1960’s Oil lamp full restoration

  • I’m restoring my grandparents Feuerhand ‘baby 275’ oil lamp, they were produced in west Germany in world war 2. My grandparents brought it back to the UK after my grandfather was stationed there whilst in the RAF in the 60’s.
    My grandma gave the lamp to me whilst having a clear out and I wanted to save it for future generations of my family to see and to use.

    Any of these lanterns that were produced in West Germany were done after world war II. I don't think that's the original burner. I've seen many of these FH lanterns, and I've never seen a burner quite like that. it also surprised me that the cap on it came off in the way that it did. It must be a rare piece.

    Nice work Jim. Can you do a vintage hand cranked bean slicer soon (haha, as if!) as I have one in the shed I want to restore but wouldn't know where to start...
