    When you did the 520 conversion. Did you go up 2 to 5 rear teeth on your rear sprocket to 43-46t on your rear sprocket. I went from 39T to 42T on my 1299 and the front was coming up. There was no point for wheelie launch control. Two weeks later I went to a 41T and its perfect. Although the front does feather the road a bit.-

    So not sure why you were cleaning a chain that you were removing and disposing LOL...I was interested in seeing how you removed the countershaft sprocket (I am assuming its a PITA with the rearsets in the way, but maybe not??). Also, not sure how far back you can move the rear wheel while still retaining room for chain adjustment as the new chain stretches...would hate to run out of adjustment and have to take it all apart again to shorten the chain. Other than that, great video Steve....you have the biggest torque wrench I have EVER seen (Im sure the ladies tell yout hat all the time!! LOZ)!! I used a Nitrocat impact gun on mine and it came right off, getting it torqued back to spec and aligning the holes for the retaining clip was another story though!! :D

    • @5up614
      @5up614  Před 4 lety +1

      Because I put away and store all the parts and keep them in a box with all the factory OEM parts I don't like handling dirty parts. I do the same thing even when I work on my diesel trucks and customer trucks.I don't know what happened to the footage on the countershaft sprocket but it literally took 2 minutes and was much easier to do on the V4 than the 1299.

    Steve, why do OEMs put on the 525 vs. the 520? Aside from rotational mass and pure weight of the 525, how does the 520 improve performance? Considering this for my 2017 Tuono. Thanks.

    • @5up614
      @5up614  Před 4 lety

      Because it is what you just said it is rotational Mass you have to be able to accelerate that mass and decelerate that Mass. So what happens is performance is incrementally decreased when you continue to add weight. In this is also a slight amount of unsprung weight which affects the suspension.

    For years I've heard the 520 is not strong enough to handle the power of a 1000. I did a 520 conversion on my old 636 and it was great. The chain did get a crack; not sure if from lack of lube etc. I typically get quality chains for my bikes. What do you suggest for GEN IV ZX10R 184HP at rear wheel. Bike runs excellent!

    There’s a reason race Ducati’s have longer swing arms I think it helps on the corners and straights for a bike of this much HP

    • @5up614

    • @SteezeN
      @SteezeN Před 4 lety

      5UP yeah for sure but I was talking about their WSBK bikes normally run longer swing arms so any idiot saying adding wheel base will ruin handling has never ridden a high hp bike. From experience the bike feels better specially at high speed corners when you add a bit of length.
