that pearl bag was more complicated than my statistics course at uni 😂 but seriously, very cool ideas :) I'm seeing hair accessories is a huge trend, those clips with pearls, also faux tortoise shell clips, all kinds of bows, maybe you can recreate a few of those? ❤️❤️❤️
The bag is not complicated if you do it the right way. Google right angle weave . You can do this bag with one peace of tread on your lap. Also google how to extend beading tread if you don't want to deal with 50 yards of tread at once.
Hi Wendy love what you did, all the bags are beautiful, with that said, I’m a beader Professionally, I make jewelry and have made beaded bags and clothing, all out of beads, wanted to offer you a little advice, that bag ended up being way harder than it needed to be, so if you look up the technique right angle weave, or right angle beading, lots of videos on CZcams on how to do that technique it will make it a lot easier on you, it didn’t need to be that complicated, there are lots of beading tutorials for purses as well, that could help you improve your technique so that it doesn’t have to be so hard, just wanted to help a little,so I hope that helps👍🏼✌🏼 thank you for everything you do and you have taught me a lot I don’t know how to sew very well and you have helped me so much it’s nice to know I can return the favor a little bit😁🤟👍🏼😘😉💖☺️ sending much love your way💗 p.s. you won’t have to use all that tape 👍🏼😘
oh wendy, my childhood days of making progressively more and more complicated friendship bracelets and bead art prepared me for the INSANITY that is that adorable pearl bag! I dont know if you ever made those little summer camp bead lizards, but the diagram you popped up immediately reminded me of them.
I really want to but I'm sacred because I am a "self taught" hand sewer but just watching you is perfect as you always reinforce the idea of just having fun and ENJoy sewing! So thank you😄
I'm self taught too. My dresses are a bit mad on the inside! (those seams! shocking!) Seriously, go for it!!!!!!!!!!! The inside of your purse is nobody's business! xo
😂oh? Where I’m from (Botswana) we call it ‘Mozimbabwe’ which means “a Zimbabwean” which could perhaps be offending to someone not from these parts but the funny thing is they (Zimbabweans) call it ‘Motswana’ meaning “someone from Botswana”😂I think it’s both funny and cute. Apparently we call it that because we first spotted it on the other🤷🏽♀️
@@hannahofhorror 😂😂😂oh In Gabon we call this bag "I'm coming back from Libreville" because it is a bag that our mothers and grandmothers use when they return from the capital (Libreville) and that they had to make a lot of purchases. 😂
The pearl bag for sure, despite how intensely complicated it is. I'd have to find a more secure way to attach the handle cuz I'd definitely destroy it the first day I wore it. And the furry one, cuz it's mad cute.
OMG...!! my great-aunts use to do beading work like that, but waaaay smaller (coin purses) and I always wondered how they did it! You just unveiled one of the greatest questions in my life!!!
One hack, if you don't have a walking foot then you can just stitch with a thin paper in between and just rip the paper off when you are done. toilet paper or tissue works fine too! :) and this works not only for vinyls but any do-not-slide-when-met-with-metal such as chrome leather or faux leather(which is pretty much like vinyl) ... I soooo love your videos Wendy!!!! Yuhoooooo
Coolest video ever--thank you! I can sew some media bags and some great little jewelry gift bags. The faux fur bags can be sewn to be a fundraiser sale item at charity boutiques or sold on etsy...from Grandma Bunny in Phoenix.
Echoing your "Amazinggggggg it isssss"....walking foot is a game changer...a saint...a life saver from all the frustration of sewing thick/special material on a home sewing machine :)
I especially love the faux fur bag - so cute. I echo the sentiment below that I can't believe you've gotten this far in your sewing without using a walking foot. They are amazing for all kinds of unusual fabrics as it helps them feed evenly into the machine. TFS.
Looooove all three!!! Little trick if you don't have a walking foot! Use some clear tape and stick it on the bottom of your regular sewingfoot and also on the base, around the... teeth (?) Not perfect, but it makes it a little bit more slippery!
Wendy, my Mother was a seamstress and worked in a Tailors. When I was a child many moons ago, fur was acceptable, my Mother hated it, with a vengeance, an early animal rights protester? However, she had to work with fur, altering mink coats etc. Any alterations were marked on the reverse, the skin side, cut on the reverse too with a one sided razor blade, it makes the cutting of long or short haired faux fur so much simpler as your cutting only through the backing. I've passed this tip on to many people, some even claiming it as their own! Sorry Mum... I still have 2 of her one sided blades both stamped USA, they're still cutting! Try it, it works a treat, although nowadays a scalpel or craft tool would be so much easier to use.
So cute!!! That bead bag is so glam! Whenever I use fishing line for projects, I always put either a drop or super glue, or a bit of clear nail polish on the knots to make sure they don’t come undone. Can’t wait to see what you make next!
These were so cute! The pearl bag was very impressive and I love the creativity that you put into it! These mini bags carry an unlimited amount/supply of...ideas! 👛🎒👝👜👍🏻
Without a walking foot, if you want an easier time sewing vinyl just put the fabric between two strips of tissue paper!!! You can rip the tissue paper off after done sewing ❤️❤️
I have a super easy tip for sewing vinyl! Take your universal presser foot and put one piece of tape on the bottom, then cut around the edges of the presser foot and re-attach it! Makes it so much easier to sew vinyl.
I've been eyeing the Burberry Nylon Rucksack and looking at it I really want to see if it would be possible to DIY it. But there's the lack of experience so I'm thankful for your tutorials in general.
I like the first one best, probably because besides being cute, I could see me actually using it - the other two, I personally don't like that much - but still: props to you for doing that! The skill and patience are impressive!
I just burn the ends of my cording. As long as it has some man made fiber in it, the melted fibers will hold the end together. You just need the flame for a second or two, not long enough to ignite or char.
The beaded purse is MUCH easier if you start with a single ladder pattern, then you can just go as long as you want, then just turn your threads and go back down, using the placed beads as a guide to make the next row till it is wide enough. ;) It is a very common jewelry technique I use quite often. Very fun and easier to do this way. (Would explain further if anyone has no idea what I mean.) ;) Such beautiful work! The fuzzy one is my favorite! LOVE the color!
I just found your channel and I love it. Your instructions and techniques are great. I love all the bags. The one I would like to play around with is the fur bag. My favorite bag is the beaded bag, but there is no way I would try to make it. You did a great job. Thank you.
If you have a clipboard you could use that as a work surface for stringing the pearl bag so that you don’t have to sacrifice your table. You might even be able to get away with using a wood cutting board or even a large piece of cardboard/scrap wood
Hey; just a tip when you are cutting fur faster and better, just put the point of your scissors upward when cutting. You will be able to cut a bigger distance without cutting the hair off.
im not the master beader but in my experience a good cotton thread (kinda like a sewing therad but thicker, for pearls a white one would have been good) is way sturdier than nylon thread. thin nylon thread will break with the lightest bit of strain, and it will send all those pearls and gold beads to the floor :( unless you're using something like fishing line, but believe me you dont want to use fishing line for that lmao. also the thicker the nylon thread, the harder it is to make a good knot that wont just bounce back and undo itself. a very thin jewelry wire will work too but those are pain to work with.
I love you so much for this because I'm already working on some things similar, your page is so much inspo... And I only understand the pearl bag's structure cause I know beadery, it's confusing nonetheless though. Thank youuuuu!!!! 😭😭✨💜💜
i remember i had about 3 “beaded bags” like those because my aunt used to make them for me and my sister lol i obvs didn’t know it would come back being trendy and at the time, it was a normal sized bag because i was as tiny as a bedside table so you can imagine how small the purse was lol this tutorial got me inspired to truths fur bag and go talk to my aunt about those beaded wonders! xoxoo!! love your vidsss
You could literally sell that pearl bag for $500 and it would be justified given the work and time it takes to hand bead. Plus is looks luxe, too.

My remaining two brain cells really really tried to keep up with the pearl bag 😩😩
😭 all I heard was "horizontal, vertical, horizontal, vertical..." and I just nodded and smiled.

Oh yes the lizards!!! What a nice memory
lol I made the lizards also and thought of it too when i saw the pearl bag
The last bag is definitely a good prom statement, its iconic and elegant at the same time!
That pearl bag gives me anxiety. I keep imagining you out and about and the thread breaks and it falls apart 😭
Namara omg I thought the same thing.
That would be such a disaster but so funny to see happen 😆
Before I clicked I thought "hey maybe I can do that!" Me 5 minutes into the video: "There's no way I can do this"
You can :)

which handle/body bag combo would you make?? 💙💙
The cute little plaid grocery bag 😭
I really like the bags with these ring handles, was thinking of making one but not sure about the body of the bag itself
Fur one!! Fur sure!
The bead one is amazinggggg! But like, how long did it take? haha results pay off though~
The pearl bag for sure, despite how intensely complicated it is. I'd have to find a more secure way to attach the handle cuz I'd definitely destroy it the first day I wore it. And the furry one, cuz it's mad cute.
How cute!!! I admire your perseverance with the beads!! The looped whip stitch is sometimes called a blanket stitch.
you could also use a teflon foot instead of a walking one. that's what I use for all of my vinyls (heavy/upholstery/stretch/clear,etc)

You are so patient. The beaded bag is perfect. Suggestion on the fur bag, use a less thick rope around the purse. This way it will fall nicely..
Wow, the pearl bag. Such a craftsmanship. And I personally don't like unpractical small bags. But your work is so clever and amazing.
The pearl bag was a labor of love. I bought a tiny mercado bag a long time ago. Not knowing it would be a trend. Lol. My fave was the furry bag

That Pearl purse is so cute! So are the other two purses. You are so creative. ✂️ 🥋👗👑👛
The DEDICATION though with the pearl bag!!!👏🏽👏🏽😳
I love the faux fur and the pearl bag. I think you can make the pearl bag stronger if you string more pearls up to the handles and close that gap up.
Looooove all three!!! Little trick if you don't have a walking foot! Use some clear tape and stick it on the bottom of your regular sewingfoot and also on the base, around the... teeth (?)

Smooth scotch tape will do the trick. I learned this from an instructor that had taught sewing for many years.
Wowwwwwwwwww. They're all beautiful in their own way. Also the stitch you were doing is called Blanket Stitch.
