My mom-in-law spend her childhood in Pakistan before partition. Her father was posted as an airforce officer there. She used to tell her beautiful memories about Pakistan. I've never eaten chilgoza but heard abt it my mom-in-law used to tell me ki while going to school her pockets were full of chilgoze. Thanks for sharing this informative video.

The problem is , those who are doing all the work are only getting 1200 per KG and in the cities they are now sold for 7000 per kg and In the past they were sold for 14000 per kg.

Pine nuts are available in Lulu market Oman at 50 Omani rial per KG that to 2 years ago this was the rate. After seeing this videos request to take some initiative to increase the per kg price of pine nuts. People in between sales man are urning lot of money. People who are doing hard work shall get some rewards for their hard work.

In Mexico we do have several species of pine nut trees, the ones in the wild can be harvested but some of the cones (20 %) have to be left in the tree, so wild life can feed on them and some seeds can grow into new trees. Some people do not observe that regulation but if caught jail is the result. I do hope someone is sprouting/germinating the Chilgoza seeds and making new trees to replenish the wild population if not now, in the future through some government program if necesary. @@myurdupoetry7378 I have never tried the Chilgoza type. Here at the markets there is white and pink pine nuts. To the final consumer their sell price are 45 and 60 dollar per kg respectively (de-shelled), very expensive. The white ones are imported while the pink ones are from this area. The pink ones taste better and are endemic to this region.I do have one tree in my orchard and planning to add another one. There is another endemic pine nut specie that has doble size kernels than the regular ones (blue pine Pinus maximartinezii), it is a protected specie. I will have to go there to try those Chilgoza pine nuts :) Thank you.
@Teresa Mexico. As you mentioned in Mexico you leave 20% cones on the tree, but in Pakistan it is a wild tree on the mountains. People harvest hardly 20 to 30% trees, which are not on high up the mountains. So trees on uper side of the mountains remain unharvested, it means plenty of seed left for wild life & new plants.

The taste of this chilgoza are excellent I tried American one it’s totally different taste
@@myurdupoetry7378 I have never tried the Chilgoza type. Here at the markets there is white and pink pine nuts. To the final consumer their sell price are 45 and 60 dollar per kg respectively (de-shelled), very expensive. The white ones are imported while the pink ones are from this area. The pink ones taste better and are endemic to this region.I do have one tree in my orchard and planning to add another one.
There is another endemic pine nut specie that has doble size kernels than the regular ones (blue pine Pinus maximartinezii), it is a protected specie.
I will have to go there to try those Chilgoza pine nuts :)

@Teresa Mexico. As you mentioned in Mexico you leave 20% cones on the tree, but in Pakistan it is a wild tree on the mountains. People harvest hardly 20 to 30% trees, which are not on high up the mountains. So trees on uper side of the mountains remain unharvested, it means plenty of seed left for wild life & new plants.
