This is a video demonstrating the DIY upgrade of doing a ek 520 chain and sprocket conversion. This is my first time doing this job on a V4 panigale. So please dont be to hard on me....lol - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Cool deal 5-Up, thanks for inviting us into yer garage to watch you work on yer sweet DUCATI!
Hey thank you glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, love how you make it look so easy. Good to hear your gonna be working with 650 more, enjoyed when you guys collaborated on videos before.
Awesome video. DIY are always a good watch.
Right on time with this one I'm doing chain and sprockets on my R6 right now
Good stuff! Keep the vids coming!
i like these DIY vids. keep it up
Great job Steve!
Very informative.
Hey thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it
*Nice work 5UP!* Purty and functional.
Hey thank you.
And yes more garage video's about bikes would be cool , I always pick up some tricks I can use
Ok great 👨🔧
Gorgeous bike Steve love the content 👍
Hey thank you very much glad you enjoyed it
Can’t wait to see u put the smack down on 650ib’s V4r
Bike looks amazing.
i Enjoy your vids. Stay humble.
Good vid Steve
Nice video dude. Friendly tip. ... get the camera closer. We only need to see your hands. ;-) Nice touch using the gauge at the end. Honestly, I've always done mine by eye but by using the gauge you take the guess work out of it.
Great video! Looks a million times better too, and 2lbs is no joke to remove from the driveline!
Absolutely. I look forward to seeing what the new quickshifter works like that you supplied 😉
Great video! Always a good day when no tools or parts are thrown at the wall lol! Although I guess that could have been edited how 😜
Hey thank you. Nope it was a pretty calm night when I did the install LOL. only thing that bothered me was not being able to listen to my music too loud because of copyright b******* LOL
Awesome video , I love the bike any how to’a please film it’s cool to see it taking over the streets but the parts ams the why and how . Is awesome. To know as well..
Beautiful bike. Lowered? Curious what you have done to it.
Good video. That chain is made in Japan, good to see you using good quality parts on your Italian Stallion.
Hey Japanese steel is some of the best steel imported to rest of the world.
@@5up614 I saw Ozzy last weekend, he said tell you hello.
@@JayDonII Ozzy from Fox
@@5up614 yes sir
What do you think about the v4 is it a good bike to run hard for 7 years hard on the street
@5UP- what’s the torque for the front sprocket??
👍👍👍
Mr. Up if you adjust the wheelbase all the way to the rear of its travel what will you do when the chain stretches and needs to be tightened a bit?
It's still has a tiny bit of room for stretch and for adjusting.
Thanks for the handy tips and your bike is beautiful!! What sprocket did you use as I am wanting to do a similar conversion on my 1199 👍
Sorry just saw that it's a supersprox.... Doah 😄
No it's actually super light sprockets
@@5up614 haha I nearly got there 😂 much appreciated! Get some more videos going, we all love seeing your beautiful bikes, your a great laugh and we got all do with some motorbike covid therapy 👍
When you did the 520 conversion. Did you go up 2 to 5 rear teeth on your rear sprocket to 43-46t on your rear sprocket. I went from 39T to 42T on my 1299 and the front was coming up. There was no point for wheelie launch control. Two weeks later I went to a 41T and its perfect. Although the front does feather the road a bit.-
No stock gearing
What model Ducati is this?
5up 💪❤❤❤👊
5up....great content. Gotta know specials or Anniversario?
Specials,💪💪
So not sure why you were cleaning a chain that you were removing and disposing LOL...I was interested in seeing how you removed the countershaft sprocket (I am assuming its a PITA with the rearsets in the way, but maybe not??). Also, not sure how far back you can move the rear wheel while still retaining room for chain adjustment as the new chain stretches...would hate to run out of adjustment and have to take it all apart again to shorten the chain. Other than that, great video Steve....you have the biggest torque wrench I have EVER seen (Im sure the ladies tell yout hat all the time!! LOZ)!! I used a Nitrocat impact gun on mine and it came right off, getting it torqued back to spec and aligning the holes for the retaining clip was another story though!! :D
Because I put away and store all the parts and keep them in a box with all the factory OEM parts I don't like handling dirty parts. I do the same thing even when I work on my diesel trucks and customer trucks.I don't know what happened to the footage on the countershaft sprocket but it literally took 2 minutes and was much easier to do on the V4 than the 1299.
@@5up614 Mines an 1199R so I am betting that countershaft I have to remove the entire rearset..LOLZ...I was just bustin ya chops on cleaning the old chain brudda...:D I wish I lived closer so I could grab you a beer once in a while!
Steve, why do OEMs put on the 525 vs. the 520? Aside from rotational mass and pure weight of the 525, how does the 520 improve performance? Considering this for my 2017 Tuono. Thanks.
Because it is what you just said it is rotational Mass you have to be able to accelerate that mass and decelerate that Mass. So what happens is performance is incrementally decreased when you continue to add weight. In this is also a slight amount of unsprung weight which affects the suspension.
@@5up614 100% understood. But, if this is the only case, why do OEMs stick on the 525s?
@@samiam5697 cost because the 525 can be purchased cheaper
For years I've heard the 520 is not strong enough to handle the power of a 1000. I did a 520 conversion on my old 636 and it was great. The chain did get a crack; not sure if from lack of lube etc. I typically get quality chains for my bikes. What do you suggest for GEN IV ZX10R 184HP at rear wheel. Bike runs excellent!
Guys are making over 400 rear wheel with 520. I use nothing but ek 3d. But there are some other good ones out there.
@@5up614Thanks man! I've been using D.I.D with highest tensile strength. I'll try the 520 conversion ek 3d up coming season! Cheers!
Question for you. When you removed the front sprocket cover, was that tied to the lower chain guard and did it all come out together?
No the front sprocket cover is completely separate
5UP thanks. Appreciate it
@ 9:00 That tyre is anything but chewed mate.
So if i do that to my 18’ Duc Monster 821 by extended wheel base will that still be good on my handling??
I would not recommend it on a non superbike chassis.
There’s a reason race Ducati’s have longer swing arms I think it helps on the corners and straights for a bike of this much HP
The V4 swing arm is much longer than the older V2 bikes like my previous bike.
5UP yeah for sure but I was talking about their WSBK bikes normally run longer swing arms so any idiot saying adding wheel base will ruin handling has never ridden a high hp bike. From experience the bike feels better specially at high speed corners when you add a bit of length.
5up do you still have the Ducati Diavel Titanium ?
No I do not I sold it a few months ago
5UP ok . I’m thinking about getting one , did you have any issues with it?
5UP or the new rocket 3
Is your bike faster than the V4R?
Not too sure we will have to see soon
9:55 , hahahaha. you want beat 650ib v4r. We’ll see who will win
5up! The 20 cbr is going to destroy every thing. Those before it is subject to absolute irrelevance. Get on the band wagon 5up. You seem light smart guy. Again HONDA RULES THE WORLD.
Also 230 NM LOL must be hell of a bitch to get of .
5 up really? I thought racers had 5 down 😉
Trident can't get used to it would have to convert 8 bikes to GP shift
It’s amazing there street bike can turn n make apexes? Yet non of the race teams can😱they just stomp over every one in the straights Apart from MM93.who himself is just one corner away, from a save or crash😂😂😱
Youve officially ruined it. No longer a street bike
Racing motorcycle ,🏁🏁
to much talk
