    SOUND
    C500: constant hissing sound
    Sounds claustrophobic with poor instrument separation
    Muddy bass make them sound less deep and less wide than I would like
    Lively sound overall with powerful lows. Pop sounds fun with these. For the price, not a bad balance, but there is plenty of better sounding competition
    Only AAC & SBC codecs
    Link:
    Only supports SBC & AAC
    Great clarity, but lacks bass
    Anything below 200Hz is significantly deemphasized
    Open-back type sound, great for a quiet work space in which you wear earbuds for many hours per day!
    Link S:
    LDAC support
    Fun and lively
    A smaller driver than the XM4, but still an impressive sub-bass performance
    A bit warm and dark. I wish there was better spatial replication and it didn’t sound like it was all in the middle of my head
    Still pretty decent
    XM4:
    LDAC support
    Warmer, more powerful and full sounding. Great detail and clarity with a wider soundstage. More natural and clear than any other earbuds on this list. A substantial improvement over the others, but an untrained ear may not notice too much difference between Link S and these.

    I’ve honestly never even thought about wireless charging. You can pretty much only use it at home but earbuds are something I use when I’m anywhere but home and even at that you’d have to remain stationary in one spot to charge them . It’s so much easier to toss them in a case, toss the case in my bag, commute to work, and then use them after that charge.

    I always put sound quality first. But over time, using various wireless headphones, I realized that it is very important for me how comfortable they sit in the ear. Many headphones start to tire my ears, to the point that the ear cartilage can start to hurt. And, of course, the weight of the earphone and its size are extremely important, in this regard, because any action can cause loss or depressurization, and even if these are compact and lightweight headphones, this still happens from time to time. Therefore, my favorite here is definitely the Linkbuds S. However, the WF-1000XM4 really hold the bass better, and in general they sound a little better, they are quite possible to purchase if you do not listen to music for a long time, but only insert them at 10 minutes and listen to it in a relaxed atmosphere. Well, I would also like to add that, in fact, the review really lacked the WF-1000XM3 headphones, which are much more comfortable than their older model, but are still relevant and sound very decent, and probably not even worse than WF-1000XM4.

    • @Victor-kh5rh
      @Victor-kh5rh Před 2 lety +12

      What people don’t consider is battery health. All of these products will face battery degradation, if the buds start with 5 hours of battery life chances are that over two years assuming one charging cycle every few days, the battery health will decline to barely acceptable range. This happened to my OG AirPods within a year as I used them heavily for workouts and conference calls, by the end of the year they would last for less than 40 minutes. The Beats Pro started at 8 hours and after two and a half years they were still holding for 3 hours or so. This is why I would never consider headphones with at a minimum 6 hours of battery life, anything less than that is going to be disposable in 1-2 years.

    • @PhantasmXYZ
      @PhantasmXYZ Před 2 lety +3

      @@Victor-kh5rh on a related note, user serviceability is why I've stuck with my older WF1000-XM3 and returned my XM4. It is relatively easy to replace the XM3 batteries every year or two to restore performance. $20-$30 for fresh cells vs. $200-$300 for new models with relatively minor improvements

    I've owned two pairs of XM4's and while they're great earbuds, there were a lot of quality of life issues I had with them. I couldn't wear them for more than an hour as the design was too bulky for my ear and the foam eartips enver gave me a comfortable seal. They were either too small or too big and they had a tendency to come off in my ear when i took the earbud out (which is really uncomfortable and freaky). I need earbuds or headphones whenever I am out and about so i have always invested money into a good pair of earbuds and headphones, and while the XM4's are objectively a higher tier, I am finding that the Link Buds S way more comfortable to wear and with some tweaking in the EQ from another youtuber's review I am finding that these buds are fit much better and totally unobtrusive. I'm listening to them right now and I can already tell there aren't any pressure points and the seal is comfortable and effective. So yeah, I unreservedly prefer the Link Bud S over the XM4 so in retrospect, i'm kinda happy now that I lost one of the earbuds and had to replace it.

I've sat in a completely quiet room in my home, and even then the other person on the call is not able to hear me. My voice gets completely garbled on cellular calls. And apparently, on apps like WhatsApp/Telegram, MS Teams, etc I am just legible enough. Would sincerely request you to put the microphones to a better test. About the Samsung buds live.
    I actually like that nc because it is just enough to make a difference in the office and I sadly kinda screwed up earcanals so I can't use foam inears over time. Silicone gets even worse since I seem to have developed a damn allergy against gummi/silicone eartips.

    @josir1994 Před 2 lety +1

    can you use the foam tips of the XM4 on the Linkbuds S? and how does it sound, comparing to the native XM4, I assume that may fill the gap on noise reduction and change the sound signature a bit.

  • @sebastianschmidtataktien-e4705

    About the foam tips of the wf-1000xm4 - they will always wear down very fast. The durability is poor and I have worn down 3 pairs already within just a year. They are great soundwise, but way too expensive in my opinion if you order them extra. And one more point - I think they are one of the contributors to the WF-1000xm4 superior ANC performance. I have run mine with regular tips and the ANC then is significantly worse. The foam tips alone block a lot of noise. If Sony figures out a way to make those more durable - that would be a nice little advantage.

    Clearer HD sound is better than increased pitch. You can separate the different sounds instead of hearing a louder microphone.
    Comfort I prefer the wing tips. Noise cancelling is not a priority.
    (Bose stayhear tips are most comfortable) with 3-party manufacturers you can create same feeling
    Hate earplugs, especially foam. *Wf1000xm4* only annoying thing is pairing. Holding fingers. Easier to pair through smartphone. (Already have 2 pairs = free with Xperia purchases)

    the left headphone starts making weird sounds after a few hours of use unless i turn anc/ambient sounds off - it sounds like if there was a strong wind passing by my ear, so not sure if i should try another pair of the same headphones or maybe go try the XM4 or if i should try something else (i heard that its not a good idea to use airpods pro with android phones)

      They disappear in my ears but I can only get about one extra full charge from the case (just charging the right earbud from empty brings it down to 50 so I imagine charging both from empty would downright kill the case.
      Furthermore the software experience is less than stellar. While it supports google assistant you have to use the right earbud and you are unable to use the left one standalone which is a bit of a deal breaker for me since the one earbud only takes me 3/4 be of the way through a shift.
      I love the earbuds but they don't quite suit my needs. If they stayed in my ears while I was sleeping they would be amazing sleep buds since they are small enough that they don't irritate my ears when laying on my side

    Sony's WF-1000xm4 is my choice for the best sound quality. However, Sony needs to address the issue where transparency mode is interrupted when a loud beep is detected in the environment!! I never had this problem with the WF1000-XM3. And the dramatically poor call quality is also a shame. But out there they are the best sounding earbuds with the best bass, sound staging and ANC. When combined with a Sony Xperia smartphone which supports Sony's proprietary 360 audio the XM4s provide the best achievable listening pleasure in my opinion.
