater stern gear than our own so called supercarrier Prince of Wales , now languishing uselessly in a Scottish Dry dock facing an uncertain future even before her sea trials were finished .
We don't see the US sub screen around this fleet who are as powerful as the surface fleet itself.
Here after the deployment…
why are they spraying the anchor chain at the end and what are they spraying it with?
Probably with fresh water to wash not only the corrosive seawater but also mud from part of the chain laying at the bottom of the seabed along with the anchor.
What was that case when chains were melted inside water and every anchor fall down.
What is substitute brakes mechanism in this air craft carrier in water.
also has those UAPs
I’m so happy the US exists. Protectors of democracy and freedom.
Very glad to have you guys as our allies. Just wish Europe would step up too and rebuild our military so we can stand up to the non democratic bullies out there whenever they threaten our freedom and way of life (Russia and China).
@@razmaw1724 yes you are terrorist. Don't be mad girl
@@razmaw1724 How ironic.
???? "Protectors of democracy and freedom"????
CIA covert operations, assassination, elected government toppling operations all over south America and the world for decades? US destroyed middle East through direct invasion and proxy wars killing millions and putting countless millions into abject poverty for decades? US impose sanctions against every country and organization that do not agree with US Imperialist policies, including staff of International Court of Tribunal over cases of US war crimes, causing uncountable number of deaths and famines and mass starvation in civilian population of sanctioned countries. US enslaved all over Africa continent, carried out genocide all over America continent, impose imperialism and colonialism all over Asia continent.
You can support US because you are an American nationalist who supports your own country no matter what. That's fine, just be honest about. But don't be a clown and say "Protectors of democracy and freedom" like you found Iraq's WMD already. US has zero, 0, moral high ground on the world stage. US, based on the damages it has done to the world over the course of it's 200+ years of short history, has been one of the most evil imperialist empires the world has ever seen, second only to the British Empire.
Nice bot comment. Your absurd comment clearly exposed your brainless identity.
Is it just me or did they not show a single video of the actual aircraft carrier?
Did you forget about the space shuttle
Sieht man doch die Rohstoffräuber gut vorbereitet !
Nothing invincible in this world of destruction. One day it will be sink into the this very same water.
At least no country in the world dares to attack US ships.
It’s interesting seeing the Navy deal with decommissioning our older Nuclear Carriers! The Enterprise is being constructed right next to the old one! And it looks like the New Enterprise CVN-80 will be completed before they even fully dismantle the old Enterprise! It’s like they didn’t have a plan in place!
So glad they finally got this ship sorted out .
So many new technologies that had to be tested and integrated .
A bit like the F-35 one of those to big to fail projects .
The Chinese type 55 is also very advanced but without the many issues faced by the Ford class.
A mammoth task to integrate all the technology into a cohesive ship but the first of something is always the most difficult.
The Ford class radar and superstructure would be a good starting point for a new US cruiser design to match the Type 55 but with conventional propulsion.
We are not really implying here that the chinese AC can in any way compare to the Ford-Class, are we? Because if we did I would say we can't, the technological differences aside (and they are huge), the carrier defenses and abilities far outclass anything any other nation (aside from MAYBE UK, but even thats pushing it, nothing can compare to the Ford Class at the moment) can output on any aircraft carrier.
USS Gerald Ford - one hypersonic missile away from being the most advanced shipwreak on the ocean floor .
It's sitting right now in the Mediterranean. Why hasn't nobody tried anything? Because they'd get shot down instantly and their country turns into a smoldering ruin. You have no idea bud
Your knowledge of this subject is obviously quite limited. A carrier strike group's defenses are formidable, air, surface, sub-surface. The U.S. navy isn't stupid, they're prepared for any threat
Hold on ...the First operational cruise for this ship, the Ford, is now underway. It will only be out for two months!! And has only 80% of a full load of aircraft on board...hum does not sound like real operational cruise to me. So far it has been reported (by Forbes) the elevators operate with less efficiency then the older Nimitz class.
No one pays attention to your trolling Ray.
Ford on its way to port, first deployment is cut short. You dummy.
Everything was fixed. It works great now. Faster and less maintenance
The Ford is not the only operational ship in this fleet. The other ships and subs supporting this ship are even more capable. They likely have enough cruise missiles to make up for any lack of aircraft. Their anti air weapons are the best in the world and all the ships together capable of taking out hundreds of aircraft. All the ships can engage beyond the horizon. All the Ford has to do is provide a command center with air and surface recon and it did it's job. We're not in a hot war yet and the Ford fleet is there to say don't start one because the response will be within minutes of the attack and there are many other US and NATO assets which can support the fleet at the drop of a hat.
95% of the video was Nimitz class.
Awesome! She will help to garantee democracy all over the world! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Democracy = Israel commiting genocide and expanding NATO to Russia's doorstep after backing out of nuclear treaties and and the US's agreement to hault NATO expansion.
💪
When I served on the USS Saratoga in 1973 the captain bragged that he could run from one end of the ship to the other within 10 seconds. But the old fart did not make it and had to buy us all a beer.
Next year they will be searching for it at the bottom of the ocean.
I wish I could be there. ( retired) 2020
God bless America and are military
After all it is just an aircraft carrier, it’s not like you are gonna win a war because of a huge ship.
its not just a "huge ship", its a floating airbase which has more aircraft (and especially 5th gen aircraft) than most earth militaries. Carriers also travel as a group accompanied by a combination of other ships (destroyer, corvette, submarines, supply ships)
So why talk about 1 ship but show videos of another one
The most technologically advanced invasion navy!
lol it hasn’t fought any super power yet, it will be sunk with an advanced weapon
The first clip is steam powered. That is not from this ship which I’d annoying.
82 to 88 VS-41 and VS-33 AZ2 two west pacs and when your out there doing your job you can't wait to get out and then years down the road you see things like this and want to go back ..strange how that works..
If I'm not mistaken the government accidentally admitted that the Theodore Roosevelt was steaming towards the gulf at 50 knots, during the first gulf war.
Why not claimed 100 knots? It can even fly to Mars. Bragging has no limit.
Has no f35s on it
Looks like Iran will be greeting this beast
clickbait. None of what's in the video isn't on the wikipedia page, all common knowledge.
The Middle East is about to find out personally. 😂
Years in the planning , 13 years in construction , 4 years after commissioning it still can't go on deployment . Deployed 4th of this month and it's the 25th now and it still can't go to sea . It would be awesome if it could actually do something useful , like put to sea on deployment hopefully some time before I die .
It docked in the Philippines a few days ago. Can't go to sea?
@@DOI_ARTS You have the wrong carrier. That was the Reagan. The Ford hasn't been near the Pacific.

It's actually the spy 6 that is not quite yet dual band but will be supposedly. It's basically just a software upgrade they're working on I guess?. But yeah something like it says the dual band feature will start on radar set number 16 or something, but that's counting every type of SPY-6 not just the one replacing the SPY3. The Ford will be the only of the class to have SPY3(it was originally SPY3 plus SPY(X-BAND) same as Zumwalt was supposed to, then Administration's who don't know shit started making MASSIVE budget cuts cuz for some reason(bought and paid for by CCP) DC "experts" seemed to ignore the massive DEVIL growing stronger in the East just waiting to pounce, and so they just decided "We don't have any near peers, let's cancel ALL are most crucial projects while publishing our R&D WHAT COULD GO WRONG!?!?!
Anyways sorry about that little rant, so in total I think Lockheed has delivered six or seven complete SPY-6 sets with around #16-20 will be the first to have the dual band "upgrade". Which really should start to come pretty quick cuz they're starting or they're finally getting into full rate production and if you don't know the Spy6 radar is amazing and it's going to make up our main Naval radar for All ships you are going to be firing missiles at anything in the air and especially if they're going to be performing ballistic missile defense. Instead of just being one specific radar design for one specific area on a specific ship, spy 6 is actually what's made up of what they call rma's which are radar module assembly assembly I think, anyways there one foot by one foot individual spices radars that you essentially just piece together to create whatever size you can fit. So that's why they're it's going to be the whole fleets radar, they can backfit an 24RMA SPY6 on to the flight IIa Burke's which essentially 10× its power while the flight III's have the full size which is made up of 37 rma's which is supposedly 30× more sensitive thand the old SPY1D...
Unzurna 🎉😢😮
ALL aircraft carriers are STEAM powered. What creates the steam is the crucial difference between American and Chinese carriers. The USA uses NUCLEAR power to create the steam which turns the generators that power the ship and its propellers. Chinese carriers burn fuel oil to create the steam and are thus very limited in their range and must be refueled every month or so. The American carriers can go decades before needing to be refueled an so can go unlimited distances and stay out indefinitely if needed, limited only by the supplies it needs to feed and support the crew. The same goes for American nuclear submarines. This is why America virtually OWNS the seven seas.
Thank you President Trump. I remember him always hinting that the military was building some incredible weapons and carriers.

Might have the same fate as TITANIC. Or worse as Russia, China, North Korea and Iran combined fire-power and airpower can destroy hundreds of these carriers.
