Moreover, in reference to PEDs.. How was Ortiz’s performance enhanced by avoiding 12-15 THOUSAND innings in the field.. The example I use is Frank Thomas, who got in in year one, while Jeff Bagwell had to wait 7 years.. Anyone who believes Thomas was a better player than Bagwell is an idiot.. That guy was a 5-tool superstar..

For people who actually watched him play, and watched him win playoff series almost single handedly with nothing but his bat, the decision to let him in was the only one to make. Your opinion doesn’t matter, and it’s not because society is collapsing. It’s because you just don’t matter in terms of HOF votes. It’s a broken popularity contest anyway. Tons of guys who deserve to be in either aren’t or had to wait a while to get in. They made the right call here though

@@drwalka10 no not technically. In 2003 they hadn’t determined what were legal and illegal substances so the held testing on players to see what they wanted to eliminate the following year. From 2004- retirement he tested every year and never failed

Although it’s unfortunate he used those substances I think some of his achievements make up for it.
Also, the steroid/PED tests were supposed to remains anonymous. But according to Ortiz, too many Yankees tested positive for the that test in 2003. The NY Times weren’t too happy, and they leaked David’s test in return. 🤷♂️

I watched both play in their respective careers. David's numbers may be better than Edgar but those Red Sox teams were always competitive, and could have won without Ortiz. Edgar contributed more to Seattle because he was a HUGE part of their limited successes. It is not always about numbers my friend, but I respect your opinion. Have a good evening!

I watched this guy his whole career. I tried to find one thing to describe him. The one thing that kept coming to mind was "Mr. Clutch". One of the greatest hitters of all time, and perhaps the greatest DH of all time.
I think he's top 2 DH all time. But until the Edgar Martinez Award is named the David Ortiz award, #1 belongs to Edgar (IMO)
