  • Join us for a city tour of Toronto on our first day in Canada, seeing some of the coolest things to do in Toronto.
    It's our first day in Canada and we spend the day doing our own city tour of Toronto. We do a walking tour of Toronto, taking in some of the things to see and do in Toronto including the CN Tower, Hockey Hall of Fame and Toronto Islands. These are some of the best things to do in Toronto, and we loved our one day in Toronto.
    The Toronto Islands were a particular highlight, with gorgeous views over Lake Ontario and downtown Toronto.
    (note: this video was filmed over 2 days because of other commitments but all of this could easily be done in one day in Toronto).
    Thank you for joining us of this tour of Toronto, seeing some of the best things to do in Toronto!

    I've lived in Toronto my whole life and never even heard of the underground pathways LOL, so I learned something new here!

    A little late arriving to this one. So sad it was such a rainy day. Nice to see all the iconic slights. Breakfast looked good despite being meat free. 🤣. The weather improved for the start of your trip to the island. You certainly got your steps in that day. 🤣 Great view of the city though and probably worth the ferry ride. The rest of the theme park seemed closed or under refurbishment. Finally that was a serious train you took to see your relatives. See you next week.

      The Toronto islands are brilliant - definitely worth the ferry ride for the views but so much else to see and do too! I always found that fast food meat doesn’t really taste like real meat anyway so being vegetarian made no difference 🤷🏻‍♀️ The train ride to my relatives was fantastic - double decker train!

    Glad you could make it to the Islands! The houses are the last survival of a much larger community: there used to be mansions, and a full high street with shops and hotels (even a cinema and bowling alley, apparently), before they cleared it all out in the late 1950s to build the park. Lots of people would like to get rid of the airport too, and extend the park into that area.
    I've been inside Old City Hall on Doors Open day - it's a bit shabby from being the central criminal court, but still rather nice, with an ornamental staircase and stain-glass windows. The court is moving to a new building in a couple of years, and then they'll reopen it to the public as a library and museum!

      Oh that’s really interesting about the islands - I would love to have seen it back then. I’ll do some Googling, see if I can find any photos of it. Glad they’re going to use the Old City Hall as a library and museum - it’s too beautiful a building not to be accessible to the public.

      @@EmmaSpears Can you believe they almost tore it down to build the Eaton Centre? And the original plans for the CN Tower would have demolished Union Station. The sixties were a strange time!

    Hello Emma, I was making Toronto itinerary and wanted to confirm that you covered all the places except islands in one day right?

    • @EmmaSpears
      @EmmaSpears  Před 10 měsíci

      Yes, that’s right 😊 The islands are great to explore so allow at least half a day for them (including the ferry to/from)

    I've just cancelled a trip to Toronto with our little one - and hoping to re-book for next year. We like slow-ish travel but do you think 2 weeks might be too long for Toronto as a stand-alone trip, or better to combine with NY - 7.8 nights in each (been to NY lots but not Toronto)? We also wanted to stay overnight at Niagara Falls.

    • @EmmaSpears
      @EmmaSpears  Před rokem +2

      Toronto is a great city but like most cities can be done in 3 or 4 days even at a leisurely pace. I would recommend combining it with a trip elsewhere - there’s lots to do within 1 or 2 hour hours drive of Toronto if you’re renting a car. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a lovely place to spend a couple of nights 😊

      @@EmmaSpears thank you! We won't have a car so will likely use the train to Niagara and combine with a flight elsewhere!

      There is a place called canadas wonderland in Toronto, i'd recommend . Good fun . Also Toronto zoo, Lion Safari Park, a large aquarium in Toronto. I know in Niagra Falls there is a hotel/ waterpark. My stepdad has been on holiday with my nephew.( Great Wolf Lodge ) . I like going to Canada and going for drives down dirt roads , looking for wildlife.
